While I'm sure many people have been waiting for this for close to 3-4 years it's finally been announced for public! The official public beta starts in February next year!

Current Features:
- Create Flash Games
- Currently supports ActionScript
- Intuitive Editor
- Slickset(programming editor)
- StencylWorks(Basically ask for help sort of thing)
- Built in actor functions via programming
- Easy to use and very fluid mapping editor

The editor is pretty awesome to, check it out!

Btw, I'm in the beta that's where the public release was announced, not the actual(non beta website) site.

Edit: Here's the welcome page.

I can't seem to find it on the site, but what does one's PC have to have to use this? PC recommendations, I mean.
Kread-EX
You can't find it because it's still a private beta, but will be a public beta very soon.
Rukiri
All I can say is people that love Seiken Densetsu 3 or general RPGs are going to love this.
If anyone has questions about stencyl or want screenshots of each interface just let me know. I'm sure I'm not the only.. stencyl user on these forums.

Though this is what IGM SHOULD have been like, hell supports scripting, actually supports event coding. Somethin IGM can't do ever!
Klokinator
I added my name and email to the beta testers list as well. Even though Bwdyeti is making a FE RMXP maker, I'd still like to see if it's possible to make a fire emblem game with Stencyl. If so, then it means people will have 3 options when making a Fire Emblem game.

Man I can't wait.
Rukiri
Fire Emblem is one of the easiest game types to do, rm2k3 can do for lol.. Of course stencyl can do it, it has actionscript 3!

Oh yes I know its a BETA, I was looking for PC recommendations. Even if it is a BETA, shouldn't it include such information on the site?

@Rukiri:
Yes please- if its not too much trouble -- share screenshots. happy.gif

Also, what is Actionscript 3?
Klokinator
^Google... google is your friend. Don't ask a question if it can be typed in google and answered in 6 seconds flat.

Edit: I'm in a good mood, so just this once I'll actually answer a stupid question.

FE is not an easy game type to do. TBSRPG's in general may be easy, but trying to emulate FE6/7/8 with all the little details, including battles, character portraits, original text, identical gameplay anotherwards, is not easy to do. Hell just the battles alone are ridiculously complicated. Luckily someone has taken it upon themselves to actually do it, with RMXP, and yet not suck or borrow someone else's work either. This game is flawless too, and in fact BETTER than the original GBA games in every way.

I just want to see if stencyl would be able to do most of what his does, in case he gives up on his project (Not likely) or it fails miserably as an easy to use FE GM kit.

Thank you Klokinator, for answering my stupid question. happy.gif

Stencyl actually looks really good. I was looking through the games section and people have made great looking games. I remember when Irok made his game. It was really fun xD

When this is public, I'm definitely gonna give it a try. smile.gif

Clicky

Deisgn mode, collision code!

One thing I love about stencyl already is that each time you place an actor on the map it is it's own object! This is one thing I hated about game maker..

Please note this is only the raw collision, no movements have been coded yet.
Design mode is awesome though.. easier to make attributes that's for sure.....
MagitekElite
That looks really confusing... sad.gif
Rukiri
If that confuses ya, try doing formulas! It's simple dude!
Holder
That just looks like a more graphical version of The Games Factory.

How's the platform functions?
I remember TGF having a problem with moving platforms, horizontally you had to keep running to stay on, and vertical ones you had to jump otherwise you'd stick and the fall under it (Fixable but a pain - vertical).

Formulas? wacko.gif

I guess I'll just have to wait for the release. I thought XP/VX looked hard when I switched from 2003 and it wasn't, so I can learn xD
Holder
That does look weird but it's pretty similar to eventing, you can do things without going too far away from basic pseudo code.

I'm one of the people who were waiting for this for 3-4 years and I am amused.
Rukiri
I've been waiting since 06, glad I got into the beta!
Klokinator
How long did it take for them to accept you into the beta by chance?
Xamusel
I'd like to know that as well.

I was accepted within 24 hrs, of course this was 6 months ago.. I get easily 1000 messages a day so yea it was easy for me to miss it the first time.

This is not a engine you would wanna use for a full blown rpg..
