Full Version: Ways to decrypt VX game files?
RPG RPG Revolution Forums > Game Engines > RPG Maker VX Discussion
Cleril
Hello, my last laptop recently had it's CPU die and with that some of my games have been lost and at least some of the work I did on previous games are lost.

I can download the games but they have the encryption on them and to my understanding the encryption can be cracked. If anyone knows of anyway to get through the encryption or wishes to break it for me I'd be appreciative as that's 2.5+ years of work gone down the drain. happy.gif

Thank you.

I own the games, as I said in the OP, my laptop won't boot up and extracting from the hard drive isn't working (the cables suck).

I hate to be so straightforward, however ...

Cracking games, whether it's yours or not, is to some degree unlawful. Especially when used on commercial games.

Yes, people can do it, and yes, it has been done before. However, there is no way we know that the game you want decrypted is yours, and that if you were to get a decrypter you would only use it on your game and be done with it. All we have is your word, which even my or X-M-O's word isn't enough to ask for that kind of software on this board.

Now it's up to the moderator of this section what to do about this thread. Expect it to be closed. I'll see if you can get the minimum of a verbal warn.

Laz_Taylor was/is a game hacker. He got a suspension for posting around the GUC. If you want to find a decrypter, you're gonna have to do it somewhere else.

The games I'm talking about are in my signature, leading to topics I made, what other proof that the games are mine do you require?

Alas, I understand why this issue isn't tolerated on the forums but at the same time I really have no other options at the moment to get my games back to work on them. Hell, the games have the "Cleril Calamity Studios" label I put on them and all of them are freeware. If I'm lying about ownership, I'm pretty damn good at covering my tracks. mellow.gif

If it is your last option, there are other places to do it. This forum is not one of those places. You should really know better. What I am now hearing, instead of "I made a mistake and didn't realize" is "I am purposely disregarding the rules on this forum because I want a decrypter for X reason."

Giving you a decrypter and you telling us you'll only use it on your game does not guarantee that you won't use it on someone else's. You just have to realize that.

Further, finding something as common as a decrypter (RPG Maker has some flawed security methods) isn't that hard. There's no excuse for looking for one on a board where they aren't allowed.

For now let me reference you to our Board Guidelines. I doubt the punishment will be severe since decrypters are gray areas with the way you use them ultimately determining their legality. But that is up to the moderators of this section to decide.

If your work is so important why was it not backed up??? Im no pro at game making but ALL my work is backed up on a external hardrive, thats like the first basic rule of doing anything important is to back it up. All of this just makes it alot harder to believe. And thank god they dont post breaker or help ppl that want them on this site cause that would be the end of us all!

Bottom line, you will not be linked a decrypter or told where to find one, there isn't much use in asking. I would suggest you read the rules again. sweat.gif
EDIT: Nevermind, titan beat me to it. O_O

I can understand your concern because I rarely make backups too but this is something you should know. You've been here long enough Cleric, so you don't have the "I'm new" excuse to avoid getting warned for it.

Also, Google exists dammit.
