RPG Maker XP has some quirks on my Windows 7 64 bit operating system.

I can make games, but I can not play games or listen to any of the RTP music without crashing or giving me an error. Do any of you guys know what is wrong? It used to work perfectly on Windows XP.

Have you tried the whole compatibility in windows XP and administrator mode? And does the game run when you try to run it out of the editor?

Yes, I have tried compatability mode as well as admin mode.

And no, the game doesn't run out of the editor. Here is the twist - about half of the RPG Maker XP games I have tried work well. The others don't.

By the way, the error when I run the game says "RGSS202E.dll could not be found."

When I try to play music, the error says "Critical Error C000005 at address 000000." and then the program crashes.

1) RMXP uses RGSS102E.dll, not 202, either you've got VX, and it isn't installed right, or in your game.ini file you specified RGSS202E.dll; open that and change it back to 102E. Or, you have a pirated version in which the dll specified is incorrect.

2) With regards to Critical Error C000005 at address 000000.. Are you running a pirated version?

1.) Where do you change that?

2.) This could get complicated... I bought it on ebay a year ago for 30$ on a CD. It came as, just a CD. It ran perfectly however, so I cannot complain. Did he pirate it??? I bought it.

1) in the project folder where you can run game.exe; you'll also find game.ini

2) it's possible to say the least. Is the disk like a simple burnable cd (memorex, verbatim, etc) or does it have RMXP artwork on it?

1.) I changed it from RGSS100J.dll to RGSS102E.dll. Now it says it can't find RGSS102E.dll. Whenever I run a game out of the program, It says that "RGSS Player has stopped working." and closes. By the way, I do own RPG Maker VX, if that helps at all.

2.) I feel like a crook. mellow.gif I can't find the CD by the way, so I can't really answer that.

If it was 100J.dll that's installed, and you don't have a Japanese version of the maker I can definitely say you have a pirated version; sorry you got duped. I can't help your second problem, but the first can be fixed by downloading RGSS102E.dll (you can find it on the internet), and putting it in your C:\Windows\System32 folder.

If you want to get a fix for the second problem, you need to obtain a legal copy; since someone sold it to you on ebay, you're not likely to be able to call support at Enterbrain and get it free. You're going to have to buy another copy.

Eh, thanks anyway. I do own the other RPG Makers, so... I guess I will live. Thanks. I may try and find that dll. Would that fix the crashing issue with regards to game playing?
Night5h4d3
yeah, just wont fix the music issue.

If you bought RMXP for $30 from some guy, then he probably illegally downloaded it and sold it to get money. RMXP is $60, and nobody else can sell it if they've already bought a license. Sorry bro tongue.gif

XP is actually $29.99 now according to the Enterbrain site:

http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/store

But the fact of the matter still remains that if this guy illegally downloaded it and then sold it out to you, chances are you'll need to purchase a legal copy to get it to work.
