Hello,

I'm trying to use my own files for the entire project. I got this rain sample. I'm trying to play it while it's raining, but the problem is it'll play through, pause a moment, and play again. I've tried this as back ground sound, and background music hoping on would give a tighter loop. Anyone have any suggestions?

have u tried any kind of sound changer to cut the sound?
JeremyBenson
What do you mean by sound changer? like cubase, or audacity or something? nope..

I thought you saved my life. I opened the file in audacity and there was silence before and at the end of the sound file, I cut that out, but there's still a slight pause before the file plays again. I think that's automatic though in rpgmaker..

This is what I have. The rain sound effect placed in BGM because background sounds don't loop. The sound file is rain from beginning to end as far as I can tell. On my map I have one event that plays BGM Rain 1..

it plays to the end of the file, bout 1/2 second pause, give or take, and then it plays again...

Okay, I solved this. Please don't count this as double posting, I'm going to teach some people things that will solve ALL their looping problems in one sweep.

I got this to loop seamlessly in OGG format, and by adding loop point tags into the file.

ogg isn't like regular mp3 files it's a container, and it can also hold tags.

I suggest heading to the tutorial section where I posted a youtube video on adding these tags into the ogg file.

you can switch all your music files to ogg format, add loop tags, and you're golden for looping seamlessly.

I don't have any pauses when I loop BGM or BGS... and yes I'm using OGG files. That's very odd indeed xD

I'd say, but I was finding that there was even a slight pause in my intro music, which was an mp3. I fixed it with loop tags in an ogg file. I never tried an ogg without loop tags yet. I'll try that next. I assumed it was like an mp3. lol.

haha

anyway, try ogg if you're having looping issues in music (unless its caused by something stupid like having silence at the end of you're track, and not noticing it.)

if that don't work, add loop tags, sure to work smile.gif

haha.

Well I prefer to go the easy way out and just make the beginning sound like the end of the track so that when it repeats it just sounds the same, you know? Maybe the pause thing is just an mp3 related thing?
JeremyBenson
That could be, I wonder if they're slower to load? The next bgm that I upload I'm going to try ogg without loop tags, but I do have a suggestion about loop tags that you may find interesting. Say you have a long song, and you don't want to play the whole thing over again, like say skip the intro. You can insert the loop tags on the section that you want to loop, and it will play the until it comes to the loop tags and loop that section, so if you want the last half to loop you can put the LOOPSTART tag at the begginning of section you want to loop, and then the end of the song as the LOOPLENGTH tag, and it will get caught in that loop, skipping the intro..

This adds a lot of dynamics, expecially if you want a tailered battler scene musical. You could have a battler with intro music that is skipped, and then the regular battle section of the music plays.
