Full Version: [req] Shell Game/"Cup Shuffle" Mini-game

Okay, well, I tried getting help on this from someone on another forum, but they ran into a dead-end. So I'm asking for someone from here to help out now. sweat.gif The person who was helping me out uploaded his latest update on this mini-game here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N3H63VOA

If you don't have any idea about what the Shell Game is, check out 0:30~0:49 of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E28CKkIrdqs.

I'm not really looking for this mini-game to be entirely realistic. I'm pretty much just looking for it to be set up like how it is in the Suikoden vid. 'Cause, really, this is just a "one-time" mini-game for a festival in my game; it's only gonna be used for a single in-game day. It's not gonna be around forever like in Chrono Trigger, so I don't need something overly-complex. I don't want the mini-game to be -so- easy(or exploitable), that you're able to win a ton of money so soon, but I also don't want it to be so hard where it's pretty much impossible to win. I'm looking for something in between, if possible.

Thanks to anyone who's willing to help! smile.gif

I could make that without a problem, but it would not be in it's own screen. It would be a real event in the real game.

It would work the same, but it would be in real time instead of a paused menu

So you mean it'd be set up where you talk to the NPC, and when you choose to play the mini-game, it "pops up" on the same map kind of like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTGCiReX8LA ?

It's not quite like that but it's.. well.. have a look:

Is this kind of getting to the point of what you're looking for? To get it to look like how it does in the video would require a script, and I am not a scripter ^-^.

Very good eventing sasofrass! I tried the demo myself and I was very pleased smile.gif

Hn. While your variation is nice, sasofrass, it's not exactly what my friend and I are looking for, for our game. sweat.gif Are you sure that having the mini-game set up as in the vid, would require a script? Our game already has a good amount of scripts, and I'm not too keen on the idea of having another just for a mini-game. ermm.gif

The one you want in this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E28CKkIrdqs) would require a script, it is done in it's own menu.

The one in this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTGCiReX8LA) is more possible with events, but it would be difficult to make, but I think I could do that.

I see. But I still don't think it'd require it's own script. The last person who helped me with this seemed to be on the right track to how my friend and I envisioned it. But like I said before in the OP, he's run into a dead-end. confused.gif His latest attempt at it is in the OP, too, if you want to download and take a look at it.
