Ya i was thinking a fierce diety mask would be so cool, by the way, i forgot to back up the map that i edited for hyrule castle so I'll have to start from stratch, not looking too happy to that, I sent it to the recycle bin apparently. Not looking foward to it.
Edit
started to redo the map, i added a few things and changed a few things to allow for the correct layout of hyrule castle, the map i'm editing is ALTTP Hyrule.png as it has the right colors, i figured it be better to use this then to create a seperate map, doing that you run into problems with positioning a lot, should be finished with hyrule castle uploaded working demo later today or tomorrow, you will have to set the water, as I don't know how to do that, and the events, such as chopping bushes, and lifting those huge rock, I will also add in the shadows around the walls, so that they display right

Sure. Glad to help. I will do them and let you understand how those events work.

i was thinking about a feature that would be cool, at least i think so, the Infamous "Hey!" and "Listen!" that Link's fairy uses throughout OoT, could also gives hints as to what your suppose to do.
By the way is there a tag for youtube videos? Would it be [ youtube]?

Don't get me wrong, it's an iconic noise, but do NOT overuse it. It will grate on a persons patience if it happens everytime a certain action occurs and that action is used FTEN.

Hello everyone, we have a nice small surprise for the Zelda fans who are excited to hear about the Project Zelda Engine's ongoing improvements to the Menus and User Interface (UI).
The original Project Zelda Engine's poor and lone Inventory Menu:
Original Inventory Menu (only 1 screen)
The new -split into 4 screens- Inventory Menu:
The Inventory Screen
The Equipment Screen
The Quest Status Screen
The Map Screen
You can navigate between the 4 screens using the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys. The new Inventory menu already works much smoother than the old one that came with old Project Zelda Engine. Our developing team works slowly, as we want to work on Project Zelda Engine without any pressures (we are not company - we develop the engine for free and for fun, like always), and at same time, we are working on "deeper" sections of the Project Zelda Engine we haven't touched before. Our goal is to provide the community with a really good Engine that lets you to create nice custom Zelda Games!
To note that the work is ongoing - It will really take long time, as we are working to improve the Project Zelda Engine's functions, expand it, and minimize the usage of Common Events. Now, most of all those functions will use Scripts instead. This improves FPS. Our "Beta Testers" already proved that there is indeed a
FPS increase in Project Zelda Engine's games. We are already excited with the results of that work.
To note that things may change in those screens I posted above, and new screens may be added or existing ones may be changed/improved in the ongoing progress

Feel free to tell us your thoughts about it

I am a huge fan of this system. I will never make a game with it, but anyone who takes the time to create an editor/starter kit for a game this expansive, then goes out and actually does it WELL is a biggie on my list.
Also, the four screen inventory: AWESOME.

Dear gamers, is there something you don't like in the Quest Status Screen or its icons?

To note that the "papers" and "scrolls" around the Heart Piece Container Meter take no count, as they are for display only - they have no purposes in the game - those papers are supposed to be replaced by the game developers who need to add real items here for their games.
Any feedback is welcomed.

The only thing that I like less, is the lower right heart, since I think it looks way too basic against everything else. Couldn't you make it so it looks like a gem or something that you can see half through or something?
Other than that, great progress!

@Chakanevil
Hehe, May 2011 may not be the final date, as we have some of our teammates already very busy in real life (I and one of the teammates are studying for the university those days, while the rest of the team is working). This is normal, because the Spring is the most demanding period after January, and before the relaxation of the Summer. As some of our having some duties in real life, the progress may get delayed. But this is not a problem for you, right?

To note that we are still working on it, although with a smaller speed than before, and we will, when we have more free time, continue on

I am working on Project Zelda Engine for 3 whole years, so don't expect it to be complete very soon. Our goal is to expand it further and we already are doing those expansions.

So far, we have done the description files of Quest Status Screen. We now have to do the same for the Equipment and Inventory screens.
Here are the Icons/graphics of the Quest Status screen, each icon/item description in its own .png file, categorized into subfolders.

I look forward to update 3 (4?) if for no other reason than to have another cool kit to play around with.

Incidentally, you can compose your own ocarina songs right?
SilentResident
Apr 1 2011, 03:00 PM
@Klokinator
The next Update is the #3. And of course it will not be the final.
Yep Project Zelda Engine supports the addition of custom songs made by players. You can compose your own songs. As many as you want. There is no limit.
To add your songs to Project Zelda Engine, all what you have to have the song's music file placed in \Audio\ME directory of Project Zelda Engine, and then edit the Common Event "Ocarina". Follow the entries of other songs in it to see the Common Event works, and repeat for your own song. Simple.
Enjoy!

