Darkblade
Its one of the most horrible day of the year, the day of the revenge of the bad luck.
Only coming close to those birthdays you don't want to celebrate or Christmas when you're expected to buy stuff for people.

Well, I've been able to escape any horribleness since I've only had to go to the corner shop today.
I've set up laser's all around my house, set to target anything bad or luck related, I'm not trusting any good luck incase its bad luck in disguise!
It ... happens...

Has anyone experienced any bad luck today?
Or do any of you really believe in superstitions at all?

Honestly, I'm the kind of person who would say "No, I think it's nonsense!" and then take my time to walk around a ladder rather than go under.
Its not hypocritical! It's just good sense! Ladders are a hazard!

My laptop stopped working today. So most of the small RM projects I've been working on is gone.

Time to look for a new computer -_-*
Darkblade
That is terrible luck.
I hope there is a chance you can restore the data.

I don't know if its possible, but can't you switch the hard drive with another computer's and access the data that way?
Although, I suppose since its a laptop's hard drive there would be compatibility issues.
Well, maybe its worth looking into it, but honestly, every computer related thing I say I'd take with a pinch of salt.

I had a driving lesson today... My first driving lesson....

And it was a success, not a single problem. Stalled three times, but that's normal laugh.gif Seriously though, I don't believe in luck - and I certainly don't walk around ladders (if one of those bad boys hits me then I can sue wink.gif or at least break the fall of a poor guy on top of it, it's a good deed) I own a black cat and I've broken a few mirrors in my time rolleyes.gif

I don't even understand why friday the thirteenth is considered unlucky mellow.gif

According to folklorists, there is no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th century.[4][5][6] The earliest known documented reference in English occurs in Henry Sutherland Edwards' 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini:

Rossini was surrounded to the last by admiring and affectionate friends; Why Friday the 13th Is Unlucky

Consequently, several theories have been proposed about the origin of the Friday the 13th superstition.

One theory states that it is a modern amalgamation of two older superstitions: that thirteen is an unlucky number and that Friday is an unlucky day.

* In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve hours of the clock, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve Apostles of Jesus, twelve gods of Olympus, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness. There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supper or a Norse myth, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.
* Friday has been considered an unlucky day at least since the 14th century's The Canterbury Tales,[3] and many other professions have regarded Friday as an unlucky day to undertake journeys or begin new projects. Black Friday has been associated with stock market crashes and other disasters since the 1800s.[6][7] It has also been suggested that Friday has been considered an unlucky day because, according to Christian scripture and tradition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday.[8]

A theory by author Charles Panati, one of the leading authorities on the subject of "Origins," maintains that the superstition can be traced back to ancient myth:

The actual origin of the superstition, though, appears also to be a tale in Norse mythology. Friday is named for Frigga, the free-spirited goddess of love and fertility. When Norse and Germanic tribes converted to Christianity, Frigga was banished in shame to a mountaintop and labeled a witch. It was believed that every Friday, the spiteful goddess convened a meeting with eleven other witches, plus the devil — a gathering of thirteen — and plotted ill turns of fate for the coming week. For many centuries in Scandinavia, Friday was known as "Witches' Sabbath."[9]

Another theory about the origin of this superstition traces to the arrest of the legendary Knights Templar.

Friday is also the title of Rebecca Black's song... Perhaps there is some truth to Friday being unlucky...
I like the number 13 though. There are thirteen cards in a deck of cards. 1+3 = 4. There are four suits in a deck of cards. A total deck of cards contains 52 cards. 5 + 2 = 7
7 is lucky.
Ergo 13 is lucky cool.gif

More seriously though, everyone loves friday. Friday is just that day at the end of the working week, you'd have to be mental to not like friday.

What if your work week starts on Friday? Then I would not be happy. My days off are Tues + Wed. So Friday is like my Monday. sad.gif
Sparrowsmith
Then Friday actually is your monday wink.gif
Whichever day is your first work day is monday, whichever is your last work day is friday. That's how it works... As of this moment.

but now we're straying off topic... My bad.

I found a dollar on the floor at school, got Wendy's when I got home, and I'm going to a movie later (I think...)

Pretty good day for me, actually. I really don't believe in that stuff, especially after today. They all feel the same to me, I feel more unlucky on normal days than today.

Considering I don't believe in random superstitions, like the number 13, and definitely like Fridays... yep. It's just another day.
Omnial
I got to be with friends all day, eat popsicles, and play games...

Are you SURE its supposed to be unlucky? XD

I'm the kind of guy who jumps on the cracks, and while looking for them, finds a 5 dollar bill. (great day that was)

I think of it more of "chance" then "luck"

Luck belongs in video games, not in real life imo.
Darkblade
Daredevil!
Jumping on cracks!

Well, Nothing bad happened to me, looks like I won't be believing in superstitions again until next Friday the 13th.

What a bunch of nonsense!
AMIRITE!? laugh.gif

I am completely not superstitious, however; if people are acting differently (more "carefully"? more paranoid?) due to the date then it definately makes it a different day and makes any events that happen different. Plus, with everyone expecting bad things to happen, you're more likely to remember spates of bad luck that occur on Friday 13th than any other day.

I graduated on Friday the 13th. I felt it was appropriate. "Congratulations on giving us all this money. Now that we can't milk any more out of you, you have 6 months to find a career that can afford your loans. BYES!!"
DementedCashew
I was born on Friday the 13th. Besides, I don't believe in luck. Although I am superstitious and believe in karma.

Actually, I love Friday the 13th, especially when it's in May!
That means my birthday, May 20th, falls on a FRIDAY.
Hell yes.
For Friday the 13th, my day was pretty much normal, but I also decided to doodle a black cat in spirit of the holiday.
No bad luck, but no exceedingly good luck.
