THE STORY
Life’s tough for Croid Mason, a gangster living in the inner city of Colorado. What makes things worse is that Croid is sent off into the Correlli Estate to kill the local crime-lord, Don Correlli. Strangely enough, when he arrives the Don is already dead. Shocked from this, he is then randomly attacked by the Correlli members who have turned into flesh eating cannibals or in other words zombies and while all of this is occurs, a zombie outbreak floods the city. Croid manages to escape the estate to find that the city isn’t safe tagging along with some other survivors. Will it be possible for him to survive the horrors ahead?

Another infected city by zombies.. biggrin.gif Good luck to release the full game.
Looking foward.

Just thought I'd upload some updated screenshots about the sprites I've been working on for Project Viral. I need to have many different types of zombies as well as the few mutants around too.

It looks good, but you should work on your mapping a little bit. It's mostly passable, but, that apartment screenshot for one, the hallway looks way too cluttered, I'm not even sure what's going on in that bathroom, and that sofa looks like it's blocking any possible path to the TV. And that streetlamp in the second screenshot is, like, right in the middle of the sidewalk when it should be at the edge of it. It's just not as realistic as it should be.

Though, the game looks pretty damn cool, I'll be sure to try it out when you get something up!
obsorber
Yeah your right, the apartment is an old map though. I was trying to test out a map with taller sprites. However I decided to stick to normal size rmxp sprites instead...

Anyways thanks for showing an interest. thumbsup.gif

The protagonist of PRV2 is a gangster of to kill the local crimelord at the start of the game before the zombies appear all over the city. I'm planning for this game to be relatively longer than the prequel. I'm aiming for at least 2 and a half hours or more instead of the shorter hour and a half game for the original. The storyline will be more detailed and the tension with the zombies will be more intense. The city will actually feel over run with zombies because I currently have 25 different zombie charactersets, some from the prequel and that doesn't include the mutants. biggrin.gif

You'll find that when in the city it's best to run from zombies and to use your weapon to get out of difficult obstacles. The shooting for the game is much cleaner than Project Viral Disc One or Zero and its better to use guns than melee weapons in this game.
Twin Matrix
I see a naked RTP man with a penis. Hawt.

Anyhow, love the project you've got going on here, just not too much of a fan of the tileset. Those sidewalk tiles, ungh. They look very noisy and bad.
obsorber
Yeah don't like the tileset much either but its the best city sets I could find, modify and edit for my needs. A cheers for that. biggrin.gif

Also the game is rated mature and there is also some bad language in game.

I've finished the intro to the game which is optional to watch at the start of the game. Also gave the player the option of easy difficulty or hard. Now I just gotta create a quick sequence if you decide to skip the intro before I can start proper developing the game. I'm still planning to update the Title screen and add a little bit more to it. Up until now I've been mainly doing weapon testing and creating zombie sprites. I've managed to finish creating a knife, a pistol and a shotgun.

This game is still a work in progress. I need to create elevator sequences for the Correlli Estate before the city is infected with zombies. Guns seem to be working smoothly in this game. However there is one bug which isn't too major at the moment. dry.gif

I think a dash system will make the game more difficult as the player can't run too long away from the zombies. I wonder what everybody thinks about making choice scenarios which could cause player to die if they choose the wrong one at certain points in the game?

My idea is that Croid will eventually flee to a Cafe whilst running from the zombies. Then try to escape from city eventually but I'm not going to try to think ahead too much yet until I've stamped a base for the plot to carry on. So far I'm thinking characters such as a police officer who is dining at the Cafe alongside with a Medic or maybe just one of them. Then your office worker, the bar staff, Pimp, Pretty Lady.

I want this game to be more story orientated which the original definitely lacked. There was little to no story there.

However I have no ideas what the purposes these characters will have before they either die or help the protagonist and essentially escape and survive the game with him. I'm all ears...

EDIT
My exams end today so it will give me more time to work on Project Viral, test and create new sequences and possibly develop a short demo of what to expect soon.

THREAD UPDATE
A new screenshot has been added to the thread. happy.gif

Screenshot of CAFE, Near end of Demo

Hey I just wanted to say I've nearly finished the demo run of the game briefly showing the player what to expect from it. I just need to finish the final scenes then go back and do a little bit of revamping where needed then I can upload the demo release. After the demo is released I'll probably won't work on this project for a while and go back to my main project, the magnus light. So basically expect a download in a couple of days or so. wink.gif

I just thought I'd add that the demo is up for download if anyone wants to try it out. smile.gif

Please post some feedback thanks. I want to know what you think about it.