This is a very nice starter kit... I have developed part of a game in it, the problem is I cannot test it due to the Script is Hanging... anyway to fix this before patch #3?
Edit: Don't worry, I figured out a way to improve the kit without the Script Hanging...
SilentResident
Apr 19 2011, 01:48 PM
@pokepal2007
Of course there is an way to fix it. Open to edit the game and go to Tools > Script Editor.
In the Script Editor, scroll down to the end of the list of scripts and look for the script called "Credits". This is causing your "Script is Hanging errors".
Edit the Credits script: one of the first lines in the script, is the line CREDITS_FONT = "Default". Right? Heh, you have just to change the "Default" into "" and you are done. Close and save the game. Play it. Now the Script is Hanging Error has gone for good!

@Klokinator
We haven't finished our work on Update Patch 3 yet. We work slowly on it, as there are many things we are doing on it.
Like the Update Patch 1 which took long time to finish, due to its massive improvements, Update Patch 3 is very very big, as it changes the way the menus work, and also it improves the mechanisms and the UI. Things like that take need some time so to finish and perfecting. I know you are excicted with the Update Patch 3, but, as you see, it needs its time, much like Update Patch 1 did, which everyone loved. Everyone here loved Update Patch 1 that bought the Seasons System to you, the Lighting, Weather, the new weapons, the Swimming, etc, because we worked carefully on it.
In case you wanna get a taste of Update Patch 3's new menu system, let me know and I will upload to you an -unsupported- and -binding updates- demo (or beta version) of it which I can share with you, just for your curiosity.

.
Stay tuned, we will share more news about it when we are ready. Enjoy!

Hehe, thank you my dear, but slower progress is always expected especially in this season of the year, before the vacations of the summer. So there is no reason to worry. We are already making some progress with the engine.
I am thinking to release a pre-Update Patch 3 (lets call it Update Patch 2.9) for everyone who cannot wait that long for the Update Patch 3.
The Update Patch 2.9 will contain all the changes/fixes that come with the Update Patch 3 except the improved Menu and HUD, which are the last things we haven't finished yet.
The Update Patch 2.9, (if we plan to create it), will include all the bug fixes, including the fix for Script is Hanging errors the people are facing in their games.

I forgot to add some info in the first page about the full Day/Night cycle. I am sorry

If you have already downloaded and played the Project Zelda Engine for some minutes, then, you probably noticed it.
I updated now the first page with some info and a picture of it.
====================================================
07.)
The Day/Night Cycle has been added!====================================================
- In addition to the Seasons system, one more feature seen in the official Legend of Zelda game series, has now been added to the Project Zelda Engine: the 24-Hours-based automated Day/Night Cycle! The Day/Night cycle is an automated system that gives you the opportunity to enjoy the amazing, beautiful and colorful transitions from sunset to night and from night to morning and day and in general see your game's world changing from day to night! This gives the game's world a completely new immersion, living breath and a brand new experience, by watching NPCs doing their everyday shedules, the house windows to emit warm light to the darkest outdoors, listen to the mother nature, and hear the village chickens doing "Kikiriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikouuuuuuuuuuu" as they welcome the dawn of a new day, and even the wolf's growl as the dusk succeeds the sunset, and see the beautiful fairies flying under the moon's light. The Day/Night Cycle also gives you the opportunity to create time-of-day-based events in your game, like specific items or enemies to appear only at night, house doors to be locked certain times of a day etc. To not mention that the Day/Night system works in harmony with the Weather system and the Seasons system of Project Zelda Engine, and their combination gives the nature an ever bigger variety of daytime/nighttime colors for you to use in your Zelda game!

You didn't tried the Project Zelda Engine

You make me sad... You have been in those forums for 4 whole months now, and you never tried it...
Too bad! It could please you...
Is beautiful if you try it! It has 2 complete maps for you to playtest it and see its features...
And yes, anything matches. You can be at Autumn, under strong storm during the night, or be at Summer, under clear sky, during sunset... Anything matches.
You really make me sad you haven't tried it when you said you will...

????

I am completely confused now...

The Day/Night Cycle, the Season Cycle and the Weather System are
already present in the Project Zelda Engine since Update Patch 1..............

You don't have to wait for Patch #3 so to see it.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES OF THE UPCOMING UPDATE PATCH #3!
The Update Patch 3, for Project Zelda Engine will bring to you even more features!:- The Boomerang and the Hookshot are now able to pick up small items such as rupees and hearts!
- Improved Loading Screen with a more clear and better logo.

- Better and more beautiful graphics for the Song of Healing.
- More reliable Auto-Font Install script! By Night_Runner!
- All the Font Files have been synchronized!
- Bug Fix: Falling in the ground pits during the storm, will no longer reset the Storm's background music!.

omg did you got hit by lightning too? Same for me! Wow that makes sense! I was hit too in the storms before the Easter's vacations. You see, I got -finally- rid of that old Graphics Card (even in an unorthodox way). Lightning: what a good reason so to -finally- get the better Graphics Card of my dreams

) Lol. Ah my dear. At least I wish the best for your machine. Lets hope no more lightnings, as our pockets run out of money

Season: Autumn,
Sky: Rainy with blue fog tone,
Time of Day: Sunset.
