That would be boring, ser lato22.
You need to shade and highlight the picture as well.
It's not as easy as you think when all I've got is a mouse and the line tool.

Boring??? I always thought it was fun, a bit time consuming but all art is like that. But if you dont have a drawing tablet then outlining your work would be hell, so not easy at all, of course with a tablet very easy. Its kinda weird I hate tech in the art world but for art in games its pretty much a MUST have, still I really love your work which begs the question what are you gonna do with your work?? Are you planning on getting a tablet of putting your work in games or doing something pro with it?

I have a tablet, but I do not know how to use it. I prefer drawing by hand. ^^;
I might just make graphic novels when I am more experienced.

Thats a VERY expensive tool to have and not use...I have to have/use one for art school and it COMPLETELY changed the way I view and did art.
Then again just drawing by hand is safer and alot less expensive.

I love simple logos! They're so much more effective than the thousand layered effect styled photoshop ones.
With this the only thing I'd say and agree with you is the diary section, have you tried some actual handwriting fonts? Nothing messy but something smooth but still visually wrote.
I fond a few that you could try:

i adore ur pixel art! Everytime i see it, it looks so good... it's also amazing considering ur using a mouse.. ' D '
i've been wanting to tell u that for awhile.
i like how u draw faces too. they have a really nice shape and i like the eyes a lot. (' D ') (' D ') Something about them are very pretty.
i'm surprised u have a tablet and don't use it either, too. Altho it's ur choice; i like traditional more too.
What kind of tablet + size do u have? Apparently larger ones are more natural, although they're definitely more expensive...

Oh, just wanted to mention that if that is actually Malechite's hand on Aelina's shoulder, then it looks too feminine. He should have broader fingers with less sharpness on the tips. =]

The first picture is looking good, but it needs a little work on a couple of things. =]
The arms are too far apart (my arms in that position would feel as though I was laying on the ground, and wouldn't be comfortable), perhaps bring her right elbow in some and her forearm up a little? Difficult to explain what I'm seeing, lol. But basically the arm is too 2D and appears to be going further back than is comfortable to do.
Also, the cheekbone line should continue to the end of the chin and be dropped just slightly at its end (the way it is right now makes it look like there is excess skin or fat hanging from below her chin/neck area). =]
Hope that helps a little. ^^
Your fan art looks awesome, and with a little editing it would make an amazing Shaggy (from Scooby-Doo). =D

U did a great job. : D i'm envious of your female's chest actually.. i think i've drawn males to such an extent that boobs r getting flatter. XD
Really though, i only drew over it because i think it's easier to understand than critique. And because people can visualize it, or choose to easily ignore it. Especially for us artists, seeing is important. ;]

Thank you so much guys! I actually re-drew the girl. You'll find her below!
A male character I made up: Ser Derryck Dartanian, a knight apprentice.

Re-drawn pose with help.

Her name is Eirina, and she is a gypsy-like dancer.

An extremely hyper-active princess named Ramona. XD
X-M-O
Jul 14 2012, 02:51 PM
Yay! A knight in shining armour!

One thing I noticed is that his left shoulder (not left on the image, but the character's left) armour is slightly facing too much toward the perspective of the image (facing outward) where it should be facing more at an angle toward the direction the character is facing.
Other than that, great job! You should draw more swords so you can develop some really cool weapons!

Eirina looks much better! The arms are in a much more realistically comfortable pose now, and her chin doesn't look fat. =D
Ramona looks very regal. I love the simple crown (she's a princess not a queen), and if her hair were curly I'd be thinking "Brave"! XD
(That show was amazing! If you haven't seen it, you should. ^^)

I did notice though, that Eirina's chest is facing somewhat outward (at me), though her body is facing forward (toward Derryck). If she were to turn completely facing outward, her chest would be unbalanced. =]
I don't really see anything else that jumps out at me, it's a cute picture. ^^

You're getting pretty good at drawing males. ^^
Just wanted to mention that a male usually doesn't have their breasts so close together (so there would be some space between them rather than having them almost have cleavage). =]
Other than that, he's looking great.

Um, I tried coloring this picture. I have NO IDEA how to do hair. D=
I give up, tee-hee.
Magical_RuNE_Knight2001
Jul 18 2012, 05:04 PM
@Straw:
Hmm. Try thinking of the hair more as a spherical shape. Like a silk drape that falls over the rounded shape of the head. Or, like a ball.
Since the shape is round, the light will slowly fade out (or diffuse) the further out it travels, along the sphere. Meanwhile, the point closest to the lightsource should be the most highlighted-- that'll be where the light is the most concentrated.
Remember that hair tends to be smooth and moderately reflective. Its surface will therefore act like a mirror and have strong highlights; yet slightly diffuse the light. More light will be reflected depending on the intensity of the source.
Also keep in mind that light gets weaker the further away it travels from the source. So, hair in the distance will have softer, more spread-out shadows. Those hairs will also be less highlighted as well as less defined. :
(idk how u want ur hair to look like btw, but... well, this is what i did i guess. Again, i hope u don't mind me editing ur picture... (>*<") (>*<") (>*<")
dunno if this will help u, but i tried! Lol.)

You might want to maybe make the hands a teensy bit bigger though. But other than that, you are definitely improving.
X-M-O
Jul 27 2012, 05:53 PM
Yes on the hands. =D
Also, when her arm comes around the guy's arm, it looks a bit off. It's difficult to make that connection look right, but it's the only thing I see that's clearly needing to be fixed.

Something "not so clear" is the fact that his left sleeve (your right, when looking at the screen) should end before her arm touches his arm (to balance with the opposite sleeve). =]
It's looking great though, and I am enjoying seeing your progress!

Hey you colored something! Finally! And its not half bad either. The colors are vibrant and the basic shadows look correct (imo). Could use a bit more detail like XMO stated but its a good start! Just keep continuing.
I have a question? What size canvas are you using to make your characters?

Well, mister Bacon ser! At first I draw in pencil, then I scan the art, then shrink by 20%. XD
The sizes very each time. o.o I usually just zoom in and color.
I'm actually really afraid to color detailing, because I have no idea what I'm doing. D=
bacon
Aug 15 2012, 07:32 AM
Hint at coloring: no one really knows what they are doing when they first start. You just pick a lightsource and just go with it. For the stuff you are doing you dont need to get into any real detail; a simple anime color blocking will do! (if you didnt see it on .org ven posted a thing in the sketch thread about anime equued coloring).
Its just like anything else with art; the first time you do something new it usually sucks. But if you practice and make it a habit you will start dishin out all of these crazy things. There are wrong ways to color things and usually the people who are less bold are the ones with the most mistakes. You arent coloring incorrectly just remember to try something new even if it doesnt turn out. Because if you try it again and again, it eventually will.
