http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/3...20#entry2139520Ipb 3.2 was released about a week ago and many people have been waiting for it like myself. The best part of the release is how well the default skin looks it's.. clean! and the profiles pages are very well organized and actually make sense compared to previous version of invision power board.
So some of my favorite things from the 3.2 release are.
- The admincp, it's just downright gorgeous!
- The clean interface and default theme
- Universal Avatars, it makes the whole topic look cleaner.
- SEO improvements
- Facebook like comments for profiles
- The list can go on and on.
If you currently have a license for IPB I would strongly recommend on upgrading immediately!

I've seen this in action, it's quite good actually.
I'm more familiar with other forum software, but it's tempting to make a switch like that. =]
I wonder if iEntry would upgrade... D=

I would love to see RPGR running on the latest version of IPB!
When IPB 3.0 came out I wasn't happy with it because I really liked the 2.3X version which RRR is running, and my choice at that time and many others were PHPBB and SMF. I really got into Xenforo for awhile but once I heard about 3.2 and actually got to use it I felt xenforo was going to fade just like Vbulletin but at least with it's dignity intact.
I paid for unlimited use of my key at least until I have to renew in November. I could give iEntry the key for 3.2 and the legit 3.2.zip file.

They'd have to agree with the change prior, and it could mean lots of new bugs. XD

Yeah, but when you have an audience the size of RRR's member base, you tend to discover that there are more bugs than previously anticipated.
I think this is taken into consideration prior to upgrading, for example on iEntry's part.
Not sure that they would consider it at all without being asked.

You also have to consider how old 2.3 really is, RRR could use IP.Content and dynamically place everything accordingly so it's not a mess(it kinda is) on the main site.
Someone should ask iEntry, I'm sure they'd consider upgrading.

They've been asked to upgrade to 3.0 one year ago and still haven't do it. Supposedly, they will, one day, upgrade to the latest version of IPB or the latest version of vBulletin.

See, I don't remember that. XD
Kread-EX remembers, and that's good enough for me.
It sounds like iEntry, lol.

Sounds like iEntry doesn't care, wait.. aren't they just publications/advertising? How did they get a hold of basically just a rpg maker site? Who gave in to corporate power!

It's the way of the internet:
Step 1 - make site
Step 2 - get lots of hits
Step 3 - get advertising to pay for site
Step 4 - get attention of company that can run your site cheaper on a better server (you don't actually control this step really)
Step 5 - Sell site to said company
Step 6 - Said company runs advertising to generate revenue, and refuses to do anything that would cost them money unless it would increase revenue... If it ain't broke, they won't fix it. If it is broke, but isn't bringing down hits, then they won't fix it.
This is pretty much the exact process that happens to every single website UNLESS the company set up the website in the first place.

Yeah, that's basically the case when it comes to sites that are owned by advertising companies.
If somehow iEntry could be convinced that an upgrade would increase hits (advertising revenue) then they would do it.
The fact remains that an upgrade really wouldn't do that for them, thus they wouldn't do that for us. =\

What if someone paid iEntry for the upgrade? Than it's simply a win win situation!

It's not about the cost - I Entry can easily afford the upgrade, as long as the forum keeps ticking over and we are not losing members over the version of the board we use - nothing will change I am afraid.

'Wow look at all those nice buttons we won't be allowed to press'.
It does look nice and really less hassle to navigate, one thing though I'm not fond of the Gallery layout and set up, I prefer the style of the one we have as it's more convenient for resources.

The layout for the gallery has always been customizable you can change it back to the 2.3X look if you wanted to. I personally prefer the 3.2 version of the gallery and IP.Content is really awesome.
Sad we can't change though as that'd bee really cool.

I doubt ientry will bother upgrading to IPB 3.2; they've started converting all their sites to vbulletin anyway.

I hope they'd leave RRR alone then as Vbulletin 4 was and is horrible and clunky><
