Full Version: Music looping from a certain point, possible?

Game Engine: RPG Maker XP

Well, I have a problem here. Since my music are from mostly Final Fantasy, their pieces have a start, then onwards to their main loop, and when the loop ends it replays from the loop's start, not the beginning of the whole piece. I know that if I want to loop a music, I just have to cut the fade out at the end of music with programmes like Audacity, but usually they will give an abrupt stop and start again.

But for my case, the problem is, even if I cut the back, it replays with the beginning of the music instead of the part where is keeps looping.

Take my battle theme as example:

In this video, this guy loops the music correctly, but the problem is you will have to extend the music to a piece so long. And yeah, I tried this before, but in face of long boss battles, the music will suddenly fade out and start all over. That's my main problem. It haunted me nights and days when one of my friends remarked about this problem.

Is there a way to loop the music repeatedly from a certain point?

Any help or enlightment is appreciated. biggrin.gif

I'm not sure if this might be what you're looking for, but you could possibly try it....

Actually, I did tried FMOD Ex Audio before, but the files and scripts corrupted my audio files, making them unable to play during the actual gameplay. sad.gif This is quite a bad thing I have been thinking for so long. It might be the bit rate, or maybe the file type(most of my audio files are mp3, very less ogg or mid)

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it though. biggrin.gif I hope someone can help me solve this problem.

I believe the mp3 format itself is harder to loop than the others you've mentioned. I found this link that somewhat describes how to set loop points within files such as mp3, into an audio program, but as for getting RPG Maker to loop the files, I am unfamiliar with the program itself so I can't be of much help.

I made a tutorial on this not that long ago, you should've checked the tutorial section!
Here it is: http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=53387

I have watched the tutorial, and followed very closely in detail the instructions given. But I can't seem to get the music looping, except for just saving it into .ogg instead of mp3. Maybe the tutorial only works for RMVX and not for RMXP? mellow.gif

You should've mentioned that earlier, then! Yes, the tutorial only works for VX.

Well, at first I thought audio files should work the same for both RMXP and RMVX, so I did not say anything about my engine pinch.gif

But is there really no way for RMXP to loop music like Mr. Shu did for RMVX? mellow.gif
