That's actually not a bad idea, even if it did fail miserably. Fan Games in general are okay, but I've seen too many of the same type of games, that it becomes difficult to swallow any more. Now we have a Tron fan game, and perhaps a Matrix, so hopefully this will inspire more people to venture outside of their shell to explore other possible fan games (Dune, a true Xenogears sequel, a Crystalis remake or sequel).
Wooo there skippy I know your not saying the Matrix MMO didnt fail Miserably right? Cause that game was rocking in its day, it was the best movie made into MMO i ever played, though not much to compare to, I have never seen a game since where ppl could log on and just go to HUGE partys in the clubs and dance the night away, THAT is what MMOs are leaving out thiese days, what is the point of just grinding/fighting, you need to have fun in these games not just worry about loot. But yes in its final days and yes I played it in its final days the matrix did have a horrible and very sad ending, because it changed managment and they lived off the name instead of adding content.
No, what I'm saying is, even if it was made using rpg maker and failed (and again, I'm not saying it will, but there is that possibility), I'd still commend the designer for taking the chance of creating something that is outside of the norm of typical fan-made games, since there are already too many Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Zelda fan games.
