@Silent:
Here is the Script. Also, it isn't XAS Specific, I tested it in the old PZE, and it worked, exept for some minor glitches due to the fact that the map's size is not a product of 20x15.....

EDIT: What are there for enemies so far? Because I've managed to make a (somewhat lame) Octorok, but I might be able to help.

Hehe we might have a use of your help! biggrin.gif We are building a decent dungeon, with lots of rooms planned for it, and every room being focused on the playtesting of the weapon's abilities.
We are creating rooms to playtest the new weapons we are importing to XASABS PZE and laters we probably will populate the dungeon with monsters. happy.gif

EDIT:
The demo dungeon will be come with the Update Patch 4, for anyone to play! wink.gif Here is a picture of it:

Awesome! smile.gif
You are going to add a boss and a medallion/spiritual stone at the end of the dungeon?

The new HUD look great !
You make a f**king good work laugh.gif

I agree smile.gif The work here of all the developers is superb ^^

I think he means the random dungeon that rmxp does, in that case it would look really sloppy, things would be every where.

the truth that look good version 4!

if you want I can work with the Spanish translation of the project! since I'm moving the version 3!

besides that I'm graphic designer and I can help in several ways (less pixelart)
for example, menus, titles, game overs, hud.

rpgmakerxp manege in all that is events (with its variables, switches) and a good mapping!

not for profit, just my way of thanking such work!

greetings!

PS: I am using the google translator to write in English, so it must sound strange as I write lol

I can easily interpret the English, but not write.
but I can quickly translate into Spanish.

Actually, we have to make a Zelda-styled Gameover picture for the Update Patch 4!! If can you make one, it could be great! It has to be 640x480 image size! xD

Well, if you get script is hanging with UP3, there is no much I can do for this. The old PZE (from UP1 to UP3) was pretty much a slow engine. Not a surprise.

The PZE UP4 is a completely different engine, as it runs on XAS Action Battle System engine. and PZE is build in it from scratch, without importing any of the old, outdated scripts of previous PZE engine versions.

All what I can wish is that we release the UP4 in time. So the people can finally work on their Zelda games without having to wait for the every next Update Patch!

For the gameover screen, I want some kind of a zelda styled Gameover wallpaper - big part of it to be black, to have the word "Game Over" on the middle, etc. Any extras also welcomed. You can guys check the game over screens of the official Zelda games and get some ideas for the PZE's game over screen happy.gif

I was thinking some zelda games have language options like french, Spanish, and English, I was actually thinking about that.
midnightkiss0139
@TheFierceDeity: mine generally works fine, until I put alot of graphics until one of the graphic folders then it either crashes or takes forever to load which is same sort of thing silent was referring to

@Silent: were you just going to have plain game over wallpaper or also going to have link do the whole spinning death effect?

Chakanevil
I like this style.

How hard would it be to make pze have language options, it would have to call a script that translates text into that language.

It won't be hard to make this game over. OK i think its a good idea to use LTTP's game over happy.gif

OK, we don't need a Game Over wallpaper now. We will try make a scripted LTTP-styled game over then.

Difficult - to - Impossible for a RPG Maker XP game. sad.gif

Its how RPG Maker XP works with eventing. - some things will not be easy to translate.

Noooo XDXD I as making a suggestion on a possible game over screen that's all lol

@Chak: I think the only way to translate would be to hard code all the menus and dialogue >.< but the idea of having language options is a great idea smile.gif

Update Patch 3's total file size: 200 MB

Update Patch 4's total file size: 110 MB

Note that the UP4 has more content (audio, scripts, graphics, etc), and, despite that, its filesize is about 45% smaller than the previous patches!

I hope guys you realize what this means. The PZE is no longer that slow and heavy engine we had at past. wink.gif

@S_R: It is every programmer/developer's dream to make updates to a file and the newer versions are smaller than the previous smile.gif I applaud you all for that success biggrin.gif CONGRATULATIONS!!
SilentResident
Thank you, ffomega!

Since the Update Patch 4 is now a completely refreshed and revamped engine that makes use of the awesome and capable XAS Action Battle System, an engine that no longer has those problems and bugs of the old PZE, and generally the UP4 finally has the battles working perfectly, the maps loading very fast, and audio being much smaller in filesize (.ogg format), and scripts working smoothly with each other, and everything else being automated), we the Project Zelda Engine team are deciding to give the Project Zelda Engine a new .exe icon as well.

The new Update Patch 4 .exe icon:

The new icon, as a symbol of respect to the Enterbrain, the RPG Maker XP community, Nintendo and the Zelda fans, is a combination of the classic RPG Maker XP icon and the Project Zelda Engine's previous .exe icon.

We hope you like it!

Edit: Note that this is the icon from which you run your Zelda games! smile.gif

Edit2: You can consider this icon as a small Christmas gift from PZE team for PZE fans! Enjoy! xD

We already know that we got great scripters in the PZE team.

But, again, everytbody in the team has been surprised, yesterday, when Max succeed a challenge that many scripters failerd - to re-write the core limits of RPG Maker XP and break the 999 Switches limit, allowing the gamers to use more than 1.000 switches in their game!!!

