No release date has been announced and it's PS3 exclusive for the time being. Hopefully there won't be more death threats to Square Enix if it does go multi-platforms. Fans are retarded.

And there are multiple XIII's because SE said so. lol Their Fabula Nova Crystallis collection is going to be like the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and the Ivalice Alliance.

I don't know why the text is backwards, I found a couple videos like that. I remember seeing one with the text facing the right way before but I didn't bother looking too hard.

This is already shaping up to be my favorite Final Fantasy. The setting alone is one that I really enjoy but doesn't seem to be used much in RPGs.

I adore that setting.
However it's shaping up to be my least favourite FF.

lol Why's that? Noctis seems like a pretty cool protagonist and the story already intrigues me. Plus an action-based battle system is a welcome change for Final Fantasy.

Noctis seems a character born in a FF fanfiction, brooding and uber strong, with gazillion of swords and able to destroy a whole army all by himself without breaking a sweat.

That leaked gameplay footage was the most uninteresting thing ever. Yes, a guy running through empty environments is very exciting. I'm not really liking the character for the same reason heisenman said. It's an official fanfic, much like Kingdom Hearts. I'm only curious to see how the game actually plays. The name itself has me giggling as I keep seeing it as someone going against the number 13.

Please keep in mind that this is an online game not an actual Final Fantasy in my eyes.
I'll probably get this for the 360 or PS3 depending on if they do the same thing they did with XII.

Dude I think you're thinking of XIV. Versus XIII is gonna be a single player game. As far as I know, XIV is only on PC and PS3, not sure if the PS3 version is out yet. Plus XI was online too and not only was it fun, it was a pretty worthy FF in my eyes.

Yeah, Versus XIII is supposed to be like Noctis is the last member of a dying family clinging to the old ways. They're protecting the world's last crystal and people don't like them for whatever reason. I don't remember. lol I don't know the details of Agito as much.

I really liked Crisis Core's battle system but I guess that's just me. It was fun. I liked Dirge of Cerberus too. Both of those more than FFVII.

Back on topic, FFXIII was supposed to be PS3 exclusive but then it came to 360 and Yoichi Wada's, current President and CEO of Square-Enix, Twitter account received death threats from fucking INSANE fans. That may discourage a 360 port unfortunately. People need to fucking take a chill pill. Console wars are retarded. Honestly if I were Wada, I'd port it to spite those people. But not sure how smart that is from a business perspective. I'm just a douche.

After the train wreck that was 13, I'm not holding out any hope of any of these being good.

It most likely won't happen, but I do hope FF Versus come to the 360. When the PS3 and Xbox 360 was out at the same time, people had to make a sacrifice. Either buy the 360 or PS3...only a small number bought both...but still. A lot of FF fans went to the 360, since it had the most quality out of everything...scratch the RRoD <_<; If FF Versus is strictly for PS3...I'm sure Square will lose a lot of support from fans. They already screwed up taking this long to produce the game...that will most likely be released AFTER Final Fantasy 14 is released lol. I'll be ok with a watered down version of FF Versus. FF 13 was watered down a lot, but that didn't stop me from getting my achievements <_<;

I like Versus. Then again...any game directed by Nomura is awesome in my opinion. If it doesn't go both platforms...guess I'll just read the entire story on wikipedia =/

FFXIII was not a real FF game..at least not in my opinion. A real FF game involves an in-depth storyline with deeply involved and well-written characters...FFXIII was boring and just a plain ol' chore to play. Huge cut scene, a few compulsory battles, save, cut scene, compulsory battles, save, boss, rinse and repeat. There was no town exploring (in my opinion a FF staple), no real "RPG" elements at all. It was an FPS/Action game dressed up in gorgeous graphics with a pseudo-FF battle system that required as little brain power as possible. No offense intended to those who liked the game, but the whole idea of the Paradigm feature, Autobattle, and so on makes the battle system broken and an offense to earlier FF battle systems. As for Versus XIII, I looked at the trailers, and was not impressed. Just more of Square Enix's "let's make a bad CGI movie and dress it up as a game" fanfare that they have been doing recently. Sorry if my comments seem harsh, but as an avid FF gamer ever since FFI for the NES there is no way that these games nowadays even remotely resemble a real FF game. *sigh* As for FFXIV, it's a technical blunder and Square-Enix should really stop trying to make MMORPGs. That's my take, my opinion on it all.

I got PS3 and 360 so I don't care either way. But more recent die-hard FF fans are probably thinking Final Fantasy belongs on the Play Station because that's where VII-X-2 were and a lot of the spin-offs. Even though the series' roots were on the NES and SNES. Personally, I think they should all shut the hell up and deal with it. Wada is a big boy. He can publish games on whatever console he wants. That's his, and SE's, decision. Also, XIV is already out. I forget exactly which article I read, somewhere on 1-Up, but Nomura was saying that it was coming along well. (For KH fans out there, he also said that he wants to make a KHIII ,but it will probably be after Versus because a lot of the KH staff is working on Versus).



