Full Version: A Much Deeper Reason I Create Games

Well, I figured I would like to share with you all a more deep reason that I enjoy RPG Maker so much. I recently made a topic similar to this, but I left out core details that for some reason I didnt want to share. However, now I do. So, here it goes.

Many years ago, me and my best friend DeAndre discovered RM2K. We found it right about the time when it first came out. As the avid RPG fans we are, we were thrilled to have the tools to bring our thoughts to actual work. We spent years working on games, coming up with ideas and such. We together as a team, never created a FULL game. We would always do something really cool, and come up with even better ideas. Honestly, I think we were more interested in the possabilities, rather then making the game it self. We always wanted to make a full game, so we decided one year that we would go for it and do a full game. We worked really hard for months. We would come home after school and work on it for hours. Sometimes we would talk after he went home about what we wanted to do. Well, it was going great for id say around six months. Then one day I get a call from another friend. DeAndre killed himself (he was 13 and it was 11 years ago) he hung himself. He did it becasuse people always picked on him for being black and gay. It broke me apart, really messed me up. I missed a week and a half of school. He was the best friend I ever had. It took me alot of months to even load RM2K up, becasue every time I did I thought of him. To me, its more then just a program. In 11 years since he killed himself, I have only finished one game. But, now I say that the project I am working on now is dedicated to him. He is and always will be my best friend.

Well guys, thanks for taking the time to read my post. Now, you see that for me. It's much more then just creating a game.

Thanks alot, I know it may sound weird. In a way he is helping me create my game. To be honest, my project actually looks promising. Like I just may finish it. None the less, thanks for the reply. Well, I am off to bed now. Night all smile.gif

Wow, That's a really sad but touching story. It's amazing how you pulled through it and managed to dedicate a game to him... But it's so sad that you lost your friend, I would be heart wrecked if that were to happen, And it was because he was picked on? Wow some people are just so low... seriously how can people like that live with themselves doing that? Sorry for the loss of your friend, And may he rest in peace, good luck on your projects. A True Game Designer remains strong no matter what happens.

I'm sorry for your loss. I have nothing else to say. When somebody makes fun of me I just try to remember I'm better than that person.

Oh I don't know that your project was dedicated to your friend....
Now I'm all honored manage to help you with your project somehow, so if you need anymore help on your project don't hesitate to ask okay?
I'm glad that you decided to be strong and continue your life coz I think that was your friend's will too....
Cheer up and good luck with your project. smile.gif

See the thing that I loved about DeAndre was we knew we were no where near the best game creators, but we were still very proud of what we did. Sometimes, I still tear up when I think bout him. His favorite song was "I Drive Myself Crazy" by Nsync. I listen to that song more then most songs. I also created a song for him (I am a rapper http://www.datpiff.com/J-Parker-Like-Rain-...pe.195001.html) It is song number 3, Boys For Life. Thanks guys it really means alot that you guys care enough to reply to this. Really, thanks.
