Hello. I've just started using rpg maker with a friend. Everything has been going fine, until I decided to try out his game. When I got to a certain part, my computer would reset. After a bit of trial and error, we discovered it's because of a custom sound he had put in his game.

Is there any known fix for this? Thanks for any of your help happy.gif;/.

Well I cant tell you any exact fix, but I can give you some pointers.
1) RMXP only supports .ogg .mp3 .wav and .midi/mid, any other format probably wont work without script-based addons, if you try forcing it to load a different format it may cause some issues.

2) Make sure you have the latest version of Direct Sound(not really sure how you do this...), if you have a windows XP or higher you should have a current enough version.

3) It may just be your computer, try opening the audio file with a third party program such as windows media player, etc. If it causes your computer to restart, then it's likely something is wrong with your computer and not the game's use of the sound file.

The file is .mp3, and it works on my friend's computer with no trouble. I'm not sure about Direct Sound, though I do have Windows XP. And it works fine in Media Player. I'll try to find out my version of Direct Sound though. Thanks! happy.gif!

Still having problems, but I've managed to figure out something about it. It works fine with custom added songs, but it crashes when the pitch is changed. Hadn't realized that was different at first. It crashes even if I try to change the pitch of an imported song though.

Have you've updated your sound card and drivers? That could be a reason for it crashing to changing the pitch of the song/music...
