I forgot how to properly put priorities on trees :s can someone show me again? I searched Youtube and Google for a straight-foreward "guide" on it but no one was clear / didn't find anything relevant.
Currently, I can make it so characters aren't seen behind trees, but when I put a tree on the 2nd layer and then on the 3rd, the 2nd layer tree overlaps the 3rd layer tree because the priorities are funky. I can't put bird nests on the 3rd layer to overlap 2nd layer trees either, which is bothersome.
Thanks.

Typically, trees start at the bottom with no priority. If the tree is more than one tile tall, the second row up is priority 2, 3rd row 3, etc...
Your bird's nest should have a priority one higher than the level of the tree where you are placing it.
Usually a safe bet to just make the bird's nest priority 5.