I wouldn't call it FPS or Action. At the game's core, it has an ATB battle system comparable to older games like FFVII(yeah, I went there). It just looks hella flashy. Yes, there are a lot of new features. Like being able to pick multiple actions per segment of ATB before executing your commands and how your party actively moves around the battlefield and can dodge attacks(IE: For Lightning's fourth attack if you do all attacks, she does a flip and shoots from mid-air after turning her sword into a gun. I was able to flip over a missile and shoot, killing the guy. Probably the most badass thing I've done in that game.) But deep down, it really is an ATB system.
I haven't been an FF fan as long as you but I wouldn't consider myself any less of a die-hard fan. I've played, and beaten, easily 20 games with a few more I'm working on. I really gotta agree that taking out towns and shit was a bad idea. But I haven't beaten the game yet and I've heard it opens up more later, just way later, so I'm gonna reserve my final judgment.
And yeah FFXIV was a mess. FFXI was really fun though for the 5 years I played it. Hopefully they fix FFXIV. A couple years down the line, I might try it again. But that's getting off topic.

I remember way back in the day before PS3's release, Square remade the intro scene of FFVII with Cloud coming in on the train just to show off how awesome the graphics are. For awhile, all the fanboys were like "OMG FFVII REMAKE YEAH", but I knew it was only a graphical demo so I laughed at them.
It is possible they will remake it though. After all, they've remade I-VI so far, some of them more than once. If there is a remake, I'm not gonna get it, since I have the original version, unless I find it hella cheap at Gamestop, like I did with the PSP remake of FFT.
I've been playing X and X-2 recently too. lol I'm making a 100% video walkthrough with commentary for X-2 but I've been playing X because when Yuna talks about events that happened or meet people she knew before, I'm always like "Who the hell is this guy?" or "What happened here again?"
Back on topic, I think releasing it on PS3 and 360 would give it a larger audience. Though making it exclusive to one console may encourage rabid fans to buy that console if they don't own it. IE: let's say I think Final Fantasy is the best thing ever and I really want Versus but I only have 360. Then it comes out PS3-exclusive. That would probably encourage me to buy a PS3 because I wouldn't want to live without it. Hypothetical of course, because FF isn't my favorite series and I do have a PS3 but you get the point.
Ultimately it's up to them and I, personally, don't care about the result.

IIRC FFVII demo on PS3 wasn't actually running on PS3.

Back on topic. My impressions of what I've seen so far about the game.

Any fantasy game, doesn't even have to be FF, that is dark is a win in my book. I like the art style Nomura has going for this game. The concept intrigues me. One modern like city, with modern technology, fighting hordes of "not so modern" civilizations outside its walls, protecting that one thing that is keeping their technology up and running is kinda cool. In the full length HD trailer, what really won me over was the scene where you see all these government looking guys sitting around that large table...kinda makes you wonder about the so called "conspiracys" we have today.

From what hear, the game will be open world. Apparently you will be able to travel long distances by foot, by car, or by whatever. Search for items spread all across the entire map, like Oblivion or Fallout 3.
You guys seen those leaked gameplay trailers right? the part where you see Noctis fight against the behemoth looking monster in the middle of the city? My question is...was that the REAL battle system.
I remember how the guys behind FF13 released a kick-a** battle trailer, claiming it was the REAL battle system...but it turned out false <_<;
Another thing that intrigues me is Noctis fighting against Stella...like...she looks so innocent...but she fights Noctis because she HAS to. Hmm...interesting.

Yeah, I love modern dystopia settings. What little I know of the plot sounds awesome. I really wanna know about the battle system too. FFXIII has some interesting mechanics but as you said, it's not as free as they seemed to have claimed it would be. Since Versus is going to be an action game, that leaves it open for more cinematic combat that you actually have full control of. I still like XIII from what I've played though.

I wonder how much of KH mechanics will be present in the gameplay.

I agree with the first half of that sentence. I imagine it's gonna be an entirely new battle system but that remains to be seem.

I remember reading a while back the devs stated the system will be based off of KHs with a new spice to it. And apparently they will take that same battle system and use it in KH3.



XIII is too linear for me, as far dungeon crawling goes. The story is cool atleast, even if its a short one. Has to be the only FF game that I've beaten in a three day period <_<;
FFX took me about a week. FF7 took three weeks, as I was trying to get every little nook and cranny lol. Haven't played FF8 that long cause I only rented it once. FFX-2, I quit cause it sucked. FF12, I didn't play for more than 24 hours because everything just didn't interest me enough. FF9 took me a good six weeks or so.

