The pixel and the drawing above are amazing! You really did a fantastic job, with both. The expression on the bottom-left is very nice, indeed smile.gif
X-M-O
They're all amazing! D=
And I love the duck on the shirt (on the right), looks cute. happy.gif

I agree with Nanashi, that expression is very nicely done. =]
Strawberry
Thanks guys. XD

Here's concept art of the main character from my solo project to learn RMXP for my fiance. ^^

(Hands and feet fail).

Same fairy. I did everything but the feet (my fiance did those).

Strawberry
The colored version of one the above pictures.

It has no shading, since I know nothing about that. ;_;

X-M-O
Aw... so cute! :3

If you'd like to learn something about shading, I can supply you with some tutorials. ^^
Otherwise, it still looks good. =D

Strawberry
Yeah, go ahead. smile.gif

But remember I have a mouse and Paint.net. XD
X-M-O
I found a couple good ones here and here is a set: (P1 / P2). =]
Hope they work out for you. ^^
Strawberry
Thank you! Here's what I came up with. smile.gif

X-M-O
Absolutely brilliant! I wasn't expecting such great results on a first try. =D
It's really very good. ^^
Strawberry
Thankies! biggrin.gif

I'm sorry for the blurriness and anime-esque face. ;_; I tried drawing realism, but I just don't know how to make them look cute/pretty. It always comes out... wrong?

OrigamiRose
I think it looks cute. I love the details you have done to the face.

Also, I just want to say that I love your fairy picture you did earlier. It's so cute biggrin.gif

Well, you've definitely got the "cute" part right. wink.gif
Looks awesome. ^^
Strawberry
Thankies, you too! I love cute stuff!

So like I drew this half naked guy with a short face, long neck, and thick arm. It was taken at an angle, too...

X-M-O
Oh cool, you've done a male again. =D

Did you draw this from a model, or from your mind? (Just curious.)

You do much better with the female faces, but with practice I'm sure you could have his face look just as well. =]

Also, you always go amazing hair! Love the style. =D

One thing's for certain, you can draw a half-naked male, but you can't draw a half-naked female. XD
(I guess you could, but you can't put it here anyway, lol.)

Nice work. ^^
Nanashi
Love your artwork! The females are wonderful and I'm glad your attempting males now, too~ You have a unique art-style and want to see it progress more and more! smile.gif
Strawberry
Thankies, guys! I've been drawing doods like crazy, trying to get them right.

So here is a couple I really enjoy from an old story we're bringing back: Merri and Noko. Noko was supposed to be in the background, but, I think, I made him too tall/big. ;_; I'll have to fix it if I decide to color it.

This is the same picture, but a close-up of Merri. Since she was the one I took forever on. XD

X-M-O
Very nicely done.
You've obviously been practising, and you've got a lot to show for it. wink.gif

I think that, in order to get the perspective correct on the male, you should make him slightly smaller, though primarily he is in the wrong location.
His feet need to start somewhere around her ankles or shin, and then the top of his head needs to (at least) meet the top of hers.
That way, unless you add a background image that would make it more obvious, you can immediately see that he is more in the background.
(Although, if you don't have a background image, he may look as if he is simply floating directly beside her.)
Strawberry
Thanks for the tips, X!

Two doodles of men. MEN? No wai, Strawberry! Yes. Shirtless, poorly drawn men! I deeply apologize for the very low quality you see here. ;_;

First off: Seiko Quartz - a male I did not design myself. Nope!

Then my fiance's MMORPG character: Demistar. Obviously, I did no designing, here, either. D=

X-M-O
Looking good! Your face style is definitely noticeable in both images. =D
One thing I'd like to point out, because I do that sometimes (hehehe), is in the second image; male bodies don't normally have such wide thighs, and where that would probably work more on a female, it doesn't match too well for a male.
Just helping you out with that piece. =D
Generally, men are without any curves (unless you are looking at them from the side, where their back creates a curve) and you might consider them to be "walking measurement sticks" (unless they are meant to be drawn overweight). Women have the curves when looking at them from any side, so you can't go wrong with curvy awesomeness there. wink.gif
Strawberry
Thanks!

Yeah, I'm having major trouble on guys, still. ;_; I still have to draw much more of them. XD

Remake of a picture. XD I didn't like the old one, so I thought to re-draw it. I like Merri and Noko a lot, so except lots of pictures of them - maybe it be separately or together. Hehe. The sword she is holding belongs to Noko. ^^ He won't let anyone hold it, but she can get away with it.

