Hello, I'm new to the website and to RPGmaker. I've been messing around with it and managed to do some basic things like changing sprites, changing the title screen, and changing tile sets. I'm coming up with ideas for a 1 character or 1 hero game that I'm pretty sure would use an ABS system. To be more specific it would be very similar to Legacy of Goku II or Buus Furry. I've found pretty much every tutorial you could post here so I have two questions before I dig into the coding and the creation of the game.

First, what RPGmaker program would be best to achieve for what I am trying to do? Currently I have RM2K3 so I would like to figure out what the best version of RPGMaker I should use before I begin with this type of game. Second question, I cannot for the life of me find any LOG2 or Buus Furry files (like examples to see how things are coded and done) mostly the websites I have been to or seen all have these old links that go to Megaupload so now they be obsolete. So does anyone have like a basic ABS system for RM2K3 or any other version that I may end up working with that includes those types of sprites? Kind of a specific question but here's to hoping.

Thanks so much for help! wink.gif

Personally I'd suggest RMXP. It offers a lot of sprites, and would be good for DB style game. It's got a lot of well-functioning scripts too, though RMVX does have better scripting capabilities. There's just a lot of things you can do with it, and it has a lot of resources. Though, I am partial to certain things in RMVX for my own games, this is one of those cases I recommend RMXP.

Artistically and graphics wise, you're gonna have a much easier time with RM2K3 though. There's just a lot more resources for DBZ games in RM2K3, and it's simpler to use. Great for starting out.

That said, good luck with your game. Be sure to check out the RM2K3 and event emporium section for more great RM2K3 stuff. Charas may have a lot of good DBZ resources for 2k3.

Yeah I noticed that too, there is hardly any tutorials or resources for a game like this other then RM2K3. But unfortunately, based on my research and observation it's a lot harder or takes a lot longer to achieve certain things as apposed to a later released version of RM

That's just because scripts are easier to manage, most being plug and play.

Making an ABS isn't too difficult in RM2K3, if you take the time to learn how it works. I've seen a million tutorials for them in the past, when I use to work on RM2K3.

Cool, I've look around this website and bunch of others do you or do you know someone who might have like a starter kit for this type of game? Ive got the sprites and sound etc. I was just wondering if a starter kit exists for a good starting point or if someone has one laying around.

You'll have to be more specific on what you want the game to do for me to answer that. I've never played Legacy of Goku II or Buus Furry

Essentially what I'm truly looking for is just a bare bone already scripted ABS to use as a staring point. Would like the ability to do the following if possible. One character on one map who can: Walk with arrow keys(tap arrow key twice to run in the direction you double tap) shot an energy attack, able to rotate between three different energy attacks. One energy attack is a ki shot (like a bullet) the other would be a beam ( like a kamehameha) the third would be a transformation. Which I don't know if thats possible. A simple leveling system that shows you how much health you have and energy towards your energy attacks. And if possible one enemy.

I think I may be looking/asking for a lot however I have seen so many websites which have like "starter kits" for what I'm asking for however all the links were megaupload. Which have now become dead. So I guess I'm late to the party. So if you know someone who has something like this and could send it to me that would be awesome. Heres a video of what I'm talking about.

I know the template is out there, I just cant seem to find anyone who has it.

It likely is. I'm not sure which platform that game was made on unfortunately.

This seems like it could be made with some hard work in RM2K3. It's a lot of show picture and check for button press events.

Keep looking for kits and resources, but also don't be afraid to study a tutorial and try to learn how to do it yourself. Maybe someone around here knows where one is, but you make have to ask around on the engine specific forums in the general area, and do some forum and google searches.
