So, my game is overall very streamlined, the whole game has maybe 12 dungeons total, and level/stat progression is very quick.
Does everyone think that a let's say, "interactive story" game would benefit from puzzles? Puzzles of any kind? Who would like having puzzles for the dungeons? I'm very bad at eventing puzzles, but based on everyone's opinions, I may recruit an eventer to help me out.

If your making an RPG, adding puzzles to your game wouldn't help but improve the quality of your game (as long as they are simple, fun, and aren't, like, Lufia II hard, tongue.gif everything should be fine). It's not very difficult to think of -- or even add puzzles to your game. You can just get by with some simple ones like, pushing a block on a switch to make platforms appear, making the player solve a small riddle by gathering up clues in the dungeon, or switches! Lots and lots of switches -- and doors -- that keep opening and closing.

Just use your imagination! It doesn't have to be anything hardcore; and, if your having some trouble, you can always use an example from existing games that incorporate puzzles into their games. Good luck. happy.gif

When they're done right, puzzles can enhance any game and elevate a traditional dungeon slog into something really fun and challenging. Just make sure they make sense in the context of the dungeon, are thematically appropriate, and, above all, fun!

The only 2d/2.5d rpg that comes to mind that had a lot of puzzles and other unique obstacles was Wild Arms 2, and they paid off. I remember having much more fun going through dungeons in that game than most other rpgs of the time, since they were typically just a series of corridors and dead ends broken up by random encounters with nothing else to offer.
