Hello, I made some music in MAGIX Music Maker 17. I want to post them up and see what people think of them. Criticism is fully welcome. (Just don't go nuts and flame lol!) Heres the the first one I made: download link These next 3 are ones I made for my game in RMXP called "Solid Beat" which if you can't tell by the name is going to be styled towards music and techno mainly. It was slightly inspired by The World Ends With You, and the main character will be sorta like Neku in some ways. Title Screen (Work in progress) Battle Theme (might be a work in progress) New Title Screen.mp3 I made them all to be looped, so have it on repeat/loop if you're gonna listen to it Well I hope you enjoy them, don't forget to tell me what you think ##################### ####Streamable Versions#### #####################
Wow. You made that with Magix? I'm torrenting buying it legally, now.

My internet is super fast, it's the fastest you can get in Australia. Usually I can get 9mbps for a download, + the epicness of FDM hehehehe... faaaaaaast.. I dunno why but the bigger the file I download the faster the speeds.. :/ EDIT: I've just payed for it and finished installing the premium version. All I need to do now is install the extra sound packages and I can start making some better music OFFS~!!!! stupid effin' package installer/manager thingy is known to have problems with Windows 7, gaahh!I only managed to download 2 of the packages and I still have 2gb of it left to download it.

Do you really need a high premium extra special etc music creator with near live quality samples to make good music? It doesnt matter what sounds you have, but how you use them!
On that idea, id like to listen, but I dont download music Could you stream it? Id appreciate it.

Mar 13 2011, 07:13 PM
How do I do that unless you want me to put em on youtube? oh and here's the new title screen: New Title Screen.mp3 It dosen't sound as "full" as it does in the maker, but there is no difference between .wav and .mp3 formats besides the file size :/ Basically the mp3 is less "full" and more "smooth" sounding, sorta like in an image if it's sharp you can tell, but this is slightly more blurry, I don't know how to explain it..

The difference is the compression. WAV format is uncompressed whilst the MP3 format is compressed. Depending on what hardware you have, the human ear normally cannot hear any significant difference between the raw WAV format and the refined MP3 format. =]
Also, there are many sites that allow you to upload your own music so that others may stream the music instead of downloading it. Take Grooveshark for example.
XMO youre the man Thanks for explaining what I was going to Also, thanks Shady, ill give these a listen in a bit!

I like more the "bad" version, it only need better quality and some touches to take it above the standards.

Wav files are worthless minus the float function, so your best bet for a high quality export is either high quaility MP3 or FLAC. FLAC format is a format that uses a really high quality compression method that has superior quality although bigger file sizes. The reason you might be having trouble getting a full sound in export though may be because your mix is shotty. Make sure to EQ well before exporting a serious project.

The post above is very true and helpful! I honestly would use FLAC more for album releases, MP3s for streaming to listen, and OGGs for in game sound.

Never heard of FLAC but I just noticed it on the export options. I am able to export to:
Wave/ADPCM MP3 OGG Vorbis Windows Media Audio AIFF FLAC #---------------------# #---Video Projects---# #---------------------# AVI MAGIX Video (mxv) Quicktime Movie Windows Media Video #----------------------# #---Picture Projects---# (HUH!?) #----------------------# BMP JPEG

Why are you making a poll for people's opinions on if you should write tunes or not? Just write dude, its for your own pleasure, not other people.

Wow man, you've talent for this, really i liked your themes:
Title Screen: I dont know why but i love this tune, its very effective and its really useful for a title screen, reminds me games like SOM?, or mabye MMORPG games, but i think, it works on a platform game.
Battle Theme: This one have another style, i cant understand well, it sound good, sound like techno music, or i dont know, can be used in a tense moment (before battle).
I like the quality of your songs, well i guess thats all, sorry for the short critic, but im not an expert on music, and my english isnt good, but keep rocking

Mar 16 2011, 01:31 AM
Hehe thanks, which title screen did you mean? the newer one or the other? and what is SOM? I googled it and all I got was results for ero-games >.> (that was with moderate safe search mode on)