Just goes to show that devs likes to pay more attention to the CG and graphics than the actual gameplay. Give me a game where its graphics isn't as good, with better gameplay, solid story, and solid characters and I will be just fine.

Yeah, I play all the games at different paces. Depends on how cool they are/whether or not I'm playing any other games/whether or not I'm doing something special for them. IE: 100% playthroughs, making videos about them, etc etc. I really do agree with you on the gameplay/story over graphics. Hell I still play SNES games that I like more than modern games. Sure, the graphics and music were good at the time and it was impressive what they managed to pull off on that system, but they're just plain fun with an awesome storyline.
I hope Versus gets the best of both worlds.

I liked the battle system in FFXIII and it came as a shock to me seeing how the character could attack more than once (6 times to be exact)
But i really like the look of FF Versus XIII's battle system, Seems very Dirge Of Cerberus - Kingdom hearts-ish, AND IT HAS BLOOD IN IT!
Which is kinda odd for a Final Fantasy game...

I got a couple new games that I've been playing and a 2nd playthrough of FFX to help refresh my memory but I plan to do some more later today. I have a few more videos done but I need to go back and finish the marriage/PR missions. lol I have up to the beginning of chapter 2, then realized you have to finish before the end of chapter 1. xD
I have a capture card and a mic that I use. I wish I had an audio mixer cause it's actually really hard to sync up both audio sources. lol You may have noticed a sort of echo effect in a couple of videos because I couldn't line it up perfectly. For the most part I do okay though. xD I usually record later in the evening, edit and render overnight, and upload the next day so be ready for some more tomorrow.

I intend to get a capture card too, so i can record FF Versus XIII when it comes out

Personally, I hope Versus XIII stays a PS3 Exclusive.

I have many reasons for this:
-Since the start of the PlayStation Era, Final Fantasy games 7-12 were all on a PlayStation console, so they should keep the 'tradition' running.
-Trailers say that it'll be a PS3 Exclusive. (Hopefully it still will be a PS3 Exclusive, like XIII was MEANT to be)
-If Versus XIII is on XBOX, it will have to be watered down, just like XIII was. (Even though it was watered down, it still had to be on 3 Discs)

At the moment, these are my reasons. When I have done some more research, I will edit this post.

I for one hope it isn't PS3 exclusive, as you can tell, i am a huge Final Fantasy Fan, ever since i played the tenth one (X) about 6 years ago, and i have LOVED it ever since, so i would be heartbroken if it being a PS3 explosive prevented me from completing my collection, FFXIII was what a lot of people said to be a train wreck, i loved it despite of that, my reasons for it being released for Xbox Or/And Both.

1)Many more people would be able to buy, thus allowing S.E to make more money, but i dont think this worked well with FFXIII.
2)"Traditions" are sometimes meant to be broken, or is better that they are broken, like i mentioned above, it'd be petty if the game wasn't released on xbox simply because its what they used to do with Playsation 1/Playstation 2 :/

Final Fantasy XIII had potential. It had a good battle system I thought (would've benefitted without the Auto-Battle feature), which allows you to change battle styles accordingly.

The story could've been longer: 13 chapters was not enough for me. If Yoichi would've left it a PS3 Exclusive, they could've added a more in-depth story but since it came on XBOX, it had to be 'watered' down.

Now I am not trying to start a console war, but PlayStation 3 had more space to hold more of FF13's Story plus more, XBOX couldn't handle it, thus it was on 3 discs. (PlayStation was only on 1)

What this has to do with Final Fantasy Versus XIII and XBOX? I'll tell you.

Even though Versus XIII would have a larger audience if it was ported to XBOX, it would probably have to be watered down like XIII was. Now we don't want that, after seeing all the exciting (in my opinion) gameplay we saw. I have a feeling, if it was ported to XBOX, I predict it would be on 4 Discs MINIMUM.

I also predict that story and extras will have to be watered down, so it stays in line with XBOX's needs. At the moment, XBOX just can't handle it.

This is all I have to say.

How is Xbox fault if the story was waterd down? The only thing Xbox affected was the resolution.
Also, I don't really know what you mean by "watered down", the story isn't shorter than old FFs nor less developed.

So I don't really see how Versus story could suffer from going multiplatform.

I think there's a clue with the 13 chapters thing, the name of the game itself is the 13th instalment so the amount of chapters fits i know that doesn't give it the right to be watered down (just so the name and chapters matches, its just something i though of)

Also i think the ability to play the game even after you have completed it adds on more hours, i saw someone with 115 hours of game play on it just in the chapter when your in Hopes house...
