Mkay, so I haz been bouncing this idea around my head for quite a while now....... joyn nao or dy!!
ohmy.gif As a side-note, imagine this world in a colour theme of black and gold with lots of damp, depressing rain.
Just 4 teh lulz. I've also noticed a decline in the Roleplaying forum's level of activity, so I decided to create a unique roleplay in the hopes of reviving it. So yeah.

Storyline
Six perfectly executed murders of politicians within Mist, a mysterious city cut-off from the outside world by harsh law; apparently, other cities are too corrupt and "tainted" in comparison to the pre-organized paradise that is Mist. Each of these murders have included evidence to suggest that two culprits were involved. Now, a new defence force has been gathered from all districts of the city of Mist. This force is a collection of particularly talented individuals, tasked with the goal of investigating these murders and finding those involved. Success has a 32.96% chance of actually occuring.
Especially with mysterious beings neither human nor android acting behind the scenes.

An overly-curious, mysteriously intelligent doctor. An unknown creature. A group of unfortunate chosen citizens.
Mist is in for a treat.

Setting
To explain the harsh world this RP takes place in, I'm gonna use a random class room lesson / short story biggrin.gif

"Alright class... This is a big year for all of us. It's the year in which you take your standardisation exams. Now these exams have been kept a secret from you for the most part. You knew they were coming, but you didn't know exactly what they were; I'm here to explain it. In this city, the citizens are split up into districts, each district housing a particular class of citizen. Here for example, this school is in the Middle Class District. There is also the Slum District and the Nobility Sector. Now, here in this District, we take the standardisational exams. These decide whether you get to live in the Middle Class District or not, and also which line of career you'll end up with; the most common being factory work. If you do well with hgih grades, you get a better career. Once your career has been decided upon, the government secures you a job in one of the facilities associated with your given career. So if you're given a career in factory work, the government will secude you a job in one of the factories. IF however you actually fail two or more of the standardisation exams, then you'll end up in the Slum Districts. In the slums, there are only small-time shops and stalls, but the government doesn't secure you a job, and crime exists around every corner. Now, the only way you can get into the Nobility Sector is to take the Nobility Exams, but there are only two ways to take the Nobility Exam; the easiest is to be the son or daughter of a Noble. The other option, is for you to get 100% scores on every single standardisation paper. If you do that, then you are given the oppurtunity to take the Nobility Exam papers. In other words, you're a lucky son of a bitch..."

The classroom erupted with immature laughter; the teacher just swore! "Now, the Nobility exam, should any of you be lucky enough to take it, is also done in a similar way. Basically, if you get "average" scores, then you're given a job in the middle class district as a teacher, doctor, law enforcer or lawyer. I for example. am one of these people, and they don't classify as "Nobles". We are instead referred to as "upper class". If you get below average scores however, then you're given a job working in one of the businesses in the Nobility District; obviously you don't get as much money, and you're not given a free house. If however you manage to get above average scores, then you're given a job running one of the businesses in the Middle-Class district as well as a house in the Nobility Sector; a very nice role indeed. If, by some divine miracle, you manage to get 100% on every paper within the Nobility Exams, then you're given a role as a politician aiding the government; nothing beats this honour. Also, nothing beats the salary!" - More laughter. "As you all know, this city is run by Alice Prixei, and so getting a job as a politician by her side could be a great way of potentially taking the reins of the city when she passes on. Anyway, some may call this city corrupt or unfair, but really it's the government that makes the rules. We can either be scummy criminals by breaking those rules, or law-abiding, model citizens by following them."
"Uhm, I have a question..." One of the students stuttered nervously, to which the teacher nodded in response. "Well what about those awesome Apps? I heard that only Nobles can get them which is really stupid..." The teacher smiled lightly before answering. "Well Trickster, it's true that people within the Noble Sector are given an App, but unfortunately there are illegal ways of gaining one regardless of your Class. Apps obviously, are just fancy chip things which you install onto your wrist and it's connected to your wrist and then you just press the App you want to use and focus a new-found energy onto your hand and viola, out pops your fancy app attack. Being an Upper Class Citizen, I didn't frickin' get one." Once again, cue the immature laughter.
The class gazed at the teacher in mild confusion.

"Dismissed."

On top of this, marriage is also decided based on people with like-results. A "Dark Romance" is a term given to relationships formed by two people who weren't set together to be married by the results of the exams.
Powers / Technology
The world doesn't feature "Magic" as such, but as mentioned in my fancy Setting explanation, there are things called Augementational Applications, or "Apps" for short. These are technilogical devices implanted within the user's wrist. Each person can have up to 4 Apps at any one time. Each of the apps are explained below:
Scorch ~ A simple fireball fired from the user's palm to inflict fire damage.
Volt ~ A swift bolt of powerful electricity which damages and stuns enemies.
Shockwave ~ A simple blast of energy which can push heavy objects and enemies.
Nitrogen Jet ~ Fires a jet of liquid nitrogen from the user's palm.
Frost Wave ~ A collection of icey particles launch from the palm, freezing anything they touch.
Concussive Wave ~ A wave of energy that is designed to be aimed at the head to heavily stun an enemy.
Gas Wave ~ A wave of Hydrogen is fired from the user's palm, emitting an extremely flammable gas into the air.

