Okay, I was wondering if there was a program to create/modify tilesets for a game I'm making.

Okay is there like a template or something?
MagitekElite
Yes there is.

That's just one of them. The gallery here has some, Holder has some in there I believe.

Graphics Gale is easier, if you follow this guide. If you do it with gimp, you have the chance of making it bad.

If you follow the above guide, you don't need a template with you. smile.gif

Thanks for the guide! That was super easy! Shame the hardest part is setting it all up in the database. sad.gif I was wondering, what's the reccomended maximum dimensions/size for a tileset? As I understand, the larger the tileset, the more the game lags...
MagitekElite
I agree, really easy to follow and great xD

I'm not sure what's the recommended size for a tileset, but I usually go about 2000 maybe 3000 before it kind but rarely, lags my PC up...
Holder
Thanks for the reference there MagitekElite smile.gif

I've seen no problems with lag because of long tilesets and .png images are really small in terms of file size. Even using one that's 256 x 44096 it's only 3.37 MB, however if you go for a tileset like this then you're still limited to seven autotiles.

So really I'd include what you need or want for a map and don't merge sets with things you don't need on the same map, I've got three standard grids within the templates and grids gallery which MagitekElite mentioned:

You can use them for copying and pasting certain individual tiles over if there's only a few you need.

I just merged Woods, Mountain and Forrest Town... smile.gif Once you learn this the doors really start to open up! It feels pretty limited at first, more so than VX in my opinion. But yeah, this is deffinately one of the first things any beginner should learn, I'm actually really looking forward to getting on with some maps now!
