In case you guys haven't heard already, Megaman Legends 3, a title that was HIGHLY anticipated by all fans of the series has been canceled... For seemingly a trivial reason.

Oh yeah and Megaman universe apparently got canned as well... Is this an attempt to kill off the franchise?

Discuss.

Capcom is evil.

I wonder if they are cancelling it to make a better title? Or to take the franchise in a new direction?
It seems odd that they'd just completely cancel something as profitable, so I'm sure there are other things in the works.
Perhaps the designers/producers/studio decided the game was becoming too much of a joke (meaning they were deviating from the idea of Megaman and turning it into something that wasn't "Megaman" enough) and wanted to switch gears?

It's an interesting thing, but I'm hoping they get some retro-feel back into the Megaman series, as of late it's been drifting, and I think that's why they're making cancellations and changes (maybe?). 0.0

Legends 1 and 2 were very well received, despite the fact that they didn't sell as well as other titles. Fans have been demanding for a new game for almost a decade now, and when this was announced, it seemed like Capcom was actually listening to it's fans and willing to let them be involved in the development process (with the rocket-building contest and all). To hear this get canceled is kind of disheartening, and many people felt like they've been betrayed.

Oh, and take a look at the first post of this thread:

Apparently, Capcom didn't even like the concept of encorporating the player's (a.k.a. their CUSTOMERS) opinion throughout the development, and there is even a rumor that Capcom has been kicking out anyone who talks about Megaman at the Comic-con.

Seems rather odd that they would do all that without having a plan to revive it in some money-making manner. =\

I'm not even a fan of Megaman but this is weird stuff.
2 games cancelled and still no appearence in the Marvel Vs Capcom game.
Capcom seems to hate the poor guy.

They STILL have Zero on the roster, though.

That's what really annoys me about that.
I can't understand how they could introduce a slightly less important Megaman character to MvC over keeping the main character in.
I guess they were really looking to use the more popular characters in that game over the more deserving.
Its kind of obvious they did.
Then again, theres Modok...

Maybe its just Capcom wanting to make more Street Fighters over other games.
Maybe it will blow over and those two cancelled games will get revived.

That's too bad from what I've read either Capcom doesn't want anything to do with Megaman anymore or they're using some kind of strategy here. I doubt that but it could work, lets say we are canceling this game, many fans will go on rage mode on gaming sites, lets get more people interested, lets resume work.

But I don't know much about how gaming industries strategize.

- While I was posting I re-read the article again and found this on ign too http://ds.ign.com/articles/118/1183734p1.html

Nevermind me on the strategy part, I don't think it could be a strategy anymore.

While I'm all for calling out Capcom on stupid decisions what Marvel characters get in are decided by Marvel, not Capcom.

And don't hate on MODOK.

I was actually looking forward to this.. crap><!!
I think they want to get Mega-Man back into the main consoles instead of portables but that's just a guess and they may even be working on a game for the wii u probably street fighter though which is still kick ass.

The thing is... Street Fighter is so ridiculously popular they might as well scrap Megaman and make the nth port of Street Fighter 4. I don't want a fighter, I want to shoot at stuff with a blue robot! D:

I'll go back and play my SNES Megaman games before I'll play the new fighter games... They don't interest me in the least, so if they go retro with Megaman... I'll be in love with it again. >:3

I still play the Z series like a fiend to S rank all the missions, get Level 4 victories on ZX, and get all the medals in ZXA. I just LOVE megaman. So it really breaks my heart when I hear the "cause" for the cancellation.
