Full Version: Character sprite size

Haven't looked at RPG maker for awhile but recently felt like doing something random, and found some character spritesheets but they were larger than those 128x192 ones.

But to my surprise it was loaded fine and I was looking at a giant sprite roaming the map, along with the other small ones. I'm guessing the engine takes the image and just divides it into a 4x4 sheet.

Of course it still took up just one square (1x1), but has anyone been able to do anything to make it so that a sprite that looks like it takes up a 3x3 chunk of space actually does take up that much space?

Although I haven't actually thought of any practical use for this. Maybe a puzzle game where you move blocks of various sizes around? lol

There's a newer script for movement floating about. It uses a collision system and measure movement by pixels instead of tiles. It's interesting, take a look around the script submissions or recent posts here and you should find it.

Other than that, dunno. Dun-no.

I imagine though that this collision system isn't the only one, or at least can be used as a basis for a tile collision system.
