Full Version: Introducing.... me

So I guess I'll write up a nice introduction so we can all be long time friends that share our combined joy of various stuff(s)...

I'm a webcomic artist who has always enjoyed the thrill of a good rpg, whether it be the fast moving action of Mass Effect 2, or the paced tactical joy of Final Fantasy: Tactics, or even the OCD and ADD riddled game play of Pokemon. (currently playing Black)

I ran across RPG maker a few years back and kind of brushed it aside, but recently I've gotten the bug to branch out artistically. I've been playing around with pencil, pivot, and easytoon to feed my animation needs and I decided to get back into game design so naturally I remembered what a great program (or programs) the RPG maker series was.

Then I ignored that and looked up some C# resources and how they tie into Microsoft's XNA distribution and development so I could start making some horrible avatar based games on Xbox Live.

Then I came to my senses...

So after picking up VX, XP, and IG Maker and after I realized that my two years of C++ development in college over a decade ago wasn't going to save me, I searched the interwebs and found that no less than a handful of forums existed for the RPG Maker community. I decided on this one because it has a fair amount of users that seem to have a rich knowledge base and you guys seem to be pretty nice but fair when it comes to criticism.

Anyway, glad to be here. I plan on using VX to make a few short 1-3 hour games and get used to the file system and having access to a plethora of awesome old school snes style rpg games that I grew up with is certainly a perk as well.

I plan on getting back into coding slowly so hopefully if the basic and c comes back to me I'll be able to lend a hand with some scripts/events and I'm always interested in any art collaborations or opencanvas sessions if I have the time.

Oh, one quick question. Is there a way to legitimately purchase RPG Maker 2000/2003? I've been looking but so far I've come up with nothing reliable.

Thanks, and I'm glad to be here.

Welcome to RRR ^-^
Enjoy your stay.
There's plenty of helpful people, tutorials and information kicking around this site for sure. As for 2k3, I know that there's no legit english version of it (it was translated and distributed illegaly to the best of my knowledge), and the only legal version of it remained in it's native language (Japanese?), so I'm really not certain if there's a way of obtaining it through legitimate means.

Yeah, that's right. There's no way to get a legitimate copy of them and to be frank, they're ages out of date compared to XP/VX. What you can do with them is severely limited.

That said, welcome! Contribute lots!
