So, when I'm busy on my computer I usually leave the tv on a music channel while I do whatever I have to do in the computer. I dislike pop, rap, hip-hop, etc. But I'm an open minded person, so if there is a song I don't like playing on the tv, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing on my computer and barely pay attention to it. But recently I've been having a problem with a certain song... I don't like the song but its so freaking catchy and it got stuck in my head for days and still there somewhere waiting for me to get bored and start auto-playing again! It's the song OMG from Usher and that guy for Black Eyed Peas. I really don't like it, but sometimes I find myself saying Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh my gawd and then I'm like wtf is wrong with me?! I proceed to smack my head to the desk for it to go away or simply play something I like for it to go away.
My question is... Has this ever happened to any of you? Have you ever had a song you don't like stuck in your head driving you crazy? Come on let me know how many times Bieber got on your head or Gaga (Haven't been in that situation yet.)

Yes omg is quite catchy, bieber is too gaga not so much, usher is ok.. if you like techno you should try listening to Basshunter - DotA

Basshunter is pretty good, I prefer his older non-English songs though. =]
I hate it when Christmas songs get stuck in my head... mostly because it doesn't happen during the season, rather it happens randomly in summer... annoying. XD

Damn now I have oh my god stuck in my head xD
But one that I hate is Justin Bieber's "Baby." Just because if the word baby is said, it could easily remind me of it, since that one word is repeated 712263 times in one chrous. Just in general, most modern songs that get stuck in my head drive me insane. Just because ther are some unimpressive artists out there swimming in money, while some excellent musicians are going broke, so having a song like "Baby" replayed a million times is both aggrivating and annoying >.<

No but really i hate that feeling. I hate that one "Single Ladies" song since Its a genre i greatly dislike and i find it sexist for pushing gender roles that all women must be drowned in gifts to keep them in your life.

I'd do anything for a woman if I loved them enough.
I would until gender roles are heavily enforced and It feels obligational.
Also another song I hate that gets stuck in my head is the Jonny Test theme song. I hate that show with a hot fiery passion and dislike it more than I dislike... Umm.... Hmm... What do I hate anway... *Puck humms the Jonny Test theme song as he walks away pondering his own hatred...*

lol you dislike Jonny Test more than the Jonny Test theme song. Ah oh who or what is Jonny Test anyway o.O'
If you think we're going to hell because of that song what do you say about this one? Date Movie - Say A Little Prayer Now that freaking song even gave me nightmares. I suddenly found myself singing with them in the damn table... Countless nights without sleep = not cool.

Megawacko 2.1 - Abandon All Ships The Trooper - Coheed and Cambria (Iron Maiden cover) Zydrate Anatomy - Repo! The Genetic Opera (I have been caught many times singing this song in public out loud, thankfully, my girlfriend's awesome enough to provide backup vocals) Hero - Skillet
2 Bonus that suddenly came to mind why posting: Linkin Park - The Catalyst (God I hate this album but this song is the only one I liked because of the message)
...and some of which I can't find any youtube link to listen to: >> Buju Banton - Champion >> Haruka Tomatsu - Monochrome >> Hank Thompson - Cocaine Blues
Dear You, from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.[citation needed] Glad to know I'm not the only one who likes this song...despite the theme of the anime where this song came from...

Yes what the hell is with that anime, I watched the first episode. I'm going to use it as my game's theme song now.
Gosh I'm tempted to go through my youtube favourites and dig out a link to like 3/4's of my favourited video's. Nearly all of them are songs and nearly all of them I would consider addicting, since I can listen to the same song or music for hours.
Welp, I'd better leave that there for now since I'm going to listen to the Christmas Baby for like two hours... I love these songs.

