Hey all, I finally got a computer to use while Im home for school, but unfortunately its got one of those administrative locks(my father is paranoid and thinks downloading anything will cause viruses and I'm too cheap to just buy my own laptop atm). I was just wondering if either of the following options would be available for me so I can use RPGMaker XP:

1. Install the program to a USB Flash drive and use the program from there. Its a 4gig and the stick would be dedicated to the program. On that note, would I be able to save projects on the computer itself and load them using the program?

2. If the former doesn't work, then does having RPGMaker XP installed on a computer require Administrative rights? Its a Windows 7 PC, and apparently my account isn't fully restricted but it says "No Games".

I would suggest hacking the laptop to make yourself an administrator but i'm sure someone else has a better idea wink.gif

The same thing i tried doing when i was in school. You cant install it on a usb stick because of the registry edits needed.

The only way you can do it, is set up a remote desktop connection and access your computer in school via remote desktop, other than that theres no way to install RMXP without admin rights.

(i once got onto a school computer as admin, and installed rmxp on that one computer, made sure i was on that one every lesson haha.)

Could you try putting a whole different operating system on a USB stick? I don't know how that would work, but a friend of mine seemed to think it was feesable. Then you might be able to run rpg maker off the USB? I don't think the program or game files need too much space, and you can open a game no matter if it's saved on a hard drive or USB.

Yea, it would probably help...unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that's illegal. That youtube page has full versions (I'm assuming cause I'm not downloading it) of all the RPG Makers...since RPG Maker isn't freeware, he's just giving illegal free copies of the game.

id say check out this site wink.gif, make sure u have your register code available or it wont work, also it gives errors somtimes if u have 64-bit systems, Portable VX/XP

P.S. this isnt handing out freeware versions of it, you will need your register code for this to work, if all else fails, check out MSDaRT, (Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset) its a program that lets you remove passwords on accounts on computers they come in different versions for different Oses, it also does a variety of other things but im assumeing you want to remove the password on your computer. this utility will let you do this.

Anyone who downloads that will be suspended.

I'm pretty sure Portable VX/XP is legal, so you can use that if you want.
I would use it, but you probably have to buy it again and get a new product key.

THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK YOU!

Ill test it out tomorrow.

And for the record, I'm not using it illegally. I have a legal version with a key, its just that the laptop I used to own has water damage, and this new comp (which my dad paid for in full) has limited access.