Max is a scripter with a high potential. To note that by normal means, the ammount of Switches you can use in RPG Maker XP was limited to 999 only, so people had to be very careful with the usage of switches and variables in their games... At least until now.

I am pretty sure that the Zelda fans will welcome the fact that now in their games they can use even more switches than before! smile.gif

Enjoy!
Chakanevil
wow awesome, I wanna try it out so badly, oh and vx is now available for xasabs, but it's a bit basic compared to xp

Hello all! biggrin.gif We wish everyone a Happy New Year and we are proud to announce that the PZE team has a gift for the Zelda fans who wait for the Update Patch 4! Lets say its a gift by the team to the fans for the new year:

The Project Zelda Engine has the following hardcore RPG Maker XP limits removed:

RPG Maker XP's Variable and Switch caps have been raised to a much higher cap than before - higher than 5.000 in Project Zelda Engine. As everybody can imagine, this is very useful!

A Map Merger has been added to PZE. This allows the gamers to create infinite maps as they desire, skipping the 999 Maps Limit per game on the RPG Maker XP. Now, you can now create as many maps as you want, beyond the 999 map limit, without worrying if there will be enough room as you reach the 999 maps limit! You may now create a Zelda game without worrying about the limit, and make even 1000+ maps!!! Enjoy! smile.gif

We wish you Happy New Year! biggrin.gif

You are welcomed to join our team, if you want. Joining the PZE team is free, and it requires the installation of a free software called Dropbox, because the team that's how it works - we use Dropbox to sync everyone's work into 1 single folder stored somewhere on internet - this way the others can see your work on PZE, but you won't have to upload anything - any changes you do to your copy of PZE, will automatically apply to the PZE of other people.

Let me know if you wanna join us, I will let you know what to do and where to get Dropbox wink.gif

I think i might take that offer.

oh, and i just realized something. In Majora's Mask, i think that the Elegy statues were NPCs, since enemies ignored you and attacked them....... maybe there's a way to make enemies go for an event rather than the player.....

O-one million switches... O_________O

Goddamn maximus, you have improved since you first told me you weren't good at RM hahaha

Edit: Btw, are you gonna make that available for all RMXP games? That's something that will put RMXP a million miles ahead of VX for the contending ohmy.gif
maximusmaxy
Yes the database limit breaker scripts i've written will be able to be used in any project, however i should point this out before everyone gets too excited.
Having 1 million switches causes ALLOT of lag for the RMXP editor, when i did the test my game took an additional half a minute to start up and whenever i tried to do anything involving switches it took about 10 secconds for the editor to respond. It's kinda cool having that many switches but if you don't need them i suggest you don't do it. Having around 50,000 to 100,000 switches however is no problem and won't cause any noticeable lag.
Klokinator
Yeah I figured that xD just curious though, is it possible to convert that script to RMVX as well? I don't use it but lots of other people do so it'd probably be super helpful.

999 really is a lot of switches plus with the fact you can USE RUBY Variables as switches so it's no like it's a big deal, now if this was rm2k3 people would go nuts over it as that's there only means of coding.

I am sorry for my absence from the forums. We had some work to do with the Menus, the scripts and the game's demo maps. smile.gif

As I promised, I am sending now an invitation to Pika22 to join the team! (Pika22, check in some hour your mailbox) smile.gif He is welcomed to join the team and contribute to it in any way he want/like.
Things on PZE go pretty well but since the absense of both Chakanevil and Alexcalibur from the team, we are open for recruiting new members, who are interested to work on the Project Zelda Engine Update Patch 4 and contribute in any way the can - mapping, scripting, graphics, sprites, eventing, resources and more! I am not expecting a CERTAIN work done by the new members - they are absolutely free to help the other teammates in any way they like.

There is only 1 rule in the team: Be careful with the edits - Don't make an edit if you are not certain that this will not cause problems or bugs. wink.gif

Anyone who is willing to join the team, feel free to apply a request here in the forums. Your request could be followed by info such as your skills - what is your experience on RPG Maker XP, what can you do for PZE, what is your favorite field of work (a little of all, or only graphics, or only scripting, or only eventing, or a mixture of both, etc)!

Anyone is welcomed to make an apply to join the team. Don't be afraid! I tell you, its for fun, the team is consisting of good people from across over the world, people who share love for the Legend of Zelda game series, and love to share their work with the community! wink.gif

EDIT: And people who have some experience with XASABS and weapon making, will be highly welcomed to join the team! wink.gif

I got it from drop box I logged into the site, it's on line 601 under xasabs pze

played tested it and I must say I'm really impressed, I know fellow gamers are going to love this version it is much much faster, and the addons are way better than those of the older releases.

by the way what about the spinning cursor?

feel free to edit them so they look better btw.

and yes the save file was corrupted.

So I still get this error when I try to open it:

As someone suggested a few months back I tried moving the audio files from an older version to the new one, but that didn't do anything. Also, I'm on windows 7 if that means anything.

Any help? This project looks amazing and I really really want to try this =(

We've found that FmodEx cause more problems than it solves. Just delete the 2 scripts titled 'FmodEx *' and '(*)Game_System' and that should solve your problem. Make sure you dont delete the default Game_System.
