oh wow. Update 3 is out and i still need to upload my files ^^
sry i am rlly busy right now..and it would be better if you ask me which character you want because
it takes a long time to upload everything and i am working on my Zelda game too. Just finished the
Titelscreen (first version)

my titelscreen. If you have some ideas to make it better..just tell me.


@ my sprites: i will upload my scarecrow set later and a mask set just to show you an example.

That's not the offical patch 3, that's more of 2.5 it was a demo for kingcharizard to see how pze works as of today.

More professional than most titles I have seen! smile.gif And about your sprites, feel free to post more of them if you like. wink.gif Although I am just fine with sprites for now - I am not in need for any specific sprite resources. It is up to you! smile.gif Your share of sprites is always welcomed! Any sprites you share with us, I will cope them in the sprite folder. smile.gif

I'm working on making the title screen from the minish cap for pze, I'm making individual sprites for each function, I even included maps for the correct positioning.

Here's an example screen.



That's a photoshop animation btw, not the actual screen, it has to be coded first, the cool things is the screen back ground is animated, the jem is animated, link running is animated, and the name bar lights to orange, but instead of each file having a running link, the animation moves to which file is selected, other wise if there no file there is no running link, this will also cut down on animations, there will always be 1 spinning jem, the animated back ground, and back ground audio, upon valid file name and selection the running link will show up, but only in the status area, and only 1 running link at a time will show, instead of the 3 in the current pze. I still have a few other screen that i need to sprite, and a hud, so I will need all the weapon and items being used so i can place them in the proper place.

Not sure where to place the quest symbols, such as pendants and the triforce, and the sword and shield, but heres what I had in mind.







there's no shield with the big goron because it didnt allow a shield, as it is a 2 handed sword, same goes for great fairy sword, fierce deity will have no sword as it didn't have an icon in game, it was through the mask, that the sword changed.

I saw Links longsword at you char screen. Do you guys have got a longsword animation?
cause i have one and i didnt saw the longsword in patch1 or 2. Will you add it?
Link will get a good range with this thing ^^

long sword, You mean the big goron sword, or the master sword, the first one is the ordon sword, I'm not sure if it's added, but i hope it will be in the future if it isn't already, thats not the offical length btw, those are just a few mock ups.

yeah, i think its the gronon sword. Looking forward to see updates. I upload later a file where link using this sword ^^

Oni links sword is smiliar to the big goron sword (its big too)

this is for night runner, by the for the name input screen, would it be easier to use a font or images for each letter?

I was thinking I want to use the Triforce (TF) from the project, but we could use images too, it might be a bit much for the file display to display the right images for the name. but we wont be able to get À, È, Ì, etc... I think i would have to use a text editor to add the À, and so on.





or would a font closer to the image be better to use?

I think the menu screen could perhaps need a little rework?

i mean something like a blue bubble that goes around link when the mask meets his face.
- so you cant rlly see a detailed transformation but when the shine is gone..you see the transformed link.
you know what i mean? ^^

if not ..i have a gif. about the transformation (just an example) but i am at work right now. Dont
have my data folder ^^

what do you think of this for the light arrows, I'm no pro at blending colors, but i think it looks nice next to the other 2, fell free to take it and re-blend it

hm 3D is a no go like you said allready. At the minish cap style...hm the engine
runs under the lttp style so i wouldnt recommand them. When i am at home i can
upload my full item list. Its every item in Lttp style and i prefer Lttp too cause
its just oldschool and not so colorfull like minish cap. Its more for kids in my opinion ^^

Anyway for people who wanna make a minish cap style game this would be usefull thumbsup.gif

edit: ah and your first sprites (bows) are great. They look smiliar to my sprites. Good work dude!

Very good one, Chakanevil! I loved that giant sheet! Where you found it? am gonna add several of those in PZE (although a bit re-colored to look more "serious")! Thank you for it! biggrin.gif

By the way here are my own items for PZE, which I created (most of them) from scratch.

