Lato
As only a very few of you have been on RRR as long as me not many people know that I once made a game called Kingdom for XP. While I am updating Kingdom the game right now I thought I would share with you all a sneak peak at my masterpiece, Kingdom the graphic novel made after, and about my XP game Kingdom. Me and another artist have been working for over a year and a half on this and I just finished the demo to build up some hipe and get some feedback. Kingdom is the story of a soldier fighting his way through a bloody war. I won't say more as this is just a peak, I will update when complete. So enjoy and tell me what you think!

Ah first reply! laugh.gif Im glad you like it, I would say more about the story but its not done yet, only 85% complete, I actually waited a long time to put this demo out. Just wanted to show ppl I got some serious skills lol

Yeah I have a eye for talented ppl, she is amazing! I'm even hiring her for one of my other projects. The voice really adds that special element to the story, it's like its all fresh in my mind again and Im feeling the creative juices flowing again. Im really glad so many ppl are liking it so far.

Bump happy.gif Hey i'd really like to get some more feedback about my work, so far it's all been good but only a few ppl have really told me what they think. Is it interesting, dull?

I remember looking at this back in November, and it has the appearance of a very emotionally mature story. =]
When do you expect to release an update?

Aw happy.gif why thank you, well the story has has had about 5-6 years to grow and mature. Also some parts are more...adult lvl so im not really sure what the rating will be. As for an update im not really sure, if it was a webcomic I could update it pretty easy but this is a traditional graphic novel that I will be publishing, self publishing if needs be which will suck but it is my first professional project to the art world.

Seeing as it's going to be sold I cant really update it by adding more pages however as far as a completion update there is only about 18-20 more pages left to do so its about 87% done. I might even give away a free digital copy for a contest prize here since it did start out as a game.
X-M-O
Ah, I meant an update as to when you expect it to be released. Sorry, bourbon is great during the holidays... but I seem to think faster than I type when having too much of it. =]

87% is a good percentage to be at! =D
How often do you work on it?

Ah ok, well im hoping to have it done by june next year, but well see, the thing that takes so much time is I send the pages off to be corrected/touched up by another artist and that can take awhile depending on the page. As far as released I have no idea but will be very active in getting it done, I don't know much about the costs of releasing copys so that will probly take some time since im in between jobs atm. I work on it a few times a week, just long enough to finish the next page and send it off.
X-M-O
Ah, excellent. ^^
I look forward to it (hopefully June). =D
Nanashi
I hope the release is early next year and progress stays steady on it. You've put a lot of energy and time into the game and the novel, so I expect it to do great.

Well the crazy thing is this is my first attempt at making a graphic novel, and it just came to me one day to do it, that was over a year and a half ago and the work on it has been steady/nonstop which i think is kinda crazy since this is the biggest project by far ive done. I really think it will do great as long as I get the business side of it done right, but that requires a but of money so well see.

After seeing that you've got me interested.
And from a marketing perspective alone that was a great idea (not suggesting you did these merely for commercial gain, but there's certainly a correlation between the fanbases of the two mediums)

Well im glad you liked it, it is a teaser isn't it lol. But I was looking for a way to show ppl what I have been doing and market it in a way, im not sure what the best way to do that is but I still have some time to throw around some ideas, I really just wanna print it into a book but I might sell digital to. I actually am looking for some commercial gain now, when I started doing the novel I had a great job but fell on hard times and no job now so it would be nice to make some money off it so I can afford to do another novel, I have an idea thats even better I think, but I pretty much spent all my savings doing this one so well have to see.

The novel is still going strong, maybe even a bit ahead of schedule, I think the actual pages will be doing in maybe 2-3 months tops! but then I need to do final edits which will be a few weeks. Any good ideas on how I should market/sell it?
Lato
After almost 2 years of work, Kingdom the graphic novel is finally ready to be printed! The pages are done and with the funding from Kickstarter I hope to be making them into books next month! So take a look and tell me what you think guys.
Lato
Update/ Bump

Ok not sure where to begin, Kingdom graphic novel has been almost 2 years in the making, it has recently been completed! It is my creative masterpiece, my dream made into reality. I am trying to get it funded now to actually publish it and it is going well. If any of you are new to this Kingdom graphic novel is a very deep/artistic view of the Kingdom game, it shows a more detailed version of the story and is just beautiful. It's over 100 pages long and for my first graphic novel I couldn't be more proud. i'm also including a fresh link.