Don't forget the AND WHY part
My favourite type of music is Pop-Punk currently, bands like A Day To Remember It just sounds pleasing to me, I like the mix of screaming and normal vocals, while it isn't be too hard, like Black Veil Brides or Asking Alexandria (although that's my second fav ) I'm actually trying to start a punk-pop band, to no avail I've only got me (vocals) and my friend Josh, who's screaming but he's moving soon I can scream, but I'd rather have a separate person to do it so that we can switch off faster and go at the same time without using effects
Anywho, ANSWER THE QUESTION.
EDIT: I used a LOT of smiley faces in that

Pop-Punk's okay not so much my style. My favorite genre has gotta be classic rock/classic metal. Its when all the instruments are of equal importance that I really enjoy music, instead of the bass being inaudible like in ALOT of recent metal, or everyone just laying back and doing nothing while guitar and vocals make it interesting (like AC/DC, one of the few rock bands I don't like). That's why Led Zeppelin is one of my favorites. No member is neglected or overpowered. You can hear everything and all the parts are usually quite interesting. Same goes for Black Sabbath and Rush (Rush is progressive, but could still be out under there to an extent). The band I'm in is pretty evenly balanced and instrumentally interesting as well.. but we're not famous so i don't think many would care So basically I love it when not one memeber is neglected and when its not just "chord chord chord chord." Not that a chordy song is bad, there are some amazing songs that are simply chord based. But when you've got a guitar, bass, drums, possibly some organ jammin' out is when you've got me goin. There are recent bands that do that combo today, but some fall in different sections of the term rock, so I'll just stick to classic.
Surpirsingly enough, my favorite band Dream Theater does not fall under this category, but because Progressive isn't as consistently good as classic rock, classic rock takes the cake.

I like the pop music especially J-POP or K-POP. The reason is these kind of music really pleased my ears with their song which is not slow and has some beat to it but not too much either. Few the Korean artist that I like is SS501, Shinee, After School, Beast and BOA.

Yeah J-POP is pretty awesome :]
I hate this NEW kind of music, the shite that they play on the radio. Lady GaGa, Ke$ha, BS... oh wait.
MrGuy, do you have any videos up of your band on youtube? I'd like to check 'em out :3
MrGuy0250
Jun 16 2011, 10:52 AM
Icould not agree with you more Redd. I HATE mainstream crap. One of the most aggravating parts about it are the lyrics. the fact that they get paid so much to make crap about sex and drugs and all that is disgustng. There are bands I like that discuss those topics (Led Zeppelin loves talkin about women and sex lol) but at least they do it poetically. Though Lady Gaga is a good musician, she apparently plays Gershwin stuff at her concerts... but she's gotten worse with her new stuff.
And in terms of FloodWire (the band)...
Our videos on youtube really aren't fantastic quality though. So to see more stuff (covers as well as just about any original we have) go to the youtube link. They aren't separated by songs, there done by gigs, so if you're looking for it song by song than go to the 2nd youtube link (its our guitarist's account so they may not all be music lol). Its videos from a carnival we played at where we did like 20 songs. But for a much better quality go to the second one. Its 4 of our 10 originals, and we're going to finish recording the rest of them most likely some time next week. lemme know what you think
It's cool and like, clean, it reminds me of an old Iron Maiden song I listened to a while ago... I can't remember what song it was... oh well you guys are pretty good the singer needs a bit of work, but other than that it's really good!
What position are you in the band?
MrGuy0250
Jun 17 2011, 09:22 AM
Thanks Yea, our vocalist is deff the part the needs work, but that's because all of us had prior experience in what we play. I had been playing bass for around a year already, one guitar had already been playing for 2 years and the other maybe even for three years, and our drummer didn't have much drumset experience, but had percussion experience. When we got him, we we're just like "Lets give it a try". And it was clear he had potential. So now, 2 years later, all of us are better, but the vocalist is ALOT better from where he started. I kinda want him to get vocal lessons to really get him to where he can be.
And I be the bassist of the band. I hope I does well :3

I'm not sure what my favourite type of music is since its kind of varied. Mainly I like Progressive Metal and Rock or pretty much anything with an epic feel. For example, I really like Guilt Machine and Ayreon because many of the songs last around 10 minutes. I love that. I love it. (Unfortunatly, Guilt Machine's debut album didn't sell well because of that, its a shame)
I also love that Ayreon has a story to tell and the same story goes through several albums. This is also the case for The Protomen, another band I really like.
So yeah, music kind of like that.

I prefer a little bit of most things. However, the broadest genre I listen to non-stop is Metal. My favorite sub-genre is Doom Metal, because I enjoy the undertone of the guitars.

