Sorry if this has been convered somwhere but I didn't see any info in the announcements section, so for starters there's no Mature discussion section anymore but that's alright I suppose, what I'm really confused about is the General Discussion section.
When I came on RRR ages okay the General section was used to talk about basically everything outside the area of game developement that didn't fit in the media sections but now when I look through it every post seems to be about game developement related talk, it all seems to me like it belongs in the Theory/Game Design section or the General Game Engine discussion, it says underneath it: "Need a break from Game Development related topics? Come discuss anything general here."

Sorry RRR, but I'm so confused right now, stuff is so different, what's going on?

You are correct, the Serious Discussion area has been merged with the General Discussion area.
If you see topics that you do not believe are following the rules, please help out by clicking -- () -- the "Report" button on the first post inside the topic.
The moderator will decide whether or not the topic is suitable for the area and take action, if necessary. =]

It was announced

Mature Discussion was little used so we merged it.

I know this might sound a bit argumentative and I'm sorry but seriously, what's going on with the moderation in the General Discussion area? I'm seeing at least more then 10 threads that don't belong there, and nobody that posts in them even seems to care, and many of them seem to have even been made by important members.
I really don't want to sound like I'm getting angry at the moderation or anything, but I'm really just confused as to why so many people aren't just making these in the Game Design sections, there's even a spriting assistance thread in there.

As I mentioned, there isn't any need to discuss it here, simply report what you see, if you feel it is incorrect.
This doesn't mean that the moderator will definitely move the topic(s), but it will make them aware in case the topic was missed.
It may be the case that the moderator has decided to be more lenient in what discussion happens there.

Define " important" members? What do mean no one seems to care?

Anyone can post in General Discussion and you may consider that some of the threads might not belong there but Sparrowsmith and I moderate that section, some of the topics may be game related but not belong in specific forums,

Discuss general Engines that do not fit in a specific forum, ie- Game Maker,GML,IGM SimRM etc.
Also questions for multiple engines, for example asking what game engine you should use.

As you can see this is quite specific.

The spam forum is pretty much just for forum games now. GD is for discussing whatevs. I'm not so picky that it's like OMG THERE'S RULES ABOUT WHERE TO POST THAT STUFF AND UR BREAKING THEMMMM!!!!!!!!

Also, who are you? You have 2 posts.

What I meant by Important Members was that some of them were made by Revs or Staff members but if the rules are more lenient now in General Discussion then whatever, just seems so different now.

Over the last few months changes where made to the community to help the community grow, i think it is a good change though to be honest. happy.gif

Mature (which was renamed Serious in early 2010) Discussion has been merged with General Discussion because it was a failure as a board which was laughed at across the entire RM community.
As for the moderation there, as I recall, it always has been rather lenient (except under Lyricmaniac I guess). Which can be a good or bad thing, depending of your point of view.

Anyways, changes are inevitable in any community otherwise they wither and die. They can wither and die even with changes actually, but this is a different matter.

And yeah, my post is a paragon of double-talk.

The over strict moderation in the old Mature forums put a lot of people off.

However we equally do not allow spam.

As the others stated - Forums move on and change all the time- I am sure you must have noticed all the reorganization that been done and the new forums as well?

Anyhow your question has been answered so closing this down.
