Full Version: Where Do You Get Your Resources?
RPG RPG Revolution Forums > Art and Audio > Resource Submissions

Hey everyone, I've been putting together my Resource Pack for awhile now and I was wondering where you guys all get your resources from. Please post some links along with your comments so others can also see what websites you get all of your stuff from - resources can be anything. Character sets, battlers, scripts, pictures, etc. Let us know and contribute our resource links topic!

A few places I get my stuff from are:
http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/galler...er-xp-resources
http://untamed.wild-refuge.net/rpgxp.php

Also remember that we have a gallery full of resources as well.

Anyway, post away!

"Resource pack" :sigh: To see even the mods doing this makes me sad. It's the kind of thing that keeps this site from getting less respect than it otherwise might imo.

Have you even bothered looking into this pack? If you have you will have seen that everybody behind the sources are credited, along with the disclaimer about their legal/terms of use, and the promise that if any of the original artists have a problem with them being added to the pack, they will be removed.

Don't be so quick to judge.

What do you mean.

Here's another good site. It's not really RPG Maker based, but it has tons of sprites just in case someone was going to do a different type of game.

A cursory glance showed that there is at least one author whose name I recognize who explicitly prohibits redistribution of his materials: Studio Pickle. (That particular author even went out of his way to try to write out his terms of use in English, which makes it all the more inexcusable)

I suppose it's possible that RzrBladeMontage might have gotten special permission for that, but I doubt it given that very few authors of resources who run their own website allow redistribution of their resources even though those resources are offered free of charge. On the Japanese web in particular I've almost never come across terms of use that didn't include a phrase prohibiting redistribution. You can pretty much assume that if somebody has made enough resources to justify putting up a website to showcase them, they don't want people redistributing. "Crediting" an author by mentioning their name is not a pass to use their resources any way that you like.

I actually think that the idea of assembling haphazard resources into a pack could be a very useful thing to the extent that you have permission to do so. There's a lot of isolated resources lying here and there and it's sometimes hard to remember where you saw something that somebody posted. A resource pack could be useful for that.
But only if you have permission from the authors. At the very least you should leave the authors who are offering their resources through their own website alone. If they've got their own website for that purpose, it's easy to see why they don't want people redistributing their work. Put yourself in their shoes.

Any questions or concerns about the RRP need to be taken to PM, this thread is for a completely different subject.

Here's another good site:

To clarify what has been going on in this thread, and to right some wrongs I have made visible the missing posts.

However if the problem of removed posts was an issue it would have been much better to contact me about it first biggrin.gif

RZR is attempting to help the community by grouping Resources together, now no system is perfect and this is why he has stated that if he misrepresented any or failed to get the correct credits or permissions to let him know.

He had the right idea in that he wanted to make the thread tidy - so he hid from view (not deleted) the assorted comments that were not relating to the actual resource links.

After the event, and in hindsight, it looked as if he was removing the comments because he did not either like them or want to argue, but in fact he was tidying the thread. We have discussd this with him. and his intentions were good as in tidyness but bad in hiding the posts.

I have now made them visible and this thread can be used for discussion, he is doing a seperate topic which he can lock to copy in all the submissions.

So sorry about all the confusion. that's forum life for you ey!

Continue discussions, and thanks RZR for attempting to get all this information together for everyone, biggrin.gif

Edit: Oh forgot RZR is rechecking all the credits and permissions as well- then he will edit the pack accordingly.

Anyone else have any websites to provide for us?

Well... I don't use much RPG Maker sites because I take sprites and put them in tile sets, character sets, and so on. But I do got a few bookmarks to get that quick resource so I don't have to make them myself.

First is my main site I go to get some spites, that's http://spriters-resource.com/, second to that is http://sdb.drshnaps.com/. I got those both bookmarked on top of my browser. =3

Ultima Island was one of my main RPG Maker sites, but that suddenly went offline for 5 months. Just saying just in case it come back on. http://net.uirpg.com/