New song: Sad Gameover I made it in Fruity Loops 9

I think my favourite out of all of these was actually Title Theme (bad). The edited version of the title theme didn't have a prominent tune like the first one did. The only thing I didn't like about it was that sometimes the notes clashed, like at 0:14 when the piano played a weird chord. It reminds me a bit of Spyro; I've always loved their music. C:
I also really like the Battle Theme. My only concern is how short it is. Even if the battle only took 5 minutes, that loop would replay about 10 times. I hope you plan on lengthening these. 0 30; Other than that, it's very catchy. I think it'd be swell if you lengthened that song and made it more daunting and imposing, like adding another drum beat and adding a melody with a new instrument.
I love the beat in Shady Techno, too. Whatever that clock-sounding instrument is in the background that plays for the first 11 seconds or so, I love it.
My least favourite of these is actually the Title Theme (better). There's no melody, only a looping beat. D:
Overall, most of these tunes are fun and catchy. They're all extremely dancy; I love that. 8D

More covers completed I have so many I got to upload so they will be in the first post when I get around to doing that. However I upload some of them onto youtube in 1080p so check them out at: http://www.youtube.com/user/julianzrulez
My newest ones (these ones are special because I decided to stop being lazy and spent 3 hours making the videos and getting the opening and ending videos):
Clannad Ending 1 - Dango Daikazoku - Cover
Clannad Opening 1 - Megumeru - Cover
Clanad Opening 2 - Toki wo Kiazmu Uta - Cover
The Slayers Opening - Get Along - Cover
These take on average 6 hours to make a midi for then I import them and muck around with it in FL Studio adding instruments changing notes etc until it's to my liking. One exempt from this is Roaring Tides which I did from complete scratch in FL Studio and not bothering to make a midi.

Get Along cover brought many nice memories to me from my past <3
I got 30 seconds into Shadow's Approach and got bored, no offense. It is heavily copy pasted and there is no sense of progression. Work on building melodies with diverse instrumentation and you will get a fuller sounding piece.

Thanks for the advice Fat Panda I agree with you about it being boring though, I'm going to remake it without a reference, I used this song as a reference.
I don't know the original song but i liked Tori No Uta, sounds like a happy theme xD, fits great on a RPG, i like the sounds that you used, good job.
The trance remix turns me on, i want to dance now! xD, i dont know much about this type of music but it sounds great, the only critic: Its a bit short.
Last Regrets: I don't know the original song, but the cover sounds great. I like the sounds that you used, sounds peaceful, its a great song, you have talent to do music, i want to listen some new originals from you.
Good job, congrats =)
PS: Sorry about my bad english...

Thanks for listening and commenting =) the trance remix is short, I know, and it didn't help that I sped the tempo up for it as well xD Still working on a battle theme for my rpg so I will post that as soon as I finish it (having trouble creating a melody for it heh)
Your little chip-tune sounds amazing. I'd love to hear it with some bass and percussion. =D
Whoa! The theme to Air! D= It's beautifully done! I loved that anime, and you've done it a great respect. ^^ I want to go watch it again, lol. XD
Wow! The Danko song remixed! It's absolutely brilliant! XD And now I want to go watch Clannad again, lol. Very nicely done - love it! ^^ If you were to add some bass and percussion to it, it'd make an even better remix!
And of course, another Clannad song. =D "Last Regrets" is beautiful, and you've done a splendid job with it. ^^
By the way, welcome back! I haven't seen you in forever! D=

First thanks for coming and it's good to be back =P been distracted lately.
Yeah I'm still working on my chiptune and I'm horrible with bass and percussion I didn't think my cover for Tori no Uta was that good Glad you like my trance remix yeah totally agree with your suggestion, I'll work on that but may take a while
Last Regrets is from Kanon btw not Clannad xD and thanks so much

Oops, I meant Kanon. D= I kept seeing "Clannad" everywhere and put it in there again. ><
Yeah, I know how difficult it is to get things to sound right, and adding bass and percussion is usually a very determining factor as to whether or not the song is worth listening to. (So don't be discouraged if it doesn't sound right at first, it does take a lot of practice.) ^^
Like I said an attempt so tell me how it turned out =) personally I think it's horrid.

Huullooo Shady!
Some random (hopefully) constructive criticism; I may be wrong in saying this, but it sounds like you haven't "panned" any of the instruments at all. Which makes everything sound like every instrument is competing for the spotlight. Try spreading out the instruments a little bit more. That way the drums will sound better
Also the "choir-like" synth/instrument is that general midi? It sounds a little bit out of place together with that high quality synth. I've come to quite like the song ever since you sent me that original to put a string quartet to, even though I have no clue where it's from. It's a catchy tune
Like I said an attempt so tell me how it turned out =) personally I think it's horrid.
I definitely like the idea of the addition of the drums, great beat too, but I would have to agree with Stern in relation to the drums "competing with the other instruments for the spotlight". Sometimes they overlap just a little, but otherwise I love it. =D