I don't really have a favorite type of music. I agree with MrGuy. I like music where the all the instruments have importance. The basis of the music I listen to is rock, I guess. Because most of my favorite bands are in some sort of category that falls under rock. Rock N Roll, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Rock/Metal, etc.
I could list all the bands on my iPod to basically give you a feel of all the different genres and sub-genres that I listen to...
Alice In Chains, Audioslave, Baroness, The Beatles, Bright Eyes, Buckethead, Consider the Source, Devin Townsend, The Devin Townsend Project, Gorillaz, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, Mastodon, Megadeth, Metallica, Muse, Nirvana, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Serj Tankian, Silversun Pickups, Smashing Pumpkins, Strapping Young Lad, System of a Down, Tenacious D, Tool, Weezer, and the White Stripes.
I listen to a lot more though.

Linkin Park, orchestral and Japanese songs for me. Linkin Park rules I like orchestral music because I love the instruments, they just sound so nice to the ears. I like Linkin Park partly because it's in Transformers but mainly because my ears can't get enough of it. Lasty I love Japanese songs because they can be really nice, such as Clannad's soundtrack for example or Highurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry).

No problem
Ayreon was my kind of 'gateway drug', if I didnt listen to it before I probably would have passed over on Protomen (Because I'm really picky with the music I listen to) and a few other bands like Stratovarious and Rhapsody of fire. I wouldn't call myself a fan of those two bands, but I like a couple of songs. To be honest though, I don't go much harder than Ayreon.

Back when I watched the Bleach anime, I used to love some of the songs they used in the opening and ending credits. Like Asterisk and Houki Boshi. I still like them today, but I'm not as drawn into them as I used to be.

Punk... and Fire Bomber.
Punk because its far more intelligent than people give it credit for and is often about being proactive about modern sociological problems or identifying personal flaws and Fire Bomber because Nekki is the only man awesome enough to save the universe through Japanese-pop rock and sheer force of will.
I love these discussions about one's favorite style of music, because I spent hours into them when I was younger. In fact, I fell in love with music with neo-metal : rammstein, linkin park, slipknot, korn.. these bands were like gods to me, and I thought there was nothing good in music but metal ! I was lucky enough to quickly discover how wide and rich the metal community was, by preparing a speech I had to give in front of my class for school (thx to a great music teacher !), and by searching on the Web for information about 'metal', I ran into websites about weird-named bands such as 'Iron Maiden', 'Led Zeppelin', or 'Deep Purple' ! During the following years, I was so into hard rock and metal stuff, that I used to go the library four times a week to borrow 3 cds (which was the limit), listen to them and copy them on my hard disk.
Of course, in this period, I spent hours defending the noble art of heavy metal on forums and chats, because I truly thought it was the only modern style of music worth listening to. It took me quite a long time to overcome this prejudice, because, like many teenagers, I loved having 'my own musical style'. It's like having a group of friend, an identity, it makes you feel like you're part of an huge community which shares more that musical taste with you. But I realized that enjoying music is just a matter of comprehension : once you've understood what the artist wanted to describe, you're gonna like it because not only does it remember you of something you've come through, but art is a spiritual elevation : it gives a global painting of a specific feeling/situation. And as a 'rebel' teen (or wannabe rebel ^^), I was receptive to the violence which oozed from these bands.
that's why I have quite ecletic tastes in music now : I love listening to an old blues by Johnny Winter, enjoying a glass of wine with music from Couperin, and partying with Shaka Ponk music ! (& I haven't forgotten my origins ; I'm still fond of metal, especially the 'metal geeks' : Bal Sagoth !)
My favorite genres are Pop and Rock/Alternative. My favorite performer is...... >_> <_< Lady Gaga. I like the messages in her songs and they are nice to dance to. My favorite song is Schiebe....I'ts a female empowerment song but the beat and style is insane....and there goes my testosterone....

Math.
Why?
I dunno. It's rad. It's so all over the place. Pretty much perfectly explains how I feel most of the time. I don't know whether to be happy or sad or what but I keep my chin up anyway, because. I dunno. It feels better. Genres aren't important. Only play the notes you like. If it sounds too happy so what.
And it's double refreshing because. It's all in good fun. But at the same time. It's straight up musicians music. It's so well built. Structurally unstructured.
