Hey guys. I agreed to help Nanashi by providing music to her project series. Not sure if she wishes to use them or not, but I figured I would post these anyway. These are my most recent and it shows that my composing talent has grown. As always I'm looking for critique so I hope you guys like em:

Hmm... the production quality is pretty darn good. I... dislike the background flanging (for non-techno people, that's just some complicated effect) in the first song; completely out of character for music centered around western/eastern classical instruments. The opening is somehow vague, but the rest of the it is what I would call professional-quality work (read: I'm impressed).

Something's wrong with your upload of the second song; I couldn't download or view it. Hope it'll be as good as the first one, though!

Thanks for the critique man.

I fixed the link to the second theme so hopefully you guys can hear it now. I also added a new theme, well I wouldn't really call it a theme but it is called Revolution.
Eerie, suspenseful, hope you guys like it.

Theme 1 was beautiful~
It's catchy and sweet.
I have no critiques for it, I loved it.

Theme 2 is my favourite.
I love the background tune, though I agree with Ben in that the lead/bass sound doesn't fit.
You should change the instrument to pizzicato strings, or some other string instrument.
:0
I really love the overall feel of the song.
It made me tired though, I'm going to bed after this.
xD
Also, I think that you should lower the tempo.
I don't know why, but it sounds off.
I usually play it safe with tempos, by setting it on a multiple of 5, like 150 or 235...
What tempo is it at right now?

Revolution was stunning.
I love the "rain" effect, and I love that without a melody and with few instruments, you created such a tense effect.
Sounds like shit's about to go down.

Thanks for listening guys. Theme 2 was a bit difficult to build onto because of the main melody. After I slapped the Oboe Vibrato in there, I couldn't find any other instrument that could go toward it. The melody has a pizzicato instrument in there, though I forget which one I used. I'm at UNCP at the moment so I can't check and see.

I'm glad to hear that you guys loved the first theme. Y'know whats weird about my pieces is that I don't follow any basic music format. I'll be the first to admit that reading music, appropriate chords and whatnot is something I don't know too much about...I basically throw notes together that sounds good. Others call my style unorthodox, like Jimi Hendrix, who is also a victim of not being able to read music.

As for Revolution. I downloaded this awesome VST called Shuniji-free or something like that, and it molds two SFX together to create this one grand effect. The one I used here, I blended a SFX entitled Rain Crackle, and SpookBells. If you guys have time, search for this VST cause it is amazing. After putting the notes in, I was like...maybe I can add a choir in here or something to make it sound like something you would hear in Assassins Creed 2. That, along with Tubular Bells made this piece sound dark.

I have another I'am working on called Tranquility and it is sounding amazing. So, hope you guys post back here once I add it. Alright guys I'm out.
Spirit_Master_X
Sorry for the double post but I added a new piece up there called Tranquility. Hope u guys like it.

I like that Nanashi Theme 2. I wish I could find a good sample of chimes and know how to use them. Is that harp you have there with the pizzicato, chimes and flute? Playing sort of slurs? I really like that effect. Other than that, I feel your pieces are sort of ambient generally, lacking a discernible melody. Try some simple and short motif and then varying it? Though that's just my personal style actually. Yours works well on that second Nanashi theme I think.
Spirit_Master_X
The only instruments playing are the Harp, Pizzicato, and Oboe lol. I agree that my stuff lacks discernible melody. Hopefully Fall of the Gorge makes up for it. I added a live demostration on how I compose my pieces. I think its better to critique live, so from now on I'm going to critique others work live happy.gif
