Fateliante
Hey, mrhawi, great effort on your first quartet, simple, yet effective! It definitely does sound like a quartet. happy.gif I liked the arrangement and the effective use of each stringed instruments, they were used accordingly to the composition and thought the woodwinds gave it a good compliment to this music score. There's much potential there, but I thought it ended a tad prematurely, nothing wrong with that, even short songs have that "pizzazz" about them. wink.gif

Looking forward to hearing more of your submissions, as always. smile.gif
mrhawi
Wow fateliante, iI'm flattered by all that you said, because you are like my idol here, i really love all your music =). Thanks for the feedback =D, yeah i lost the inspiration at the end, but was my first try =(.

Here another theme:

Stand Up!

I hope that you like it =)
khachuchrian
wow pretty good stuff man it reminds me of a scene in FF12

pretty cool keep it up
Suke.
I'm Glad see you here in this forum smile.gif ... i know the quality of your songs already .. and im sure people here will think same too ..
Its a fact just need hear them for know about it wink.gif ...

Salut.
Fateliante
This is a really good composition, mrhawi, very well done in timing the composition, especially the rest at 1:03 to transition smoothly into the next verse was a nice touch! I like the different combination of instruments that compliments the melody. Nicely done singling out the Harp at the end. wink.gif This is very good material in which you should feel proud about. smile.gif

I agree with khachuchrian, it does remind a little like a scene from FF12.
mrhawi
@khachuchrian: Thanks man, that motivates me a lot!! =)

@Suke: I'm glad that you liked it. You are an excellent composer, I'm flattered.

@Fateliante: Thanks dude, your songs are awesome, so, i'm flattered with you words. I'm waiting your new submissions =),

Here new theme, is for a mini-game (duel) of my game:

Duel
Stern
Duel is very catchy! The bassline reminds me alot of the battle theme for FF9. Very cool.

I haven't gone through and listened to all your compositions, but I'll check some more out and give you feedback/praise/critique where need be! happy.gif

Til' then, keep on composing!
X-M-O
Yes, I agree. ^^
Duel is catchy; it reminds you of FF9, but it reminds me of MegaMan. =D
Shadyone
Yes it is very catchy although it reminds me of Metal Slug
Stern
I listened to a few more tracks and here are some thoughts!

Stand Up - Has a very noble feel to it, could fit quite well as a character theme as well as something quite adventurous. I especially liked the harp(?) bit at the end. Wrapped up the piece very well.

Calm - The name fits very well. What stood out the most was the stick in the melody at around 0:50. Very sweet sounding. Almost endearing.

Un Regalo Olvidado - Like the previous song, a very calm and soothing song. I like the double reed it sounds quite sweet. The switch-up in the end keeps it from getting repetetive, I like it!

Once You Touch The Wind - This reminds me a lot of the older sonic soundtracks. Especially Flying Battery Zone. This is my favourite of what I've heard so far. Brilliant!

Keep it going!
mrhawi
Thanks for the comments Stern!. Stand up fits very well on a character theme (i didnt find a place to that composition, thanks to you now i can use it (: ). You have the same vision that me in the other themes, because i want to use in that way on my game.

New themes:

Camille Theme

En La Misticidad (V2.0)

EDIT:

Idea xD

I hope that you like it.

P.S: Sorry about my bad english...
X-M-O
Camille Theme is really pretty. happy.gif

En La Misticidad is really quirky, but feels happy. I like the tempo. ^^

Your "Idea" song is amazing! What are you planning on using it for? o.o
I really love this one, it's perfect. ^^
mrhawi
Oh!, thanks for the response X-M-O, i want to use it on a battle or on a heroic scene, the theme was unfinished, but i think i finished it now:

Courage (The Ex-IdeaxD)

Thanks for hearing =)
X-M-O
You're welcome. ^^

I think it sounds great being finished. =D
Fateliante
Hey, mrhawi, awesome job on the newest composition. Very catchy! This would definitely be more fitting for a main character theme, kinda reminds me of an even-more upbeat version of Ayla's Theme from Chrono Trigger. lol

En La Misticidad is a pretty cool theme, I think this would work more for something like a mischevious scene. Some sections sound really good leading up to a decent crescendo at the ending section. I can also hear a bit of velocity changes between the treble and bass signature piano which sound great, in my opnion, it gives it more personality to your composition. smile.gif

As for Camille's Theme, this is a really nice theme, when I hear it, for some reason it reminds me of Final Fantasy VI. I think you just brought back my interest in playing FF6 all over again! lol

Great work altogether, mrhawi! Looking forward to hearing more compositions. happy.gif
mrhawi
Thanks for the response Fateliante, "En la misticidad" was an old theme that I "remasterized" with new VST. I think that the theme is simple but its catchy. I'm glad that you like it, because you're like my idol here.

