by Joe is a great example if you'd like to try a complete game using SRM.
I was working on a game using it a while back, though it did like that of the other engines around that time have it's limitations which made me remove things I didn't want to. Personally if you're wanting to do this style of game then there's scripts available for XP and VX which with other configurations may end up being a more limit free method than SRM.
The only thing that still makes me want to use it is the attack section, where you see characters in detail dealing damage. though since there's now a Fire Emblem clone being made for XP I doubt it'll be long before people make that available to suit their tactical scripts.
