This time I don't sound like a robot past the first few moments. Once again, there's cursing in there, in case you're not into that.

I'm gonna disagree with #2 there, I like to know what all is in the full game. And "teasing" is kind of the whole point of a demo. It's made to make you want to buy the real thing after all.

Oh course, I mentioned that it's okay for games to not allow me to access multiplayer or other additions to the game. More so I meant to detail not to let me say, have access to level 8, but not give me the powers I would actually have at level 8 in the main game. If that power breaks the difficulty or some such then not letting me use it is not accurately telling me what the game is like.

Basically rule number 2, rephased: If you're going to give me something in a demo, give me all of it, not half. I.E Don't give me a weapon and not let me use the alternate fire if I would have said alternate fire at that time in the game.

My apologies if I wasn't clear in the video on # 2.

More weird pictures, but at least this time I had the sound on. What's your deal with cursing, that's the second time you brought it up. It's not offensive (unless it's racial or sexist), but also I don't understand why people release explicit versions or buy them. It doesn't add anything to curse unless you're mad. All the same, I didn't notice when it happened.

Well cursing used to be an effective way of showing extremity, thats why they all have some ulterior inoffensive synonym;
fatherless becomes b****** / poo becomes s***

I do feel curses have sort of lost their meaning in the modern sense (their applied, unsparingly, to any situation), and certainly lost their effectiveness. Whenever I hear someone effing inbetween every word (and I hear it a lot) I just thinking their inbreds that never learnt another adjective.

But, yeah, great job with the vid Cleril

Yeah, pretty good. Trying to think of what else to add. But most of it applies to games in general, and not to demos. And some is not 100% accurate, like "Don't make fangames" (Inuyasha Tamashii is very good, as is Final Fantasy Time And Again).

Oh yes, don't make "complete" demos, that have basically half a game (no true climax). Don't have games that are not ready to play without serious work (I can't tell you how much stuff I've had to edit the rtp thing adding the fullgame flag to get it to play only to find out that it seems to be missing many of the files needed to play the game, from basic ones like vehicle to even the special character graphics not being done properly). If you have to test it on someone else's computer, do so. Do remember to link your demos properly here, no download_game links.

Ah, well, I never see any cursing done in forum posts so I was honestly unsure of it breaking any rules. Of course, youtube doesn't care but I figured I'd warn people if they were somehow bound to be offended so at least they had some warning first. To me they're just words of course so I use em as I wish. As long as I don't make every other word a curse I think that's just fine!

I think that's a good thing, it's about time people stopped treating certain words as good and bad as that's a detriment to language.

Thanks Kaust, I got some feedback from it so hopefully third times the charm regarding a solid performance. Namely I'm dropping the script, I did drop it a few times in this video but I won't have any next time which should improve flow and show off some of that there passion I have for this stuff. wink.gif

I can agree with the clarification of Rule #2. A few years ago I downloaded the Demo to Civilization 4, terrible demo. You get to start a game. That's it. There's a turn limit. A turn. Limit. You can't finish a game. Start, yes! Finish? Forget about it. I never bought the game because I couldn't enjoy a demo, knowing in the back of my mind that a message would appear and tell me my limit was up.

Much better demo would have been: Play only on small (1v1) maps with a technology limit. No turn limit, but technology can only progress to a certain point, so the game is playable and winnable.

Whole hardheartedly agree there! That would of been better for Civ 5 too but they made the same mistake in that one. mellow.gif
