Also, Ocean, where did you get that chipset? The wall and carpet patterns are identical. If I can, I will try to keep the art away from pre-made games.

Don't make the room that big. This shopkeeper seems lost in this huge environment. Use more black areas, and imagine how the store would be layouted if it was a real store.

Your shop is very empty.

Seeing your tileset, you provide tables in the shop but nothing on them. While there could be houses with diagonal walls, being blocky it doesn't make it look good so I suggest you to make the room squarish.

Here's an example of a shop of mine:



It's simple, has enough space for moving and the possibility of having npcs in the room and has details here and there so that the room doesn't seem empty.

I suggest you to do something similar to this:



I made it really quick but still basing the idea around the stuff available in your tileset (Which is very limited mind you). It still has empty spaces but looks better this way and you can experiment into adding more stuff to make it look better like more columns, npcs in the shop, pictures on the walls, etc.

If you got some character sprite of side torches it would make it look better too but that is up to you.

@Zinx_therpgmaker: first: you should make the interior more square or rectangular in shape as now it looks unnaturally; second: depending on what the shopkeeper has to offer, decor the interior accordingly, e.g.: weapon seller would have wide selection of swords, spears, bows, rods, and such; armour dealer would have wide selection of shields, chesplates, boots, helms, and such.

The "Fighting Alone" sounds more like a hero is fighting his way through or taking a trial. It doesn't sound like it could be used for a main battle theme to me though. It sounds like it could fit in a dungeon as well.

Now "Danse Macabre" sounds more of a battle theme. Seem like it can be used for a boss battle or a regular encounter theme.

A new screenshot from my bumpmap script- I tried it with different sorts of (modified) RTP textures... as I can't boost the performance anymore (realtime will never happen T.T), I will next work on a script for Voxel like fog wink.gif

Fighting Alone was actually used as the main battle theme in Tryadine Effect (i.e. the project I'm working on), even if it wasn't originally designed for this. I found it rather good (in my opinion) and employed it, since it seemed to fit the game. Danse Macabre was meant to be a battle theme from the beginning, but never used it. If someone is interested in using it, just PM me. I'd like to hear it in action smile.gif

Hello people, I'd like some feedback on a piece I just wrote. It's for "Aevum: The Ancient's Song" by Lydyn (he's looking for a team still so anyone looking for work should go look :3). It's a battle theme for the 1st chapter, which takes place during a war, a rebel rebellion to be exact. That in mind, I tried writing it at a march tempo and being brass heavy to give it a militaristic kind of feel. What I want to know is if I did it effectively... thank you for your feedback smile.gif

I've got a little screenie of some tilesets I have just recently sprited. (All tiles from scratch, except the link sprite)

So far, i've hard-coded(In C++) the statue to flash every 1-5 secs, and throw a fireball in my direction. The link sprite
is just an example of the player.

It isn't really a screenshot, I'm looking for critique on the Tileset.

@holder: very nice ohmy.gif , animation looks smooth, the one i like the best is when it shoot, it shows light from the gun.

I need some feedback on the character's portrait before I start making the clothes. I can't draw so what I did was copy & paste, erase, resize, drew a bit, and recolor. I did what I could do. I used someone's character portrait template, and a face maker by FoxRichards. Do you think I overdid it with the hair? Trying to make a Japanese fashion Ganguro with a blond anime afro.

Nice, this is pretty good. Loving the glare effect on the tiles. You made look 3D.

I tried a bit of a grayscale effect with him(if that wasn't obvious...smile.gif).
is it good?

PS:If you wanna use it, PM me and I'll send you different versions of this sprite for exmple:walking, jumping, falling, Etc.
PPS:Sorry for not giving an opinion on any of your creations guys. I'm a nOOb, and as a nOOb, I'll probably give inaccurate criticism.

maybe it can show more with a background of some sort?
@absoluteice: the hair looks....unusual on the lighting.
@kayden997: maybe add more darker colour on the outer boots? and some shadow on it.
i think it lacks shadow on everything (except the skin)

akura, you've got that formatted well for a platformer game, but for RPG maker, you may wish to have a more angled camera.

@Saul95 Whoa! Look beautiful! I love the icons and all but the save, options, and the exit icons don't seems to... Match much.
Also, the status icon could have a glow or outline around it... You know... Make it stand out more.
Still... Great job!

Speaking of sprites, the side walking one is a bit... Odd. It looks weird in it's standing model (middle one).

It's the darn idle ani... Whoa off topic.
The black level on the sword (in her right hand) seem a bit to... Black-ish-o-reen-o. But I fear that's what it's suppose to be.

maybe you can make the menu choices like the top right (nome locazione), its got no weird lighting cool.gif

@akura: if you want to make 3D model into 2D, you can try cut parts of it and use paint/photoshop to reconstruct it.

My friends bought me a ton of stuff happy.gif an yes its bought happy.gif an i know D: I was trying to make the animations like the frames in VX RTP Style movement -.- but I don't think I making them right sad.gif Im trying, i just want to make things that are more original =(

I'm feeling a bit gutsy today so I did a quick test four frame character battle stance that I might plan to use as a normal battler set. So how is this to anyone?

My Idea: Making a female character wearing a school uniform who is duel welding guns. Normal battle stance in battle encounter screen, wind blowing clothes and breathing.

EDIT2: I had a little accident with the two sprites above. The background color is awfully similar to the
sprite's colors themselves*sigh*. I'll avoid this error in the future.

Very nice, looks like there's a bit much going on at once though. From where the clothing is attached shouldn't be blowing, like the red object seems to jump to the side quite sharply for example.
Also her legs bend to the right but the body doesn't follow, try moving it to the right a bit.

Going to comment on the original really rather than the recolour. If you look at them both you'll see that yours is rather stiff it could just be the style you're working on but personally I'd try to add some colour difference between the parts closest and furthest away. It'll prevent it from looking flat.

Hey this is my first time in the forums here so correct me if I do this wrong but I need an option over a kaduki sprite I am doing for Terra of Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep its my first attempt at a Kaduki sprite with recolred hair and cloths. Give credit to Kaduki for the original sprite his Actor 72 as a base and Square Enix/Disney for the character.

Hello this is my first time posting on this site and I am still working out the "Do's and the Don'ts" so please bare with me. I have checked the guidelines and all I ask is that you be patient with me. I don't think I have permission yet to post resources but I do need some constructive criticism. I used the nude bases from http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=36553 here, I used the norse, arcane and floral primitive brushes from deviantart in the link below:

P.S: Please bare in mind that these are my first attempts at Bust shot editing, I usually make signatures, titles, banners for people on gaia online so this is a first for me. It was really a lot of experimenting and trial and error and a lot of patients. Oh and moonshra I think the sprites are really well made. I can't give you any constructive criticism as it is not my area of expertise.

For the attack, maybe more movement in the hair or cloth.
Other then that, it looks great.

Cheers for the input. I tried the hair a few times but the head doesn't move that much to justify any kind of noticeable movement.
I see that I should take another look at the cloth and see if there's something I could do about it, it sort of has dual uses so it'll be a challenge.
