After playing some Dissidia I never really remember anyone saying Tidus in FFX, and I heard Yuna say it like Tee-duhs, not how I always imagined it as being spoken like Tide-us, which seems overall cooler, tide-us reminds me of the waves and ocean, which has a lot to do with FFX, I haven't gotten that far in Dissidia but I was wondering, how would they pronounce Firion? I always said it like Fy-re-on not Feer-eon, but what's teh deal? Am I the only one who thought the names were spoken like this, or is this a common misconception?

Sorry for posting so many topics lately, but they're giving people something to discuss.

Perhaps this would be better served as an amendment to your other topic...

But yes, Tee-Duhs seems to be the "official" pronunciation, despite the fact that they pronounce it "Tide-us" in Kingdom Hearts. Gotta love discrepancies like that.

Yeah I realized I should have, I'll do that from now on, sorry.
and yeah, tee-duhs just sounds kind of...stupid.

Firion should NOT be pronounced FY_REE_AWN if you know your english well. FEE_REE_AWN is much more appropriate.

I have no references to offer but trust me, I know my English. I got a 98 percentile in the US.
Twin Matrix
I pronounce it as Tide-us and Fih-ree-on.

Pronunciation, as Klok said, comes down to knowing English and what sounds are produced given the vowels in the word/name.
Tide-us, is incorrect. It would be correct if the name was spelled Tydus, Taidus etc.
Due to there being no other letter that creates an alternate sound with the i in Tidus, it's therefore pronounced Tee-dus.

Same concept with Firion. As there's no other letter that alters the sound of the first i, Firion is pronounced as fee-ree-on.
Twin Matrix
And yet 'fire' isn't pronounced as fee-re, but that must be because of the -e at the end then?

Personally, I don't care too much about pronunciation. People with different first languages will mostly pronounce it differently.

Well, I do realize that now, as a kid that's how I used to pronounce it, but not anymore, but in Dissidia they pronounce it like a mixture between the two, like Fyr-awn, it's kind of awkward to say, but it's Dissidia, they pronounce all the names so weird.