I've played some of your demo, and here's my thoughts (don't expect my constructive criticisms at the moment, I can't be assed):

Well, as far as I got the mapping was pretty good. I have no problem with your maps at all. Could you tell me where you got those tilesets from? biggrin.gif

As for controls, by god am I disappointed with this. Even for RPG Maker, I found movement very stiff and quite hard to run away from zombies EVEN when dashing. This maybe there incidentally, but I found it a huge pain in the ass to cope with. But I I liked how you thought realistically with this, adding an energy bar for when you dash (no one can keep on dashing forever, even with a high stamina).

As far as attacking goes, I found it extremely delayed. I had to ram the 'A' button (I think it was) several times to kill one zombie. This is a pain in the ass, and I think some players would be screwed when ambushed by a horde of zombies, unless they knew what they were doing.

One thing I definitely enjoyed though, is the tension. Some aspects in this demo made me ask loads of questions like: 'What's through that door?' 'Will a zombie jump out and make me sh*t my pants?'. During the start of the Demo, I wet myself when I was walking along, minding my own business, when BAM! A zombie came out of a door and hunt me down. Good job!

The music adds to this tension, so I think you've got quite a good Horror/Survival game going on here.

Pros:
-Mapping is pretty good for my standards.
-Some realism in some aspects.
-So much tension, which is what any Horror/Survival game should have.
-Very creepy music to back up this tension.

Cons:
-Movement is very stiff, which can become a pain in the ass very quickly, especially when the Dash meter is null.
-Attacks are very delayed, which can lead to uncertain death.

Final Verdict: 7.5 / 10 (Y)

Um, that background image you use for the Title Menu is from the graphic novel-The Walking Dead. Do you have permission to use it?

Tony Moore is the artist: http://tonymooreillustration.com/gallery/m...p?g2_itemId=549

You should be careful what you use just in case man.
obsorber
No I don't have permission to use it just like I don't have permission to use the Resident Evil Soundtracks. This game is not for commercial purposes so I won't exactly be making a profit from it. I'll give credit no doubt though...
Kread-EX
Considering that Tony Moore is easily accessible through his website, you could at least have asked him, don't you think? I don't know, propose him to advertise for his novel in exchange or something like that...
You never know what might happen; for instance, the guy who made Portal's music gave to Beleren the permission to use one of his tracks in a commercial game and for free.

At least ask him.
obsorber
I don't know who Tony Moore is. Type in zombies and the image was found on Google images. I'll ask him anyways if you give me the link to his site but like I said I'm not going to sweat my ass off looking for permission for some of the files I've used because practically everyone on this website uses music resources from other games which is the main resources that I have used that don't belong to me or at least haven't been tweaked a little. All I can do there is give credit....

EDIT
I just did some research on the walking dead comics. Apparently the TV series is based off this comic where I've just realized I've already watched the whole first series. I was inspired by some of those episodes which gave me some inspiration for the game. Who would have guessed that. Anyway I still haven't found the site yet. Heck I'm not even sure what I'm meant to be looking for...

I just wanted to say this thread will probably be updated sometime in January with more information about the game. Tony Moore will be credited 2! laugh.gif However, for now the demo is available to play of Project Viral 2. The game is much cleaner than the original game with less lag and better game-play mechanics. With so many exams underway, Project Viral 2 as well as my other projects are on hiatus while I develop Magnus Legend. I will return to working on this game in late January. biggrin.gif

Just to say, the updated demo release lets the player move faster. Instead of the original slow movement before making action more fun and less dull.

Your game seems to be missing a core element...dead bodies..

Did those in a few min, you get the idea though, I can edit those "Zombies" to look a lot more real since no one else is asking for me lol.
obsorber
It has dead bodies, if you play the demo you'll see this. I prob won't use much of your quick resource because the sprites have to be modern characters not people dressed in medieval clothing...

Anyways thanks for looking into it. There are 3 sprites that look useful for the game which I might use...

I posted all the other char sprite dead bodies in the art gallery I think... so that should give you some variety, if you have like a main char sprite that you wanted to show dead and mangled I could do that for you happy.gif