Another picture of Merri - this time holding onto Noko's prized pendant, as if something horrible has happened to him.
literarygoth
I like your style ^-^ Merri is cute as a button.
Perhaps you've already done this, so maybe I'm just flogging a dead horse here, but I'll suggest it anyways. Brush up on some anatomy, for both men and women, it'll make proportioning them a heck of a lot easier when you have an idea of what is where. After that, practice practice practice. For me personally, I like to have a model (whether it's an image or an actual person) when drawing people. I typically stick with realism (even though I absolutely suck at drawing people, but I'm trying!) I find having a visual reference helps a lot, especially when trying to draw the things that you find the most complex to get right.

Good luck with your art and I look forward to seeing more! ^-^
Strawberry
Yeah, actually I go to Model Mayhem to look for models there. It really helps a lot - especially if you're drawing a character like me and want to know their specs. Lols. I have some references for males there, but it feels so awkward staring them while drawing when you have a fiance. biggrin.gif

My character, Corinne.
X-M-O
That is an interesting point...
Why don't you ask him to model for you? wink.gif
Strawberry
I have, but he says it sounded silly. ;_;

A smeared piece of work - the cast of Ghost Shards (my game).
kayden997
I love it. I can get a character description idea out of each one.
Are you planning to colour it?
Strawberry
Acutally, yes! I am planning on coloring it. I'm not a great colorist, but I shall try. ^^
kayden997
cool. can't wait to see.
I'll keep my eye on this then smile.gif

He thinks it sounded silly? Then you should tell him it is silly for you to feel awkward drawing other male models and see his response. wink.gif

The cast is looking great! You can see them all in perspective, which also allows you to see consistencies or inconsistencies amongst their design. =]
Strawberry
Hahah. XD Haven't been in this thread for a while. XD

Got my first sketchbook yesterday. ^____^

Both characters below are from Ghost Shards - my game.

Aelina drawings.

Poppy drawings.
X-M-O
Oh nice! They are very well done, and you're definitely improving! =D

The fairy wings (on the first image) seem to start in the wrong location, so I would recommend bringing them down a bit, and having them start more in a location where you can tell they are starting on the back.
Currently they appear as though they are starting at 1/4 of the wing versus the bottom of the wing (if that makes sense).
Strawberry
Thanks for your advice!

Here is another drawing I drew a week or so ago - just haven't taken a picture of it. XD

It is Aelina's younger sister, Reina (from Ghost Shards). ^^
X-M-O
Wow, nice work!
You've got all the right elements to show movement, including her necklace almost flipping over her shoulder.
Clearly spent a lot of time on this one. happy.gif
Lato
Your artwork actually shows emotion in the characters faces! Wow im really blow away when I look at them, it just gives you a certain feeling, and really adds in a direction for the work, I wish I could do emotion like that. Its a shame you cant really digitial color them to well, your skill a bit off on that you said? I would say at least stop making them on regular notebook paper and do some on all white background, then just draw them and scan then then outline them in black, that would make for some really nice B&W ingame art!
Strawberry
Thank you both! Especially lato! smile.gif

Multiple drawings:

Aelina's younger sister, Reina (from Ghost Shards).

Aelina flying (lols).

Kyran looking evil (lols - from Ghost Shards).

A drawing from the age of 13, redrawn at my current age.
X-M-O
All right, that's a lot to work with. =D

Nice work on them, but a couple things I wanted to point out. If you don't mind. ^^

Aelina's younger sister actually looks older than Aelina (just my perspective, I guess, lol) but one thing in particular that I found somewhat unbalanced is Aelina's younger sister's neck. It's almost as wide/thick as her abdomen, and is a bit too long.
I would recommend slightly moving her head closer to the collarbone (consider that most people can touch their chin to their collarbone when looking down), and making her neck thinner (no more than the width of her arm). =]

Aelina flying looks cute. Good job there. ♥

Kyran has a few inconsistencies (he looks like Peter Pan to a degree, just thought I'd mention that, lol - it's not a bad thing).
First off, his sword comes across his body as if it is pointing towards his right arm's wrist, and it should probably be pointing away from his body. It's really just a perspective issue, and by bringing the sword out you can solve that issue. Just move the sword so that its point ends somewhere around the middle of his right thigh, and be sure the end of the sword slowly goes from its width at the base to a slightly thicker width at its point (that gives the illusion that the "2D sword" is coming away from his body).
Second, his right hand is in a very uncomfortable position (when I put my hand like that it strains the muscles in my forearm).
All you'd need to do here, is make it so that the palm isn't facing forward, but instead make the thumb's side of the hand face forward. Or you could even decide to simply make a fist and leave it in the same position as it is (as that would make more sense if you absolutely want the hand's palm facing forward). ^^

You last drawing shows an obvious improvement (and apparently your perspective of women's breasts was that of a child's when they look up at an adult woman; everything appears larger at that age). You've also clearly gained a lot of skill in other areas of anatomy - so it's great to see that kind of comparison between years ago and now. happy.gif
Lato
The plain white paper background really makes a differnce. The only thing I see that stands out as a problem maybe is the hands, you actually do them well but you leave out the simple knuckle detail, most so on the guy with the sword.
Strawberry
Thank you for all your advice, guys!