Technilogically, the Roleplay takes place in a somehwat realistic future setting of 2034, in a Japanese city called "Mist", ever suspicious of any and all outsiders who enter its boundaries. Cars hover slightly above the ground, and the city comprises of high-rise skyscrapers and gas-spilling factory facilities, except for in the Slum District which comprises of simple abandoned hotels and bars, where several families share a home. Guns run on electronically-charged sphere-shaped bullets, while the guns themselves look more or less the same as modern weapons. Everything from shotguns to pistols can be found. Cloning technology has reached extreme new levels, with some facilities being formed purely to clone the "perfect human". Cellular research, and bio-chemical engineering have both been mastered by Mist's top scientists. Another thing to know, is that the city is caught in an endless rain shower, which has been caused for reasons unknown. It is important to note, that only Noble characters may start with an "App", while other Classes will gain one at a later point of the Roleplay. Also, there are androids which act mainly as law enforcements and house servants. These Androids are identical with humans and are built to be perfect yet they have one critical flaw...

For anyone who's played Deus Ex 1 and 2, this Roleplay's setting could be sort of compared to that.
If you haven't played Deus Ex, I hope you die a slow and painful death.

Characters
When making a character, you can only make a human - there are no fancy pancy Sci-Fi races tongue.gif However, if you wish to be an Android, then you can use the same template as the human one mentioned above; just leave out the bits about the test results. biggrin.gif Now just like the setting details, every character has their standardisations be it the Noble exams or Standardisation exams. Because of this, everyone has a result which must be filled out in their character information. Heer iz teh templayt!!

Name: Ezekiel Godfrey
Age: 27
Appearance:
Guy in the middle, obviously

Class: Noble (born Noble)
Numerical Logic Result: 99%
Literature Result: 100%
Social Qualities Result: 90%
Protective Quality Result: 87%
Personality: Ezekiel, or Zeek, is one of the most despicable of all people. Brilliantly intelligent, wonderfully social, exceptionally creative, and he's very aware of it. He knows he's better and he believes he is better, only worsened by the fact that because he is so vain he rarely even tries. Zeek is Brilliant, vain, and lazy. A combination all but too common and only really damaging to himself.
Biography: Zeek has had a passion for learning since he was young and encouraged to do so by his father. Unfortunately, maybe due to being overpraised, Zeek grew increasingly complacent and relaxed. With his enthusiasm diminishing, so did his parents' willpower to encourage him. He spiraled down into a steady cycle of minimum effort with above average results. Zeek is very much a free spirit, and an insult to Mist. He will blossom wherever he is taken, but makes no attempts to make take himself higher. His suits may be smart, and his business may be thriving, but that doesn't change that Zeek is probably the least motivated person in his workplace. Sure, he looks busy, but he's just practicing his signature over and over again.

This alright Trickster, looks very interesting biggrin.gif

Name: Maxwell Ce McDuffy
Age: 21
Appearance:
He's about 6'3 and weighs 155 Ibs. Short yellow hair. He wears a well fit dark brown turtle neck sweater, with a dark green scarf. Tan suit pants and leather black suit shoes. Light green eyes. He also sports a gold ring.
Class: Noble
Numerical Logic Result: 100%
Literature Result: 98%
Social Qualities Result: 77%
Protective Quality Result: 84%
Personality: Maxwell reeks of nobility. His attitude toward middle class and lower is unacceptable. He is very smart, and believes that middle class and lower needs to be brought under slave labor and led by the great minds of the noble and upper class. His wealth also adds to his ego.
Biography: Idolizing his father, Maxwell too, believed that he was better than everyone else. His father saw the other districts as pawns and tools that could be used. Growing up, he was kept under wraps. His father saw no pleasure of watching his son go to any fun activities in school. All his father wanted for him, was to be wealthy, clean, and a leader. Someone who could turn a whole population into doing his bidding. Growing by these standards, Maxwell became the most selfish bastard ever known. To him, its all about money and power. The kids in his school often teased him. However, he found room with other upper class and noble heads.

