Hi,

This first bit is going to be me saying blah, blah and blah but it's actually very important.

I'm going to introduce myself first. I'm a 19 year old guy from the United Kingdom who has a passion for creating/composing music and/or sound effects. I produce any style of music but it's all software based music, although I can play a tiny bit of piano. I've been creating music from scratch since I was about twelve. Music was the thing I wanted to do as a career so I started college after school and have been studying music since then. I'm on my last year at college and when I complete this course I hope to study at university. In my free time I make music of course and I also study music theory from time to time.

That's enough about me... Let's talk about the music and sound effects. First of all the music library has 37 tracks in. Each track is exactly 1:00 long because these are DEMOS. The quality of the tracks are 160kbits MP3 files and they contain water marks playing all throughout the tracks. I know these might annoy you but just try to listen past the noises and I did this so you can't use them without my permission. I do plan to make some money for my music which is why i'm releasing demos. So I want to get some feedback on my music, also I want some advise on how much do you think I should charge for my music.

I will be willing to work along with poeple such as yourselves making your game music for you. I also like to make sound effects. Now the sound effects i'm offering now are FREE TO USE and you can edit them and do whatever you want. Most sound effects will be synthesis meaning they're created using synthesizers. I do record sounds sometimes but the mic I currently use picks up static and overall is not a good quality microphone.

So I'll give you the links and please atleast just give me some feedback even if you absolutely hate my music and sounds. Just leave some feedback.

Also if you like, you can donate to me. Even if it's $1 or £1 of course I don't mind. The more money I raise the quicker I can start selling my music to you guys. Also the quality of the audio will improve. (Am I aloud to do this in the forum?)

First of, I absolutely adore your Inn soundeffect.
And I really like most of your music tracks as well. They feel strong and unice. And most of the time I could imagin a scene to each of them right away which is usually a good thing =)

Numer 25-Death sounds a bit strange because ouf the kind-of-double-but-not-really-piano.
The Village Theme 5 kind of reminds me at the soundtrack from "Pharao" but personally I think the actuall music sounds to random.
For your Overworld song I would suggest changing the uh...horn? Trumpet? to something else, it get's anoying really quick and doesn't match with the melody.
On a sidenote: your "Peacefull Woods" sound really scary, like a horror villain is to show up any second now XD

I can't really give you advise on how much to charge per song because that's really not something I'm good at. If what ever price you decide on sounds fair to me tough and it's within my limit I could imagin "requesting/ordering/what ever you want to call it" some songs - maybe souneffects as well - from you =)

Thanks for your feedback, it's greatly appreciated. Someone else on a different forum site said that the Inn sound effect was their favorite smile.gif Funny because I created it in like 1-2 minutes XD By the way the sound effects are free to use remember so you can use the Inn sound effect if you want. So what's your limit on how much you would pay for a song if you don't mind me asking.

My goal is to eventually have my own website up and running for people to buy songs and to request songs. But at first I'm just trying to find the market and see what people would like to pay. I have quite a lot of free time at the moment so I can get music done pretty quick and at high quality audio. It will also only get better and better if my business starts to grow.

Again, I really don't know what to suggest about the price.
I usually see independant musicians charging in between 40-60€ per song which I kinda get but still seems ridiculous to me.
If it's professional work for a company or a comercial or whatever and money will be made of it, i get that. But for the avarage person who want's something for, I don't know, theiy school play or (related to this forum) wokrs on a game in their free time just for fun that's impossible to afford.
I'd rather make my own music then which might not be as good but is more likely to get and if it won't be used in the end after all it's no big loss, you know what I mean?
I know and realize that these tracks are a lot of work but nobody wants to spend more money then they have to or that they can actually afford to pay.
To me, from the viewpoint of someone who is looking for something for a hobby up to 10€ would sound fair yet I am not sure I would actually want to pay 10€ for a track.
The money I personally can spend on my project is the money I earn for offering my sercvices just like you are doing here which is not much since as mentioned above: people don't like spending money on something that they can sort of make themself or find for free elsewere.
You won't be able to make a living of your work in a forum like this, but I belive you allready know that.
What it can be good for is advertisement. If your work is good and at an afordable price people will reccomend you elsewhere. With a good reputation it will be more likely for someone else who is looking for something on a professional base to hear about and actually chose you to do something.
For example "The songs I offere here will cost 3€ but they won't be longer then 90 seconds each and you will have to link to my homepage if you'll use it" or something of that kind. That's the kind of deal people on these kind of forums will accept.

Well I want to make a website to sell my music, that cost a bit of money not alot but it still costs. I also need to pay for copyrights on my music before selling them. That cost alot and if I own the full rights to my music then it's up to me to decide if you can use it for commercial purposes. Even if you wish to use them for non-commercial purposes I still would want my stuff registered to me before selling them to the public. Like I said it cost alot just for copyrights well atleast the official way to copyright not the poor man's copyright.