Here are some more!

Aelina and Demi from my game. :3 They ain't doing nuttin in the first top picture (I don't draw that type of stuff), they just being romantic. <3
NSFW?

Close up of Demi. ^^
X-M-O
Actually, I don't see anything wrong with those images in terms of "NSFW". ^^

They're cute together! Love it! =D
amaro57
You drew Demi holding and hugging Aelina very well! There's a noticeable size difference while Demi's hands and Aelina's clothes clearly show the positions and areas of contact well.

I have to say though, Aelina in the first image looks like she's in pain a bit, but it's probably the fuzzy quality of the image.
BulletVixen
I'm so glad I started looking at topics randomly ^^. You're so amazing (though you've heard this many times already I know.) but i have to say I'm jealous, i draw anime but i learned from other art so i still have to reference other art to get i.e. hands hair and chins right. But the fact that you draw you're own and more realistic.. Bringing more realism to a somewhat fantasy style drawing is much harder than coming up with your own crazy eyes. Because you have to make it somewhat more believable. I don't have a pad to be able to color so i also have the same problem with color. I on the other hand have to use markers because i can't afford a good paint sub for now and the arthritis makes mouse control painful anyway >><<. I'd just like to say i think your art is beautiful and please please keep up the great works. and so many picstures! my camera broke so i can no longer upload my new ones. It's good to see someone working so hard so often. You're an inspiration thank you ^^ XD
Strawberry
Awwwwws, thank you!

95% of my female characters over the past... 15 years...? Yeah, all in one picture. XD

From left: Comette, Amarira, Aelina, Ery, Corinne, Mina, Illenia, and Lyn
X-M-O
Very nice, I love the collage. ^^

Your poses are brilliant, and your anatomy gets better as you go from left to right. =]
The girl in the top-right area of the image looks amazing, very nice hair style and business appearance. happy.gif
Strawberry
Hehe.

PICTURES FROM STRAWBERRY??? OH NOES!!!!

But seriously, I have been drawing lately, just haven't put them onto the computer.

Here is a picture of Aelina - to me she looks like a western comic book character. XD

Here is a group picture of Aelina and two new characters: Malechite and Mell. My friend Susan created Malechite to be the perfect match for Aelina, with Mell as their adopted daugher. ^^
Big Pic
X-M-O
It's great to see you putting new pictures up. happy.gif

I think she does have that western look about her. =]

That's a really cool family picture, it shows the connection between everyone and draws out their personalities well. ^^
kayden997
Not much of a criticizer when it comes to art... Because they tend to be better then mine.
Great job. I simply love the group picture.
You planning to incorporate colour?
Strawberry
I wish, but you see. I don't know how to color. XD

I only have Paint.net. Lols.
X-M-O
You have a dA account right?
You should see if someone is willing to do a collaboration with you, where you do the sketch and they do the colour. =]
Strawberry
Yes, I have a DA - but I know nobody there. Except my fiance. XD

Ooooooohhhhh, that's because that site is now dead and was replaced. ;_;

Horrible drawings? Did I say that? XD Yeah, I'm not a good artist. >>

Here is a portrait of Rysen Dalargo - the main character of a comic I want to work on again with my fiance. He's the artist, and has been too busy. ;_; The comic takes place 450 years after Ghost Shards, but it will not spoil much. ^^

This is a portrait of his partner/self-proclaimed manager: Lyn Allura. She is Minikin, standing at about 3 feet tall. Her size does not reflect her age. :3

Set in the same universe of the comic and Ghost Shards, is a story I'm writing. This is the "cover" (I was bored). It take place 2 years before the comic, and tells certain events surrounding the Royal City of Launus in the kingdom of Ebion. This is the of the main character, Corinne Rautio and the prince Alyster.

Thanks for looking/reading. :3
X-M-O
Rysen looks really good. ^^

Lyn is cute, and has an adorable outfit. =]
Did you switch her navel for a piercing? Or is that an erased navel before the one that is there now?

The couple look good, but I would recommend having her chin tilt slightly up and toward him (as if she were lying her head back against his neck/shoulder but still looking up at him in the same way; it's just more romantic). happy.gif

Your work is brilliant! Keep it up. =D
Lato
I dont really see the problem with coloring the pic, all you would have to do is outline the pic in black and fill in with color, its simple, not really skilled PS quality but still looks nice.
