Hateful Gods

Its in the 1200's when Zeyus and the 10 other gods of the world have turned against humanity. Marrian, Zeyus's wife and demigod of humanity/love shakes her head at what has become of the one she loves. Not willing to see her people fall she descends to earth where a young woman has just given birth to a son. Blessing him with powers to awaken on his sixteenth birthday, the young mother refuses to raise her son in to what she knows will carry a heavy burden.

The game is to launch into what will be a full quest game. Main quests will take you further into the story, where side line quests will open more quests for you along the way and grant better items had you have just plowed through the plot.
you will battle each of the 10 gods until Zeyus and his happy messenger, where you will meet your match.
Will you live, or will you die...

Depending on your actions, you may do both.

I know the story line has been touched on a lot. Chosen ones, and gods, and what not, but I'm hoping to add some new items and just tell a story very well in game format.
Would like to hear what you think of the idea.

You know I'm never sure what people are looking for in the Theory and Design forum with these posts.

It's like asking me what I think of the new "Cowboys vs Aliens" movie before I've even seen it. It sounds like a horrible, terrible idea, but that doesn't mean it's going to be bad. (Most likely that'll be the case though.)

I have no idea of you as a game designer.

I think what you're actually coming in here for is affirmation that you should go through with this idea. You want to know if we'll say "Do it!" so you can get started on it right away.

To that, I say "Do it!" Regardless of what potential I see in your game, any game you make and finish (Or even get half-way through with) is an accomplishment.

If this is the synopsis you've chosen, use it. Compared to many of the RPG themes in the novice category, this theme is good.

You wouldn't believe how incredibly difficult it is to marry in great gameplay with a well written story. But that beside the point. The point is go ahead and use this story. I certainly think it's good enough for video game design, and it has potential. I certainly could do a lot with it.
