Hi,
I'm new here. So short to say, I'm still not sure if this is the proper section for me to ask for help. But I think I should take my chance.
Well its like this; I have 2 questions that I need your assistance regarding RPG Maker VX.
1. Tileset
I have downloaded some resources (tileset) from this forum and similar sites. And I've read and viewed some tutorials about how to make use of it. I have photoshop cs3, microsoft paint and GIMP. I've been able to figure out how to resize the png files. But the problem is, each time I have imported them into RPG Maker, when I want to use them, The picture is broken. For example if I had added a picture which in GIMP turn out to be broken up into 4 boxes. But when use in RPG Maker, the image is a portion of it, never able to be come a complete picture.
Because each 1/4 box become divided into 2, thus instead of a 2x2 image, it become a 4x4 image, but only 1/2 of it can be use.
What is the proper method in making the downloaded resources be properly allign for use after importing it? Without editting/modifying any of the default tileset.
2. Hidden Items
I'm trying to place hidden items in various places inside the game. For example a potion in a bucket, so that when the character click on the bucket, it obtain the potion. Including when I click on a cupboard, etc. I had tried doing so by making use of the treasure chest event and then replacing the chest image with something else. But so far its only achieveable if I use the broken up (faulty) tileset as mentioned in no.1 and overlapping it with a complete image of something else. But by doing so, when test played, the hidden items locations become obvious.
So is there a better way to do the above?
So all in all, I really need help in solviing both issues. Thanks.

I have no idea what you mean in the first question. Tilesets don't need to be resized or broken up or 2x2 or 4x4 or what...
Perhaps I need a better explanation. Pictures would help.
As for the hidden items, just make an event on the map, but don't give it a graphic. For example, make an event on the cabinet, activates when they click it, and in the event, it gives an item. Simple.

HI Shu,
Thanks for replying.
What I meant by my first question was,
I had downloaded some resource pictures, mainly tile sets, such as an image of a water jug.
The image is in PNG format, and I've open it in GIMP v.2.6 to check if the image is properly alligned
using the config grid and show grid. Making it 32 x 32. As was taught in a youtube video I saw.
Then I import the image into RPG Maker VX. But when I want to use it, the image became broken up.
So lets say of the complete water jug image, I can only use the jug's handle, while the rest of it
cannot be use. No matter how I enlarge the image or reduce it using GIMP, the result is the same.
The RPG Maker VX seems not to be able to let me use it in full image.
Been trying for days already, and I'm getting frustrated.

Ah, well you cannot import tilesets through RPG Maker VX. What you should do is go to your Program Files/Common Files/Enterbrain/RGSS2/RPGVX/Graphics/System folder, and copy all the Tile#.png files and put them in your game folder.
Then you manually edit the tilesets in your game folder and copy/paste the custom tiles into it.

I've did your instruction for the hidden item, it work. Thanks.
I'm going to try your method for the tileset.
Cause this was what happened when I did what I had did for the past few days;

The white selection box will either be like the 2 left image, and not like the right image.
I was sure I had did something wrong, but couldn't figure it out.
Sorry if I sound dumb, I'm still in the process of learning the program.
Edit:
I've tried adding the barrel tileset into the common files as per instructed. But I'm still having the same issue. Would you mind explaining how to edit it as been said have to do it manually? So that its properly registered for use in RPG Maker VX. Thanks.

You don't add anything into the common files folder, that will mess things up bad in the future.
You go to your own game folder, which is probably located inside My Documents/RPGVX/, take the tile files from the Common Files and copy them into your game's folder.
Then you open up TileE(or whatever) from your game's System folder(NOT COMMON FILES), open your barrel picture, copy the barrel, and paste the barrel into the TileE.
Also, why do you have twelve pictures of the same barrel?

Well, that 3x4 barrel image was downloaded from somewhere as it is.
I was actually looking for a 3x4 barrel with various conditions; close lid, open lid, etc.
But couldn't find a proper one.
Anyway, I thank you very much. I did as you've instructed. And in both cases, it work perfectly
as I had hope to do. So again thank you for your help.

Locking, you've found your answer!
However, the second question is geared towards events and the first is towards RMVX, so make sure you post in the right places next time
