Full Version: FE/SRW Style Battle System

I was wondering if anyone knows if RM is capable of making a game using the same sort of battle system similar to that of Fire Emblem or Super Robot Wars?

The main RM Map would be the battle area, where the player moves the icons representing their units about the battle map, and battle being when these representatives engage in combat with an enmy representative.

I'm sure people here will have played or at least have seen Fire Emblem games to understand what I'm talking about?

I know there's someone making an FE game on this site, so I guess it's possible, though I imagiine it'd take a lot of scripting. Don't know about SRW. That's pretty different from FE. I Guess it might also be possible with the right scripts in VX or XP, but I don't think anyone's made any for that.

There is a SRW style Maker some people over at 4chan's /m/ were making, they've got a version of it to download here: http://eternity-project.net/downloads/

I hope that helps.

Klokinator is currently working on converting all the FE games into RMXP. I'm sure you could talk to him about it.

Here I am.

If you want to use the editor I use, my site is www.phoenixsaga.forumotion.com

And actually Elliot, I'm not really converting any of the original FE games to RMXP, but that is in my long term future plans. Currently I'm making a trilogy three-part saga set 200-300 years before FE7 and I intend to make it as canon as possible, with fun references and such to FE7 and FE6.

Screenies of my game in motion.

(This map is finished in my last demo, Demo 4, but for demo 5 it has been completely altered, not that I'm releasing it publically anytime soon. sad.gif )

I do not take credit for the engine itself. All credit goes to Bwdyeti, the original developer of his own game. However, he plans on releasing the full editor somewhere in the next year, but being impatient like I am, I just decompiled his demo and I'm really only using it to hone my skills with his editor ahead of time. Yes my maps are my creation as are all my characters, but there will be no public release of my games and such until Bwd releases his editor publically. People are free to join my site and play my demo's and use the editor on the condition that they not release anything publically until the time is right.

I've been trying to find a way to make a system like this work.

I have the Zenith tactical battle system, but I've just never figured out how to make the animations work correctly. All I need is something to link up the target's battler to an animation frame, really. Or pull up a string of target animations that are consistent across each sheet (i.e. Frame 1 is always standing, 2-3 are damaged, 4-10 are exploding etc)

Just never had that last leap of genius to make it happen.
Klokinator
Yeah Yeti figured it out. His scripts are smooth as butter.
