I had a really great idea suddenly. What if forums allowed you to link your facebook (Or perhaps twitter) account to a messageboard. Then, a little icon would be in all post headers near the time. You hit this button, and you'd just log onto your facebook account and it'd throw a link onto your facebook account or maybe show the posts text or picture.

Pretty cool idea right? Then you could really get more people interested in a post or forum topic, and subscribed to the board.

If I was good at developing apps I'd do this. What do others think?
Holder
I'm tempted to throw up a poll just to see how many people are interested in this sort of idea.
Personally I'm not someone who uses those kinds of sites and never really got interested in the idea of them, but if it's something that a lot of people use and it's a feature that they'd like then it could be something that could be done as another iE site has such a feature. (I think anyway, it's got one of those like buttons)
Amy Pond
I modded my site to have several buttons, I don't know if anybody actually uses them.

It was very easy to create. Basically in less space than the facebook button in the post above, you could have several sites such as digg, stumbleupon, etc.

I'll be very very honest: the day we have a Facebook integration, I'm out of here.

I wouldn't be as drastic as that, I just wouldn't use the feature. Seems a bit pointless to me.

Perhaps, but there are those who are pretty adamant about their position on things like that.
It is my preference that we remain without a Facebook icon, but I really wouldn't care either way - I don't feel that it is necessary or desirable for a forum; a blog maybe, but not a forum.

Facebook represents a very large part of the Internet right now, seems silly not to tag along. It's not as if it would force -you- to use it lol.
Orrion Carn
It wouldn't affect me much. I guess I'm used to it now seeing it everywhere, you can't escape it anymore.

Tag me down as indifferent.

Breaking away from the chain a bit here... but I think it's quite a good idea.... it could bring quite a few people to the forums and enhance popularity..
ALTHOUGH if you really did want to advertise about stuff on/about R3, you would just post it on your FB account, like I do every now and then.
RzrBladeMontage
I see the "Like" thing everywhere, so it doesn't really bother me. I might use it, but I suppose it all depends.

and you guys knew we have a FB page right?

I didn't, actually lol.

I like Redd's line of thought. Linking with FB might increase awareness and draw in more people. I personally don't use FB, nor do I care to, but to each their own. It'd just be another tool for people to use, if they want to or not, and might open another line of communication between members that are trying to decide on what type of game to design or how to make certain events.
Redd
If we have Facebook integration we should allow Twitter and etc. as well, or maybe have them all in one button.
Orrion Carn
I'd actually be against Twitter, but as amerk said To each their own.

I didn't...Like!

On the subject of Facebook, looks like since R3's FB page was created with the old format, looks like it's going to be archived like it said when I visited. It won't disappear, it'll just transfer to the new format FB has for groups. So member'll have to re-join, since members don't carry over.

I run it as Admin- will keep a note of the members then re invite them all- plus I will advertise it when it has been updated.