Here, another theme, this is the boss theme of my game:

En Guarde (Boss Theme)

It has the same style of my previous song (Courage, the "Ex-Idea"), I hope that you like it =).
X-M-O
Wow, I love En Guarde! ^^
The only thing that was strange to me was from 0:55 to 1:20 (it sounds off-beat, though I can't say that it really was). But otherwise it's great. =D
mrhawi
Thanks X-M-O for your response, in the part that you mention, I guess that the problem is the equalization (the string its very difficult to hear), but it's ok.

HEre new theme, as the name says, its an attempt of "Abstract Song":

Abstract Revolution

I hope that you like it, =)
X-M-O
The link tells me that there's a problem and it doesn't exist? D=
mrhawi
Sorry, I fixed it ^^:

Abstract Revolution
X-M-O
It totally sounds like a cat is running up and down the piano at the beginning; which is a cool effect. XD

I really like the tempo progressions throughout, and it's definitely not a boring soundtrack. wink.gif
mrhawi
Thanks for the response X-M-O, I liked the concept of "a cat running up and down the piano" =).

Another theme (this time a Happy Theme):

Un Pequeño Descanso (A little rest)

I hope that you like it, =)

X-M-O
It sounds pretty, almost like a lullaby mixed in with a "Tales Of" theme song. happy.gif
I definitely like it.
(If you make a Party Mix version of it, you can still call it Siesta, right? laugh.gif)
mrhawi
Thanks for the response =D , next time I will try to make another version of that song.

New SONG!!:

New Theme

=D
X-M-O
O_O;

This is my new favourite song!! It's simply beautiful!

Yes, girls like guitars, but this is amazing despite the slight bias!
Keep making music like this, and keep improving it, because this is awesome! happy.gif
mrhawi
@X-M-O: Oh, thanks!, I'm glad that you liked it. I hadn't noticed that you were a girl xD. Thanks for comment, it motivates me a lot =).

Another song, this one was made by me and another composer (a friend), our styles are a bit different, but as a first try it's ok for me.

Secante de Laralay

I hope that you like it! =D.

P.S: Sorry about my bad english (A)
Fateliante
Hey, mrhawi! Just thought I'd give my thoughts on your latest work, Secante de Laralay. I honestly thought it was well done, I loved the melody. happy.gif The climax of the song at around 0:32 - 1:00 was fantastic and good usage of percussion. Interesting, this song has a mountainous flow to it, start of the song also ends in the same way but with tempo adjustments. Great work! biggrin.gif
mrhawi
Ohh, thanks for the response Fateliante, the percussion, the percussion was made by my friend (he is from easter island, so he has that singular style), I'm glad that you like it!

Now I'm testing some vst, I made this:

TLoZ Overworld Theme (Cover By MrHawi)

it has some mistakes, but it's ok for me, I hope that you like it =)
Fateliante
Hey, mrhawi, really good job in covering Legend of Zelda Overworld Theme, I take it that you're covering it from the very first LoZ title released for Nintendo? I like the VSTs that you've used for this one, it works really well. This could work for a more modern remake it'd actually be pretty neat! happy.gif In terms of the mistakes you've mentioned, I really can't pinpoint all that many if any on there, it's barely noticable.
Any more covers you're planning on releasing?
MrGuy0250
Ah, a classic theme, and you did it justice. As Fateliante said, any mistakes you claim to have made go pretty much unnoticed. Good job smile.gif Which VST were you testing?
mrhawi
@Fateliante: Hey, thanks for your comment! Yeah, I was inspired on the overworld theme from NES, well I covered my mistakes playing the wrong notes with a little velocity, I guess that is the reason because the mistakes are unnoticed, thanks again for your response =).

@MrGuy0250: Wow, thanks for your comment, it motivates me! And I was testing Edirol Orchestra VST =).

Another theme, this one is original:

I have a hero, his name is...

