I recently bought Portal 2 (I had already played Portal 1) and I have to say... I loved it. The storyline, the physics, the puzzles, it was great.

However, reading some reviews on IGN, I was astounded to see some extremely harsh criticism, namely this review, giving the game a 0.1/10 and saying this:

420Sketch - Boring.... wheres half life ep 3? Valve is making some bad choices developing minigames into full games. Mindless shoot portal here pop out there, takes no skill. They should make real games again. What a joke the game is, why spend so long developing something so boring.

What's your opinion? Although this guy did push the rating way too far, does he have a point to a degree? The point being, that Valve is wasting too much time on "side projects" like Portal.

Did you guys play this game, and did you like it? Please reply with your thoughts.

And yes. I know this guy's a troll.

I'm not sure what that guy was reviewing, but... Portal 2 is pretty fun.
I mean, clearly it isn't a "challenging game" in that guy's opinion, but really the puzzles aren't always as simple as shoot here shoot there.
(Most of them are designed that way so that you only need to understand the game's mechanics and physics in order to solve any puzzle, but still...)

The game is fun alone or with a friend, and I can't help but laugh at portal loops. tongue.gif
I love looping portals, it's just hysterical - like a never-ending laugh or something. XD

(Ok, if I were a cat I would definitely get infinite entertainment from a string... but that isn't the point! It's a fun game. ^^)

I think you have a great point. Challenge is all in the eye of the beholder, but anyone playing this game should understand that it's not just "portal here - portal there".

Exactly.
I'm sure that he is just a troll. wink.gif

Also, Harryb412 needs to come chat over here about Portal 2! He mentioned it before, and I think he'd love to play with other members. =D

I FUCKING LOVE PORTAL 2.

Also: Want to ask something, where are people getting the idea that Portal is a side project?
This is what I don't get about Valve fans.
Half Life is a great game.
But Half Life is just a game that Valve made. In Valve's eyes its priority is probably just as important as Portal, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress etc etc.
Just because it has the most games doesn't mean that everything else is a side project.
Anyway, I FUCKING LOVE PORTAL 2.

As much as im a huge fan of Half life (number 2 on top ten fav's list), I was more than thrilled when I heard about portal 2.

I expected a good game, now that it had a team worth it making it.

I just recently played and beat single player......I FUCKING LOVED IT!

There is nothing about this game I don't like. Nothing. I loved the jokes, I loved the new game mechanics, I even love the puzzles that stumped me for half an hour, till I saw the incredibly easy solution. This was a great game, and will stay amoung my favorites.

Hell yes I love it. I'm up to chapter 4 but I already know how it ends xD
Now if only steam would let me play online.. *opens up Portal 2 and clicks on co-op* "You must be connected to the internet"
:rage:

I think the 'troll' was expecting to see some half-life experience.
Because I doubt any gamer would hate Portal 2 unless they only play FPS>Action.

Portal 2 is my second favorite game ever. I replayed it twice when PSN was down tongue.gif.
