(I hope this is the right place to put this >.>)

So I downloaded the trail of Unity and when I got into it, everything is fine. So far, no problems while running, which REALLY surprised me. I thought my PC would puke it back up at me and wouldn't run it, but so far, its running great.

Anyways, so I started messing around it and made some mountains (which was pretty fun xD) and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this? I know its not really good with 2d, I don't mind that. I can use RMXP/VX for other types of games. If anyone has some tutorials, or any help on how to use this, that would be great. I'm checking out the UNITY tutorials and will be looking at them, but I haven't found anything that explains what each button/feature does, so I'm a bit lost >.>

Well, if anyone can provide assistance, I'd really appreciate it! happy.gif

I've worked with Unity before. Let me start off by warning you that Unity is not for beginners. You should have a pretty solid programming background before you start attempting to make a game with it. There are some good Unity tutorials on the official website that should get you started, but again, I recommend being pretty good with programming if you want to do anything interesting with it.

If there are some specific questions you have, feel free to ask and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.

There's also Torque3D which is what I'll be using for my first 3D game, I do have programming experience and I can probably jump right into Unity but it'll take longer to learn 3D than simple 2D games.

Torque3D mind you was once over $1000, now all garage game engines are now $99^^

@Sailerius:
Yea, that's what I've been told...I'm gonna be using it to create beautiful scenery for a while first, to get a hang of it... This might sound really weird, but I can't navigate through the UNITY forums. I can't see to find tutorials that are for starters. I downloaded one of theirs, and it said it was for people who learned Java and wahtnot...

@Rukiri:
Torque3D? I've never heard of it... ohmy.gif The website seems to be down...is there another place I can check out for it? :>

Unity is very beautiful from what I've been doing. Made some pretty mountains and fields xD

I've been looking at Unity myself and even with my coding background in Java like they recommend I'm having a hard time doing anything with it. It's apparently got a very steep learning curve, and I'd rather work with something like Torque which has a very large userbase and loads of documentation for beginners, since it'd be easier to grasp from the start.
Rukiri
Torques the better of the engines imo, but if you have the experience I'd go for it.. I had a hard time doing much of anything but did manage some cool particle effects though.
MagitekElite
Hm...does Torque require the same system requirements as Unity then? If so, it might just run on my PC...

Blender is a great free 3d modeling engine, you can make games with it quite easily, I could make a 3d game (that involves a rolling ball) in 5 minutes.
MagitekElite
Do you have a link to it? Unity is great and I wanna continue to use it, but currently I'm seeking help at their forum for a software problem. (cannot lay grass down xD)

Oh thanks! I'll look at it tonight when I get home :3

But, if anyone knows anything about Unity, I'll be glad to hear. I'd still like to use Unity as well smile.gif