IF the funding continues to go well I will be hosting contests on RRR for a free copy of Kingdom graphic novel and even a free copy of Kingdom RPG. This is one of the many ways I give back to RRR and set the standard as the Art Staff.

That looks surprisingly nifty, but do you ever explain why Havoc is grey? I mean he's not 50 shades of Grey but he's still randomly grey.

Thank you, there are a few reasons why havoc is grey, one is because hes a auxiliary soldier and not a true Roman. Also it's a artistic choice, he is neither good or evil, he is the grey in-between.

Oh indeed it is, it is pure and UNEDITED. As an artist I refuse to edit my work to conform to ANYONE. The story is just how it should be, it bring Kingdom to life ina whole new way. The sad thing is it's so beautiful I dont think ill ever be able to top it lol. But there are worse problems.

Cheers for Lato!!!!! smile.gif

I've seen some screen and I recognize your drawing skills are truly amazing smile.gif

I really do hope you'll find some fund to print it, since you really deserve that.

Good job, pal.

BTW, I'm curious... why did you draw inspiration from Roman Empire? It's not such common and I was really surprised when seeing your game's / novel's theme.
Unfortunately, even if I'm Italian, I'm not such interested in Romans. I've studied Roman hystory and latin so many times by now that I really can't stand seeing it again.
It's like a good song. If you are forced to listen to it several times in a row, you'll hate it in the end sad.gif

Anyway, you surely have some hidden ace-in-the-sleeve or some firm motivation wink.gif
Not anyone is capable to write a 100 page graphic novel all by themselves.

Ah thank you. Well I could NEVER get tired of hearing/learning about the empire, I have studied it for years and even have distant ties to it. My family name is Lackovic which is from Russia, the 3rd Rome where the last of the Romans fled to after the fall of Constantinople to the Turk. I joined the military and have been stationed and fought against the enemies of my ancestors. So much of the novel comes from that frame of mind and experience. I make the novel as a way to deal with all the stuff that happened in those days.

All the subjects in the novel I dealt with myself, war, friendship, love, betrayal, this is why it's my masterpiece!

And a good soldier never quits! Even though it took me a long time to get it done I stayed with it no matter what happened. So I hope the world enjoys Kingdom!

Like I said before, there's just no such games/art college here. And if there's any, it's located pretty faraway~
I could learn from you and many other people, like making a group for game-making..

Art collage is VERY expensive! Even with my gibill I had to pay a lot extra, there are many ways to learn art, though it helps to have the technology that art schools use. There is no one best way to learn art I think, we all have to find out what works best for each of us, and im still learning, as far as skill goes im still very low on the totem pole as far as skill goes. If you want to improve you art there are many good videos on youtube that will tech you, and you can learn ANYTHING with google nowdays.

So you used to be a soldier. This certainly explains everything...
I can't do nothing but hoping you best wishes smile.gif

I hope we'll all read your name on that graphic novel in some bookshop, one day smile.gif
Who knows? Maybe it will reach even Italy smile.gif

Talents like yours are rare gems.

This is exciting news! Thanks for updating us with the information. happy.gif
I've enjoyed seeing the different pages of the graphic novel, and hope that the publishing gets funded. ^^
Lato
Thank you all for the Kind words. I have had maybe people tell me It would be cool to see it on bookshelves and I think so to, but I am also torn about that to because many other people have said that to really market it I have to cut it up in parts like a comic book, while im sure this would be a better way of marking it I also think that it would just break my heart.

I don't think art should just be cut up like that, while it makes money and that is great dont get me wrong, I am not wanting to sell my artistic pride for a few bucks, As I have said many times I have been around a lot longer then most ppl and have hired more ppl then everyone here combined, I have my way of doing things and thats not gonna change anytime soon, im just happy I have the support of some very skilled ppl on RRR and to those that disagree with me to each there own.

My Kingdom works are going good, im not sure were I will draw the line as far as the series goes but for now I am happy to let it grow and continue to be impressive.
Lato
Kingdom Graphic novel has succeeded in its funding and has even been over funded a little bit happy.gif
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/131110...graphic-novel-0

It's been a long road for it but im happy to say that all of my projects have gotten funded with my hard work. Now its time to take a break while I take care of the admin aspects of running the company, no new projects for me as I already have a full set of projects o finish up.
X-M-O
That's great! ^^
Yeah, be sure to spend some time winding down after all the work. It's healthy. happy.gif

There is the ultimate solution for that: Coffee.

Oh well, have fun relaxing. smile.gif