Aye, no worries, the Wooden Bow you see in my sheet, already has a upgrade. The upgrade is the OOT's bow, and it looks exactly the same as the one in your comment - and it is called Hero's Bow. smile.gif

Ok so I'm wanting to edit the menu system so could you please send all the items and weapon sprites and items, as well as list upcoming items.

I mean this is nice but, i'm wanting to make it with the interactive hud and a new addon I'm sure you'll like, previously where the Link image was a slot for a Link sprite so you can see what link looks like, in his current gear, the problem I'm facing is recreating the menu and still having the same over all appearance.

No one has got back to me on the name input screen btw.

First of all, the version of PZE I gave you is not stabilized yet. I and Night_Runner are working to fix some final issues such as the Equipment Screen, the issues about the slow rupees on PZE's new HUD, and some issues about enemies and shrubs not resetting when player leaves and re-enters the map. As soon as we fix all those things, I will send you immediately the working and stable version of the engine to do whatever you like. ok? smile.gif

ok, i don't like the current way the cursor is on an item to be honest it fell more of

[.....] in stead of [..], it seems a bit too wide to me, just i wanted to go ahead and do a mock up of the name input, i kinda like the Majora mask name input, but I'll keep it int the style of the minish cap. i love the majora mask style item cursor though.

no hurries though, just showing what i had in mind, I love being creative and innovative, I figured the best of all worlds will make the engine more pleasurable.

That is an extremely impressive image list. I'm making a FE game, would it be all right for me to use just a couple of those icons, currently just as filler icons until I get someone to make new ones to replace them?

I felt upon seeing it for the first time that it didn't really have a LOZ feel to it. Seeing a recreation of the OOT name input system would be a very nice addition, in my opinion.

compaired to the boring style of OoT, perhaps maybe i could combine the two name systems into one.



But ya i do kinda like the OoT name input, I think perhaps i'll give the file/load system the feel of OoT, with the file icons and blue background, so it's not so childish, because I link the running link swords, shields, etc...

There was a little trouble with the integration of the File Display Script you send to us for PZE. It was not functioning well and it often had a noticeable lag and loss in FPS. It was not working well.
I am very glad you managed to make a File Display to work that good with PZE, and I am sure you and Night_Runner can integrate it in the PZE! I could love to see it in PZE, with a OOT or LTTP theme/skin and having the Minish Cap's item/weapon display features. biggrin.gif

I don't find good the idea about displaying swords and shields in the File Display Screen. Lets forget that, because, the Swords and the Shields in the game are selectable - both old and new ones the player gets. He can wear level 1 shield with level 2 sword or level 1 sword with level 3 shield, etc, at his desire. The older shields/swords are never replaced by the newer ones, and they are available to use even after you find a better one.

So displaying shields and swords in File Display is mostly unaccurate. The best is to leave them out and display more important things here, instead. Such as the Medallions (they are 8) and the 3 Spiritual Stones = 11 in total. I am sure that they cover pretty much the Save Display box, along with the Hearts. smile.gif

Well I liked the little bit of a wait between selecting a save file in OOT, and having it pop up with the information about that file. Also, I liked the sounds that went with in, like the confirm and the cancel sounds. (Also used in the start menu, among other places.)

All in all though, a title screen is where a player spend less than 1% of their time in a game so if it looks a little bit weird or out of place, who's going to complain anyway?

Those are good points. A staple in Zelda games is displaying the important quest items and number of hearts that the player has acquired, as well as the amount of time spent playing the game. I really look forward to seeing what kind of a game an experienced developer could make with this, though I likely wouldn't be counted in that.

Here's the new File Select I am working on, i will need some clouds for the full effect, I'm thinking perhaps a fog from the RPG maker, or this background I have in mind,



I kinda feel this is a nice approach to a classic.



What do you think?

