CrystalFate
First of all... oh crap, there's someone by the name of Crystalgate here. D:

Aside from that, salutations! I'm CrystalFate, and I'm currently working on an RPG project as well with a group of people, although I just came out from lurking status after registering a few weeks ago.

I have a background on programming and has an idea on mapmaking due to my exposure to the Warcraft III World Editor in the past. I can also draw pretty decently, but don't ask me on how I'm coping with a tablet. >_<

I think I need help grasping some advanced stuff from RPG Maker VX, and with the RPG project still on early development, I need all the help I can get. If you can help a relative newbie, please do; I'll be a happy camper. biggrin.gif

Current Project
Toaru Majutsu no Index Project Alpha (tentative name) - It's a game based on the anime series Toaru Majutsu no Index, with an original story involving putting the characters of the series in a virtual simulator, where they stumble upon shocking discoveries, including a dead character returning to life.

Thanks, Mr. Penguin.
I do need some help in RPG Maker VX because I'm not that well-versed into it yet. @_@

I unfortunately don't do fan-games. But others do, and will help you. Check out the Recruitment forum.

I've used the WC3 Editing Engine rather expensively myself. Doubt you're familiar with them, but I did both The 11th Vampire Reborn and Vuen's D&D GP.

There's a lot more power in the RPG Maker VX/XP engines than in the WC3 engines, despite the WC3 engine being 3-D. That's something most people wouldn't guess.

I use a lot of the same tools you do. A tablet, WC3, and RMVX. I have a minor background in programming, though it's informal and still novice.

Read some tutorials, you'll learn some things. Then, gather resources from the Resource Submission forum and the RMVX Script Submissions forum. Check out the Theory and Design board for great discussions on gameplay and story-line. Browse the Event Emporium for examples of amateur to advanced eventing.

I'm not sure what else you need to know, but hopefully this will help you.

I realized it too: the World Editor does not have that much support with scripts like in VX.
Anyway, here's to hoping that my first RPG project turns out decent. tongue.gif