I hope that you like it =)

PS: SOrry about my bad english xD

Fateliante
Bring out the medal, our noble hero has returned! This is really good stuff, mrhawi. I can definitely hear the LoZ Overworld Theme influence on this one with small hints of Chrono Trigger OST Frog Theme. Nevertheless, this makes out to be a nice original piece. Did you use Edirol Orchestral for this song? If so, I'm loving it. Great melody written, the brass section and timpani combo really brings out the best of this song, and of course, makes it hero-worthy. smile.gif Great job, I've taken keen interest in a lot of your music, mrhawi. Keep doing what you do best! happy.gif
X-M-O
After being away so long I have to catch up on all this music! I'm happy! laugh.gif

Secante De Laralay almost has a French tone to it, but keeps to what sounds like a carnival theme. =]

Overworld Theme - Zelda sounds almost perfect! It's one of my favourite theme songs, so of course I have to be critical of it. wink.gif
The musical notes are off slightly in several locations, but you did well enough. I think by making it flow the way you did, the notes were less noticeable. Of course that does give it a more artificial tone (it's hard to play that many notes and for that long on a wing instrument without taking a breath, lol), so it gets an artificial sound from the compression of the notes (too smooth, I guess is how I could say it).
Very good though, overall. I have heard lots of versions of this theme and most of them screw it up badly (or play it so fast that you don't know what you just heard). You have the right tempo, but if you were to get all of the notes correct and put more emphasis into each note (allowing it to be played and to rest before the next note; where applicable), then I think it would turn out much better. happy.gif

I Have A Hero, His Name Is... definitely sounds like it could come off of the LoZ theme (as Fateliante mentioned), but it has its own unique melody. It's a nice piece, though it's rather short. (I guess I say that to you a lot, sorry - lol.) XD
It definitely meets the "hero music" style (which is why it comes close to matching the LoZ theme music), so the title really suits it. =]
(It suits it also because it ends too soon, like the title does, lol.) =D
mrhawi
Fateliante: You are the hero from the song xD, because your music is awesome. I'm glad that you liked my song, and you got it right, I was inspired on LoZ theme (I used some scales from the overworld theme xD). Thanks for your comment =).

X-M-O: I'm glad that you liked my song. Well, you are right in your critic about my cover, and all of those mistakes are because I suck using FL studio (I mean technically), but I know how to fix those mistakes. I need to practice even more now, thanks for your help, I will try to improve =).

Well, another theme:

Gwhehehe: Strange name, strange song, this is for a "bad but fun villain".

I hope that you like it =)
X-M-O
You're right! It does sound like a bad but fun villain, lol.
If the Joker didn't have the theme he already has, this would do well for him. XD
Maybe even the Riddler actually. wink.gif
mrhawi
Thanks for the response =).

Desert Theme

=)
X-M-O
That's a really cool desert theme; sounds like one I've heard from a "Tales Of" game I played once before.
It's pretty smooth and fairly short (lol), but it sounds excellent. happy.gif
mrhawi
Oh! thanks for the response X-M-O, I should break that 1 min per song limit, but I can't, I tried to make it longer...

No Name Song

=)
Fateliante
Gwehehehe: It's shredding time, awesome hard rock/metal piece! It's a pretty funny title, but a wicked theme for a bad villain and it really is fitful for one at that. I really loved the solo/lead guitar scale techniques you've used there, it adds a nice touch for an already cool theme. wink.gif

Desert Theme: Very cool intro, kinda on the same line as Gwehehehe but has a nice change in melody after the 4th bar which very much sounds Middle Eastern, but what I like about this song is that it doesn't run on to be an entirely Middle Eastern inspired piece; some sections are different yet all flow smoothly. As X-M-O mentioned, it is a tad short, this one could definitely run on a little bit longer since there is much potential, irregardless, it is still a nice desert tune. smile.gif

No Name Song: Now this one is really interesting, it's a very serene, waltz-like piece, I like it! To be honest, I can't put my finger on where this is inspired from, maybe from the early Classical era? I can somewhat hear some elements of Beethoven in there. All in all, it's melodious, you can almost lull someone to sleep peacefully just listening to this. tongue.gif

These are really good, mrhawi and I can definitely say that the VST you're currently using seems to work out for you. Looking forward to hearing more songs, keep up the great work. happy.gif
X-M-O
No Name Song actually starts out with, and maintains throughout, a melody that is very similar to one in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I can't identify the name of that song though because it isn't one of the main ones in the game and I haven't played that game in forever, lol.
Anyway, it is beautifully done and I love it! happy.gif
Stern
Camille Theme - A very cool and sweet theme. I guess Camille is a character? Because it has a very unique sound that could go well with a brave, but sweet hero/heroine.