[Interesting indeed -strokes chin-]

Nice to see people joining. tongue.gif It's been a while since I've actually done anything on this site, so I wanted to try something more .....
"Unique". I s'pose I should make my character. My character will be equally unique. cool.gif

Name: Zeck Layman
Age: 24
Appearance:
Class: Peasant [Slum District]
Numerical Logic Result: 81%
Literature Result: 61%
Social Qualities Result: 92%
Protective Quality Result: 16%
Personality: Zeck is a man of many personalities, capable of altering his attitude at will to meet his needs in certain situations. He can fake a particular belief brilliantly, and takes the time to patiently analyze every minor detail of a situation, sometimes thinking too far into things. He is known as a prodigy among the slum dwellers, being far superior to those around him. But being born and bred under a slum dwelling family, meant that he spent much of his childhood fighting to survive, and prove his worth among the other rough-'n'-tough youth of the district. Because of this, he has plenty of hand-to-hand combat experience, but not in the form of fancy martial arts. He is an expert brawler. Plain and simple.
Biography: Unbeknownst to anyone, Zeck is an android, and one of many that were planted within a family when they were due to have a baby. Instead, a "mysterious incident" occurred at the hostpital, and during the carnage, Zeck was supposedly "born". Every few months, Zeck was replaced by a new slightly more developed android (since androids are incapable of growing up, obviously), and now, we have the current Zeck. This operation (Codnamed "Operation Metal Seed") was part of a government plan to produce a completely non-suspicious entity who could eventually take over Mist's Intelligence unit. Now, Zeck is the director of Mist's Espionage Division, and because of this along with his simple civilian status built over years of government funding and work, he has been planted among the agents elected to investigate the mystery of the assassinated politicians. Naturally, Zeck's test results were also rigged.

Name:Kevin Echon
Age:21

Appearance: He is a nice looking man who has brown-hazel eyes and is about 6 feet tall. He is average weight and dark brown hair. He also always wears a soft brown "Lucky" jacket every time he steps out of the house, even if hes going to a formal event he usually keeps his jacket in the car.

Class: Middle Class - Noble
Numerical Logic Result: 95%
Literature Result: 87%
Social Qualities Result: 100%
Protective Quality Result: 76%

Personality: His parents dieing when he was only 12 always left a scar in him so he doesn't talk about it and if someone does, he usually gets very annoyed or angry. Besides that he's normally very nice compared to the other nobles. Since he lived in the middle class district for 12 years of his life he doesn't have the stuck up attitude of a Noble and normally feels compassion for the lower classes. He was never a very talkitive person, especially when his parents died, But once he accepted some of the bad things that happend in his life, he soon got over them and moved on. However, when he is boxing his attitude almost completely changes and he gets much more courageous and outgoing.

Biography: Kevin was just an average boy threw his life until he turned 12, at that time both his parents died in a horrible car accident leaving Kevin all alone. After about a week later their was a match in his DNA to a Noble class. It turned out that it was his mother's cousin, Francis who passed all the standardisation and Noble exams with a 100% in each exam. While Kevin was in school, he often got teased and made fun of for originally being middle class. However, he soon found his group of friends which he hangs out with during school. When Kevin turned 14 he took up boxing and practiced almost everyday. He was one of the top fighters in his school and usually accepted any challenge thrown his way. When Kevin turned 19 he moved out of Francis's house and got his own job and place in the Noble district which he still lives in now.

Name: Scott Lansing
Age: 22
Appearance: A rather average looking man. Height of 174 cm, weight: 68kg. Dark brown hair. Shifts between a formal business suit, and a casual attire of jeans, and sweater.
Class: Middle class
Numerical Logic Result: 70%
Literature Result: 76%
Social Qualities Result: 100%
Protective Quality Result: 62%
Biography: Scott came from a family at the very bottom of the middle-class ladder. While his parents were grateful for the opportunity for a steady income, Scott didn't appreciate the attitudes the rest of the upperclass, and even the rest of the middle class held towards them. Basically, everyone else lumped them in the same group as the dirt known as the slum-dwellers. Scott, sought to rid himself of this lifestyle by commiting to his studies. Unfortunately he had no talent in any of the tested fields, and earned only an average scores on his standardisation papers, except for social qualities. Still, these were the highest score to bless his family line for generations. He works as a salesman now, but the income wasn't enough to satisfy him. To earn something extra, Scott took up the life of a con-man, selling faulty goods, or goods that don't even exist to unsuspecting consumers. He chooses who to swindle carefully as skipping town is not an option. Pissing off the nobles would be dangerous as they actually have the leverage to hunt him down. Unfortunatly, despite his extra caution, he has recently encountered a stubborn group of individuals, and has been keeping a low profile ever since.
Personality: Like most con-artists, Scott is charismatic, and apathetic. He strives to get ahead in life, and will step on anyone's toes to get his way, granted, they don't have the resources to get him back later. He picks his battles carefully, and tries very hard not to stand out. Otherwise, his true nature is unknown as he shifts through multiple facades. After a few dirty jobs, Scott developed a paranoia, always watching his back for angry entrepreneurs.
Trickster
Sparrow, if you wish to create a slum character on top of your first character, then feel free. It could help quite a bit. smile.gif
Though now, I feel we have enough to start this baby rolling so I'm making the RP topic now.
