I sent my game to a friend and he told me that none of the MP3 music was playing at all. The MP3s all work fine when played otherwise, they just won't play through the engine for some reason. Anybody else ever have this problem?

By the way, he's running on Windows XP.

I have no idea how to fix it, but I do know that it happened to me before.Try googling?

I had this issue before. Download audacity(free) and open up the mp3. You are going to need to get the lame mp3 encoder which is listed on their download site. Now, simply open up the mp3 in audacity and then file -> output as mp3 then save is on your desktop or something. And BAM there you go

simple.

The problem isn't the MP3s, it's the fact that they aren't playing in the editor or in the game. Or will that actually work to fix it?
I did try googling it before I posted here, and still nothing.
It appears to have happened to me as well now, which is rather confusing considering they worked earlier. I thought maybe it was just the MP3s I was using, but no other MP3s seemed to work at all.

Another good reason to switch to OGGs.

It will work to fix it. It's not all mp3s, because i've had some that work but i found that i had to do this for alot of my mp3s in order to get them to play in the editor/game. The defaults for exporting mp3s that are set in audacity fix the issue and trim the mp3's size down alittle as well. No hit to the quality either. Give it a shot and let me know if it fixes your problem.

Well, I tried it and sadly it does not work. Right now I have them converted to WAVs, which isn't very favorable considering the file size. Maybe I'll try OGGs. Thanks for the help though.
EDIT: OGGs, seem to work. Let's just hope they spontaneously don't stop working like MP3s did.

By the way, you don't even have to use Audacity.
Just visit media-convert.com and you can convert pretty much anything to any format. Easy peasy

Oh, nice!
I use Audacity quite frequently actually, it's very nice.

I mostly use it for mixing shitty songs I made with my ukulele, a music project I appropriately titled "Shitty Songs On The Ukulele". Lately I've also been using it to re-mix and edit some MP3/OGGs for my game.
