Hey guys, so I got a new pc a few months back, and I really like RPG MAKER XP, infact more than VX because of certain features, like seperate icons, alot of tilesets, specific scripts.. But the problem is, RPGXP lags! VX doesn't, but XP does! For every project, even for a new one.. :\ I am using Windows 7 64BIT so that may be the problem, but I am using compatibility mode.. Tried Windows XP SP2, SP3 and Windows 98. Didn't fix the problem.
Here are my specs:
Intel Core i7 2600K
8GB RAM DDR3
Nvidia 560GTX
Please don't tell me why don't I use VX, and why I still use XP.. I just like it more.

Does all XP games lag or is it just a specific game?

All

Even new projects with 1 char, 1 item, 1 animation, 1 armour piece, 50 tilesets and un-changed prefferences. :\

Hmm... Does the game lag both in windowed and fullscreen mode or only in windowed mode? (Press Alt+Enter to change between fullscreen and windowed mode)

Thank you! Doesn't lag in FullScreen

Awesome!
Then it's probably some of the Aero features messing up the performance. I have heard about that happening before.
You'll probably get it to run fine in windowed mode if you disable Aero, or you could just stick to playing in fullscreen ^^
*hugs*

Off topic, but if you find that VX works a bit more smoothly, you may want to give the VXA a try when it's released in English. It will be a large upgrade to VX and brings back unlimited tilesets. I haven't experienced the lag you have with XP, but I'm using Vista. I know a lot of people tend to have various problems running certain makers on Win7, but if I'm not mistaken VXA is supposed to run with minimal problems on Win7.
Another thought can be if you've got a huge tileset compiled in XP. While you can merge tilesets together, my understanding was if you merged too many together you potentially created lag as well. Not sure if that's going on or not, but wanted to offer some additional possibilities just in case.