I think they are both very nice, but finding clouds that will scroll across the screen like in OoT is a bit of a problem, anyone up for that, to make the clouds move it would take a huge amount of frames, meaning a huge amount of images to display, what could we put in the back ground, that would be nice, any suggestions?

Well, we are not creating a specific Zelda Game,, so we better use no specific sword themes as background. The background could be a basic one, simplified, such as in the first picture, plus a semi-invisible logo added to it. Well, not sure, but the goal is to make it have a 2D feeling instead of a wallpaper feeling. Coz the picture of the sword is a wallpaper I already have on my desktop lol. tongue.gif

PS: Not only that background is a problem, but also the Inventory/Equipment/Map/Quest Status Screens are using a Minish-Cap styled windowskin which I have to fix (again) so to match well and in a neutral way with the rest of the game. smile.gif

agree. The OoT one is more neutral then the minish cap one. So its better cause it fits to every game.

Chakanevil, I love the OOT file display screen you made! I really love it. Much better and more neutral than the Minish Cap one.
Now I have to re-texture the windowskin of the Inventory/Equipment/Quest Status/Map screens so they fit better with that OOT File Display Screen by you.

Thanks, I'm glad everyone likes it so much.

Also I wanted to point out that there is no earth, or wind medallion in OoT, but i still added them on the display, also should it display rupee amount and number of masks, because both MM and OoT displays the rupee amount.

i did, all all the ones in the PZE, I also edited the file display some,

Day 3 Progress Below, more of the actual layout on this one, still some menu text that needs re-worked, but that will be fixed today.



That's not final yet, as to the the Jewels from minish cap are there too, I figured I would add them as there are plans for the four sword in PZE, but thats the new way I edited things, Please leave me some feed back If I should keep this style or remain with the day 2 style, as well as needed features or features need to be removed, so far I'm satisfied with Day 3 design, but I need the backing of more then just me, to be truly satisfied.

That's the file confirmation, I still have to do name input, Copy and Erase, as well as adding the effect to the file select, because number 2 and 3 move up (animated to file 1 position), but I think I'm making great progress.

Truly, that is one of the most breathtaking zelda save screens I have ever seen. It also gives me a wave of nostalgia because it looks like the original LOZ for the NES's save screen.


I really liked the sword in the background of this screen though... It fit well, in my opinion. OOT is the way to go!

i made most of the windows, but i ran into a problem, i ran out of room, because the name box where the status info is bigger, typically the edge would cover the file 2 icon, but i increased the size to cover the file 3 icon, so for my solution I increased the window size, the reason, is when you copy in OoT you get this screen like below.





So my options were, either size down the status display and lose space, or size the window up and have plenty of space.

Tomorrow I will work on transitioning all the smaller windows to the bigger window

Plus the gold Hylian crest is icing on the cake

Below is a quick example, (the image as the title background, uncoded) of what can be expected of the file select.



I'm also being kind and leaving the backgrounds off the images so that silent can code, the background display seperate, if you decide to change it, such as below.



I will also make a custom zip file containing all the menu's with 70% opathity, for that ghostly effect, such as above, you'll just replace the current files that will come with PZE, with that of the custom pack.

Hello im new,

I got a question when I start the game, the game doesnt start because the script just hangs on me and I could run crysis 2 on maximum after the patch.
Could this script be combined with mode 7?

The "Script is Hanging" Error can be fixed by opening the game and going to the Script Editor. Here, locate the "Credits" script near the bottom of the list and edit it: In the "Credits" script, on the first lines of the script, you should find the line

CREDITS_FONT = "Default"

and change it to:

CREDITS_FONT = ""


Save the changes and now the Script is Hanging error should be gone! Enjoy! smile.gif

Apart from that, its just a bit laggy sometimes, also what happens if someone does not want to include all these items? Wouldn't then a ring menu like twilight princess be better, because one could end up with all these empty slots.