En La Misticidad - Is cool and mysterious. It reminds me a bit of the Treno theme of FF9. A very cool piece! biggrin.gif

Idea xD/Courage - Is very cool, sounds like a battle theme. Very reminiscent of Megaman music. Brilliant!

En Guarde (Boss Theme) - Amazing piece. This fits so well for a boss battle. The intro reminds me of Bloody Tears from the Castlevania series.

Abstract Revolution - It's very hard to give any feedback on this song, so many different ideas in one composition! Well-made nonetheless!

Un Pequenño Descanso - I enjoyed listening to this piece. It's very relaxing and the melody reminds me a bit of Greensleeves! The guitar sounds really good by the way, what VST/Sound font is that from?

Misticidad 2 - Very sweet and calming sounding. I can imagine lyrics to this piece, maybe a ballad. I like this one a lot ;D

Secante De Laralay - This was very different. Sounds a bit like carnival/tivoli music tongue.gif. The ending was nicely done!

Overworld Theme (Zelda Cover)
- Great sounding VSTs! As the others mentioned it's hard to notice the error's that you mention. It sounds very nice!

I have a hero, his name is...
- Very fanfare-like. Sounds a bit like a military event or rally. Maybe they hand out medals of honor? Who knows. I like it tongue.gif

Gwehehehe
- Such a cool melody. It's sound like this villain is teasing you. He could be a bit like the joker from batman, only driving being a part of hells angels instead. Cool and funky!

Desert Theme - This is nice and certainly fitting for a desert theme, but more like a scary desert theme or something. It has an eerie ring to it.

No Name Song
- Sweet and simple! Very sad, yet uplifting. Nice job!

I'm sorry for such short feedback for each individual song, but I wanted to at least comment something about each one!

Keep on composing!

Lon lon ranch. I see it. I'm just waiting for the little girl to queue in the Ocarina.
I also feel slight ties to Epona's Song.
It's funny how biased we are when all a track has to do is sound slightly similar and our mind just bridges the gap for us.

Yes! That's it exactly!
Thanks Shablo5. ^^

When done correctly, I thoroughly enjoy songs that sound similar to SNES games. Those SNES games have the most iconic music in the gaming world, and some of the melodies are still being used in games today (just with a new "flare", which is usually pretty decent). =]
thatbennyguy
World Map Theme:
This is a very peaceful theme, with some nice strings and harp pieces. The beginning has a feeling of adventure to it, which is very evident. Then it goes into a nice harp solo-type-thing, which is more peaceful. The arpeggios give it a feeling of delicateness, and the harps on top are very nice also. At about 1:30 I start to realize that this is the chord progression to Pachebel's Canon, which always works, doesn't it? tongue.gif Overall a very nice theme that makes me want to travel the world in adventures!

Shop Theme:
It's a very nice Spanish-esque theme with the horns over the top. It's kind of like there's this little trio of musicians playing in the corner of the shop, just entertaining you. And I like that feeling. It has several stops, before continuing, and a little shaker that I can hear in the corner of my ear. It's a short piece, but it's also nice to hear. So overall, well done, good job.

I won't go too much off topic past this point, but i've always felt there was a few different ideas brought up recently. "Why does video game music suck?" or "Why don't we get the same feeling as we did back in the day of SNES music?"

Do you think music today sucks? Or to rephrase, do you think music created in the 8bit era was superior? Why/Why not?

Personally, I think they are miles apart. I think technology has come so far that the music CAN'T be worse. However, I think the reason Snes music was so Iconic, is BECAUSE of the limited toolset the artists had to work with. It's those simple rhythms and melodies that kept them in our head for 5, 10, 15 years. Now with the entire orchestra being called on to provide the score, it's harder for it to be embedded into our brains. And if it is, it's certain parts that resemble techniques used back in the old 8bit era.

If this topic at all interests you, I found this video pretty interesting on the topic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKgHrz_Wv6o
Plus just wave upon wave of nostalgia.

Okay, enough off-topic for me.

Not borked over here sir! o/

I can't reply (I will reply later), because I don't have much time right now.

??? Battle Theme - MrHawi (larger than 1 min xD)

See ya!
X-M-O
I love this one! happy.gif
It sounds very familiar, but I'm too forgetful to remember where I've heard similar music, lol.
Is this a reworking of a previous theme?
mrhawi
Oh! thanks for comment =). And yes, that theme is one of my old ones, but I like to remake it =).

I have no inspiration lately, so I'm making covers of old tracks from SNES. I made one of my favorites, here is it:

Sparkster - Final Boss Theme

And the original one:

Original One

Bye =).
