Is there a way to do this using events? or will I need to use a script

You sure can!

Link the following common event to a skill:

variable: dmg - set - random - X-XXX
change enemy health (...or something like that, but you have to pick a target) - variable - dmg
in fact.... http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=43672

The thing is,

I want to be able to say, xx damage was dealt. Unless there's a way to add change hp/mp to the total damage of the attack.

just have a txt box pop up that says

\v[x] damage was dealt!

where x is the variable's number. I think you can give it a base damage, and then have the CE add more.

Ok, cool. Thanks Jack.

I find putting CEs to skill/attacks can be a bit troublesome (hence, Ghost skill's considerable difficulty rating) , but you can do some neat stuff with it, if you can get it working.
I prefer the Troop-related events, myself. happy.gif
