Okay, so there's a Fire Emblem fangame engine in development, there's a Zelda fangame engine that's being revised, and there's a noob running around desperately trying to get a the Pokemon starter kits too.
So who's up for me hunting down as many starter kits for as many VX and XP game makers as possible? This is a question for mods and active members. Not noobs.

This topic is a bit pretty old, but I wanted to go ahead and add the link for the newest Pokemon Essentials download link to it.
I'm assuming that's the only one you've found (in terms of starter kits), or you're keeping the rest all to yourself. Is the Fire Emblem one going to be released soon? I thought it was looking great, last I saw - but then I haven't really been in the loop when it comes to that. ^.^;

I saw that, but it was incomplete when I checked last. 0.o And... checking... It's still incomplete. D=
I can't make Marth fight Boyd if it's incomplete!

It takes and will continue to take a very long long time to add animations to FEXP. You can't just throw images in there and expect them to fix themselves, and I only have two friends who know how to animate in FEXP anyway, and they're busy with other stuff.
It takes a loooooot of time.

I know it does! I need to fast-forward time to a date where I have time on my hands to do nothing, and anything and everything, but... why....
At any rate, does this mean that Pokemon and FE are the only starter kits around? Wow... we really need to make more of them, even if they do take time they need to start somewhere, right?

Pokemon, FE, Zelda now too, there are also great ROMhacking utilities like SMILE and SMRPG Editor (Whatever it was called). There's also Super Mario Bros X (Flash based), and of course many dedicated ROM hacking communities. That being said, kits for RMXP/VX are indeed few and hard to find.

Hey, Klok, out of curiosity, are there any Persona-style Starter Kits?
To clarify, I mean similar to a fusion of 3 FES and 4.
To further clarify (if you don't know what I'm talking about), a bunch of systems that have to do with Social Links (a friendship tool in the series that expands the power of the Wild Card/the Main character in 3/3 FES/3 PSP, while it also expands the abilities of the party should you have links with them in 4), the Weather and the Moon Phases (the Weather was in 4, the Moon Phases in the other games), and a similar battle system.
Picture of said battle system in a nutshell
Analysis works like advertised (scans enemies), Tactics gives your party members different orders (or you can control them yourself), Guard is what's essentially Defend, Attack is the standard attack option, Skill is what you use the Persona for in battle, Persona is the one where the Main character switches his/her Persona, Item is the standard Item use, and Escape usually takes a while to work, if at all (or sometimes the opposite of if at all).
You think you can find something like this?

what the fuck is that
That's a battle system you're describing, not a starter kit. A starter kit is a kit designed to emulate an entire game system from the ground up, like turn based strategy in Fire Emblem, the entire battle/quest/awesome system of Zelda, or the ability to capture monsters in Pokemon. Also, that game looks pretty 3D to me, and it's pretty obscure too. (Correct me if I'm wrong) If you find the link for it, be sure and post it here, assuming it exists.

I used the picture to describe the battle system, and I used words to say what the other features were, Klok.
Sorry for not being the best of describers... I know I suck at that.
Bill Nye has already posted that, gagesx, but it's alright, no worries.
This thread is interesting, seeing the FF6 SDK was a treat, even though I don't have XP and can't look at it in-engine. And I'm working on a sci-fi RPG so not much use to me.

just because of this thread, I'm going to make a mario starter kit for VX. I'm not going to use anything I made since I didn't make anything for Mario games, but it will be good for a basic Mario fan game.
EDIT: I am using some stuff I made now :/

SMBX was a pretty good engine in itself. Also, why use VX? That makes an absurdly small amount of sense.

Because i use VX, and I've never heard of SMBX but I'm guessing it's for XP
